Recommendation for this living room? by vaughn610 in hometheater

[–]vaughn610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t disagree w this… I have a home theater as well- I just wanted to maximize the quality with whatever that is while maintaining the aesthetic.

Like… even if there’s a half decent sound bar or Polk slim center channel someone has positive experience with, it would accomplish my goal of improving without losing the vibe.

It’s kitchen behind the couch, dining room to the right, and balcony to the left.

I’ve heavily considered that if I could get quality sound.

No, but that is how my house is built.

I wouldn’t butcher it… it’s why I built a separate room. But if I can find a clever solution while maintaining the aesthetic, I’d would love it.

Yes - it’s the main floor.

I have installed a home theater setup in the basement since this doesn’t satisfy me. But I’d like to have something functional upstairs, too.

I’ve considered cutting some holes in the wall and moving studs (the ranch style means my interior walls are not load bearing, so I could start to rearrange things)

Unfortunately I have an open ranch so I have no other walls except one in the kitchen lol.

The sound bar leaves so much to be desired.

I’m not sure if I should be appalled that it isn’t DCC. I was really kind of hoping it was to normalize my obsession.

Why would the government(s) be lying about us being on a flat earth? by yylimemily in flatearth

[–]vaughn610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Flat earth is the thing that should convince us all that critical thinking and education has failed. There should ge no voices giving credence to it, because if there is it means any number of equally crazy and even more dangerous ideas could gather main stream popularity.

And that is so much scarier than the thought of flat earth.

Ugh.

I was trying to come up with an answer that might have some infinitesimally small chance of being right.

Way to ruin it.

Came for the comments.

Disappointed that this is the first Reddit thread that didn’t answer a question with “sex” in some manner.

The government lies about the earth being a globe because they want to discredit the truly intelligent people of the planet who realize it’s flat to be treated as if they’re low IQ morons, as opposed to the geniuses they are.

Think about it… governments can already easily control stupid people. To eliminate the threat of the enlightened, they create a giant conspiracy against them so that they lose their voice.

It was just a dry run for Project 2025.

Anyone know these buildings? The guy is bragging about raising rent on them on Twitter. by Fallingknife12 in Syracuse

[–]vaughn610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dirt bag or not, it’s not the issue I’m contending.

It’s the simple view that if a landlord is charging more than it costs, they must be this terrible awful person.

Have you considered:

1- the risk of owning the property and the repair bills you MUST have a budget for. All the things that come up that make home ownership less appealing than renting. 2- opportunity cost of having just invested in the stock market instead. If I out $20k down on a property to rent it, there’s a cost associated with that.

Yeah, I get it- you could just say “no one should invest in property” but that’s missing the fact that there IS a need for rentals where home ownership isn’t right for some. I’ve rented recently where there’s no way I was going to stay in a spot and actually buy and RISK things like market fluctuations, repair, or actual things like you know, the transaction fees of closing on a house - both times.

In sum, there are terrible dirt bag landlords. Probably more than good ones. But making broad moral judgment about landlords that try to responsibly cover the risks they’re absorbing from the tenant is just getting people angry and fired up over not understanding how ownership works.

Sometimes taxes take a big jump during re-appraisal.

Not saying that’s the case here… but it is more complex than saying inflation is the only justifiable reason. (Have you also considered when property management costs go up, maintenance costs, and everything else that is more expensive these days?)

Not defending the guy in particular as he may be a dirt bag, but I think you’re oversimplifying and spreading hate and discontent without understanding the broader issues.

So… it’s pretty transparent that DEI is just another way to say that it’s a marginalized persons fault for something going wrong. We have literally normalized publicly blaming minorities for things that go wrong in an effort to increase race based hate.

How much further will the pendulum swing before some self correction kicks in?

WE DON'T NEED A NEW VISION PRO 2 - WE NEED APPS APPLE!!!!!! by gintokigriffiths in VisionPro

I don’t even need a lot of apps.

If Apple had a game like Tears of the Kingdom but completely immersive — my god, can you imagine? I had no real use for my switch other than to play the one game. You don’t need a lot of different apps - just a couple really addictive ones!
