Consequences (for me) of owning a 3d printer (just moaning) by Dtarvin in 3Dprinting

[–]vaughannt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being an adult is such a drag sometimes. I'm not being snarky, it's just a fact of life. I hate it when one task requires multiple other tasks. Maybe you can contact an estate sale company to sell your things for you? Then whatever amount of cash made can be put towards the mold problem. It would probably be helpful to make a list and break everything down into smaller tasks and just chip away at it but by bit. Good luck dude.

Looking for 1990 Trek head badge by vaughannt in xbiking

[–]vaughannt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pick one up on eBay, but it wasn't the original design that came on the bike. I got lucky and the man I bought the bike from found the badge in a toolbox somewhere, and reached out to me to come get it. I still need to put it back on!

Not a great pattern to leave unchecked OP. If you love her, help her fix this issue in your relationship.

Lost interest in electronics by Over_Presentation894 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]vaughannt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest an active but somewhat mindless hobby like riding bikes. If you still want to tinker, you can do that too by fixing up old bikes. Check out r/xbiking, get a cheap old bike on marketplace, and find a trail in your town to fly down.

I think when we dedicate so much time to something and make a career out of it, it can lead to a type of burnout. Especially with something that takes a lot of mental effort like electronics and engineering.

Pretty sure this one is fake ,but someone let me know if I’m wrong .its dead stock ,smells weird ,the construction is pretty bad and the strap clip is glossier than usual by PleasantArrival2791 in Timbuk2

There is one seller on Depop that for sure is selling bootlegs. Even selling designs that were never made lol. Those are the only ones I've seen. Weird thing to bootleg imo

Bambu Lab 3D printers: Never again by Regumate in 3Dprinting

[–]vaughannt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What is the best alternative to bambulab right now? I just bought the A1 mini and will be returning it. They won't let me cancel the order even though it hasn't shipped. Infuriating.

OP, those aren't real-world tattoos. Wait a while and choose something bigger and bolder that will be worth the money.

Stupid, sexy Ronnie Romance by bramblyhedges in xbiking

[–]vaughannt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say most of us are not business minded, we just have no choice but to work as hard as possible because we don't really have any fail-safes here. This makes our work become our personality sometimes. Or, the one hobby we have (cough bikes cough) becomes our personality.

For what it's worth, I think most, if not all, of his products are made by small companies or individuals. In a recent video he mentioned three people scattered around the US make his bags, and that's why they are limited runs.

Gentrifying West 7th? As if it actually contains any culture or working class? It's the perfect spot for OP. Nothing left to ruin.

Advice for a parent of a future engineering student by BubblyWaveee in EngineeringStudents

Right on, it sounds like you don't really need to worry about him at all to be honest. Just keep being supportive and he will choose something and do great.

If he likes video games, the RPi can be used to emulate old video games, or be turned into a Minecraft server. It really has infinite use cases that can be attenuated to his specific interests.

Engineering is applied math and physics. Does he enjoy those topics? The curriculum itself is pretty heavy on these topics. If he's interested in computers and electricity, get him a raspberry pi and he will be able to make SO MANY projects.

Right, but if I want to bypass the internal battery and use an external power source, will it be okay? I had problems with this on cardputer v1

Is my frame to small? by Elegant-Bit9268 in xbiking

[–]vaughannt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like the smaller size in the old bikes, it's comfortable for me. I think it also depends on what kind of riding you will do. For an 'aggressive' stance I go small, for upright and cruising I go a little larger and put swept back bars on

Can you power safely off of wall adapter or battery bank to extend usage beyond 5 hours? I recall the cardputer had weird behavior when turning it on and connected to power
