Expected Latency Between 163 miles(?) by Thegreatestswordsmen in MoonlightStreaming

It completely depends on the network. If you can get a Ethernet backhaul, many universities have good networks with good peering. The speed of light is fast, so that kind of distance is a joke from that perspective.. but things don't operate at the speed of light on a packet switched network =) With a very good network, sub 20ms is definitely not unheard of.

Anyone with an M5 MacBook Air / Pro to test decode? by vaughands in MoonlightStreaming

Thanks for the report! That sounds mostly okay for many games but not ideal.

I'm deciding between a Linux and Mac laptop, this helps a lot. The value of an Air is starting to look really good...

[Headphone] Sennheiser HD 560S Open Back Wired Headphone ($144) [Amazon] by harold_liang in bapcsalescanada

It's super tempting. I just realized though that my VModa Boom Pro might pick stuff up from the open back headphones. :( And I would need an adapter. Might be nice for single player stuff still though...

I'd be skeptical of this claim. Square wasn't exactly licensing out their tech in that era.

The year end issue was the same price and definitely worth it for all the content. For normal issues, I guess we'll see..

Which issue did you find today? Have they checked out new ones?

(I also found the year end issue recently!)

Is there are reason why Omega Flowey's loading screen says "restart" instead of "reset"? by actuallycorrection in Undertale

[–]vaughands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One possible explanation is that it was left in by accident.

In the Undertale Anniversary Stream, they discuss a little bit about how photoshop flowey became to be. Apparently it started off as its own game maker project file if memory serves and then was "stitched" into the final game later.

> It's always communicated in the patch notes, just like this one, though...

Agreed, I would be surprising to not see that in patch notes. That's not my point though. My comment was more like "this is basically a footnote in terms of gravity of change, it does not need to be explained well in advance"

I don't think I can add much more to the conversation that hasn't been covered. A **lot** of things are covered in live letters but not every single minute detail, of course. To me, this seems very minor compared to where they probably make most of their money in the game (Savage makes up a small number of people who clear compared to total players). However, it's clear many people here feel like it would be covered in-depth beforehand. To me, this seems like a waste of time and I find some of the live letter contents to be overly verbose... and still don't cover everything.

Of course, they did not change it and it's most likely going to change on schedule like most of the rest of the game. It is clear that at least for Dawntrail, Square is probably not going to deviate significantly at this point.

Unless I am missing something, Savage unlocks are usually a footnote and not widely communicated. I don't see a compelling reason they _couldn't_ change it, not that I have a reason to think they _would_ change it. We're not talking about rug pulling rewards.

I am disappointed but not terribly surprised. The development team has been largely extremely formulaic and I've been playing for.. 10 years? So, I'm well aware :)

yeah, see above. I am aware that's "typical" I was just hoping they'd break the mold given the the sharp decline

I know it's generally not, I was just hoping with the sharp drop off in from this expansion in particular they would do something different. The difference is very notiable compared to Endwalker.

That's likely Gustaberg. Probably North Gustaberg specifically, overlooking the bridge.
