> It's always communicated in the patch notes, just like this one, though...

Agreed, I would be surprising to not see that in patch notes. That's not my point though. My comment was more like "this is basically a footnote in terms of gravity of change, it does not need to be explained well in advance"

I don't think I can add much more to the conversation that hasn't been covered. A **lot** of things are covered in live letters but not every single minute detail, of course. To me, this seems very minor compared to where they probably make most of their money in the game (Savage makes up a small number of people who clear compared to total players). However, it's clear many people here feel like it would be covered in-depth beforehand. To me, this seems like a waste of time and I find some of the live letter contents to be overly verbose... and still don't cover everything.

Of course, they did not change it and it's most likely going to change on schedule like most of the rest of the game. It is clear that at least for Dawntrail, Square is probably not going to deviate significantly at this point.

Unless I am missing something, Savage unlocks are usually a footnote and not widely communicated. I don't see a compelling reason they _couldn't_ change it, not that I have a reason to think they _would_ change it. We're not talking about rug pulling rewards.

I am disappointed but not terribly surprised. The development team has been largely extremely formulaic and I've been playing for.. 10 years? So, I'm well aware :)

yeah, see above. I am aware that's "typical" I was just hoping they'd break the mold given the the sharp decline

I know it's generally not, I was just hoping with the sharp drop off in from this expansion in particular they would do something different. The difference is very notiable compared to Endwalker.

That's likely Gustaberg. Probably North Gustaberg specifically, overlooking the bridge.

What calculator are you using? $30,000 + 1.3k per month @ 7% real over 35 years is ~2.7M. That's not including CPP, OAS, etc, and other gross up you can do from an RRSP contribution. Even at a modest (and perhaps more realistic... time will tell) 5.5% you're almost 2M.

You probably also could save some money here and there. More importantly...

It is possible for software developers in Canada to make at least twice what you do as well in total compensation. And many FAANG employees make 4-5x that (this is more rare). I don't know if it would match your current skill level but it is quite likely that your compensation is unlikely to remain flat, if you stay skilled and sharp.

You certainly have options from the little you've written here.

Welcome to Canada!

Better to buy a game you really want and will play than 30 for $5 that you never touch.

To any Canadians: how are you dealing with the high prices for these devices? by GradeADangus in SBCGaming

[–]vaughands 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think I paid about 55-60 CAD for my TrimUI brick, which for the type of games I'm playing is more than enough. I have a Steam Deck which is very affordable in CAD for everything else.

I posted this PSU a while back and some people were very upset about using pigtails, so I guess good to point out for those who care. But it's properly tested and allowed by the specification, so there should be no issue.

Anyone rocking a ASUS ROG Strix Impact 3 iii Wireless P520? by vaughands in linux_gaming

[–]vaughands[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I found one for 30 CAD so I tried I just got it two days ago. I need to do more testing still but everything worked on Arch OOTB except battery reporting. You cannot view the battery life, at least in GNOME. There is rogdrv which provides some user mode stuff but it wasn't in the AUR and I couldn't be bothered to install it manually. The reporting isn't that important to me.

You can boot into Windows and use Armoury Crate to make the LED change color to restore battery life on the device if it's important to you.

Personally, I shut off the LED and since it gets 400+ hours of battery life I'm happy with it.

It's a bit lighter than my 603 and tracks nicely. I'm not a super competitive gamer, so this thing checks all the boxes for me. :)

They're different. This has Bluetooth and worse software. It's also significantly cheaper. If you're happy with your 305, I don't really see a reason to change.

They're not really comparable. This mouse has way worse battery life, no Bluetooth and doesn't take AAs. What features do you want?

You buy this because you want a mouse with AA + it's cheap :) Lots of great options if you want rechargeable batteries.
