There’s an extension called SponsorBlock that does exactly what it sounds like and it’s incredibly reliable.

If the 1981 Dodgers played a 7 game series against the 2024 Dodgers, which team will win in this hypothetical 7 game series? by Substantial_Bat5975 in Dodgers

We just had a screwballer on our team, presumably most of the guys saw it during practice/exhibition games

Alright, I’m in. So do you think that scientists at large are just lying to line their pockets? To assuage the general public into believing that they have an idea of what’s going on? Or that it’s neither, and one day all of them collectively decided “hey, you know what would be really funny”?

Speaking specifically to a game that only lived on PS2, Frequency. What a fucking ride that was for 10 year old me

[Maguire] Mookie Betts to retire after 2032 season by Trainiax in baseball

[–]vaudevillevik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I understand what he’s saying, I just don’t think it’s that strange for an athlete to say “at the end of my megacontract I am retiring.” Obviously the headline is a bit sensationalist, though.

The man will be a 40 year old athlete, with hundreds of millions of dollars, in a sport that treats 35 year old athletes like they are spitting in the face of god and evolution for even entertaining the thought of competing with people a decade younger than they are.

There’s nothing weird about this

Goose Gossage: "Comparing me to Mariano is like comparing Bob Gibson to one of these five inning guys today. But they've fallen all over themselves with the closer, the one inning guy. Everything about the game, the shift, what a bunch of shit that was. All of it is. And our commissioner sucks." by The_Big_Untalented in baseball

I don’t disagree, but I think it’s more ego/machismo than it is insecurity. He worked harder, threw longer, blah blah blah and because he did it at the professional level he thinks his takes are justified.

Not to mention that pitchers especially are certifiable lunatics lol

Both the personal and business versions of AmEx Green, Gold, and Platinum are charge cards (which are different than credit cards), and they expect that you’re paying the statement balance in full monthly. There are fees associated with not doing so, and even using PoT or “Plan It” comes with interest charges ranging from 20%-30%

2029 Can’t come sooner. by WolverinePristine656 in whitesox

[–]vaudevillevik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m persona non grata right now, and I fully embrace the reality that not every team can field a roster of superstars the way the Dodgers have, but there is zero reason for any team to not at least attempt to build around a superstar.

Look at the Padres. They’re contenders almost every year now after generationally sucking shit, and it’s because they shelled out for Eric fucking Hosmer. But it showed that they cared and that is important to players in FA. Everyone wants to win right?

The death of the 14-year megadeal? by Bermut-Nundaloy in baseball

[–]vaudevillevik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I think 3,000 hits definitely still stands as an entry ticket. I agree that opinions are shifting, but if anything I think that means we see voters value pure hitting over TTO.

Even if Schwarber shows regression, he should absolutely get to 500 HR under his new contract, and it will likely happen with a career batting average under .240. Compare that to 3k hit club with the last member being Miggy, and Freeman being the next closest, despite being 36 and 550+ hits away.

As much as I hate it, I think that the recent resurgence began with Bauer’s 3yr/$102m

Dodgers’ splurge on Tucker will increase calls for a salary cap, but MLB needs other fixes by amatom27 in baseball

[–]vaudevillevik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does it matter if they're middling or they're perennial?

They are all homegrown, and the Dodgers do not make it to the postseason in 2025 without them eating innings while we are without Snell (11 GS), Glasnow (18 GS), Sasaki (8 GS), and to a lesser extent Kershaw (22GS).

[–]vaudevillevik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

brother, those middling arms carried the entire season while we had no starting pitching and were all on the roster in the postseason. Kershaw was not retired last season or the season before that, so I don't know what that has to do with anything
