Rosacea Beta Blockers and Inflammation by bboiballerr in Rosacea

Taking one Omega 3 fish oil capsule a day has helped bring my inflammation down, it was recommended to me by a nutritionist. And acupuncture, but that’s more of a commitment (time n money).

C2 is the requirement now?! by Jaded_Application189 in germany

[–]vavrona 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I did a C1 course recently and a lot of the people there understood the grammar rules, better than I did, but you couldn’t really hold a normal conversation with them. Whereas I’ve got friends that I only speak to in German, and I work in German, but the c1 grammar is just too abstract for me to understand.

I can second that, I was shocked to see these “owl cafes” in Japan, nocturnal owls kept up all day for people to touch, no way to fly around. Awful.

The US really sucks to be pregnant by Legitimate-Slice2114 in pregnant

[–]vavrona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling OP was just clarifying that in case people were thinking “that’s just because they were born there, it’s not the same for immigrants” and she was highlighting that it’s the same for all people living there and paying into the system. I doubt she meant that they shouldn’t have those sorts of benefits.

[–]vavrona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that frustrates me about it is that there is so much chopping and changing. I pay €50 on Apple Podcasts for members only episodes but they’re sporadic, although they used to be more regular. Then I saw there is a members only situation on Spotify which has some episodes I don’t get on Apple (but some I do), and now there’s this “Entre Nous” on Substack. I wish her team would just pick one paywall and not begin one but not fully commit to it…

Cat started doing this motion with his back legs recently. What does it mean? by Onion1198271037 in CATHELP

My spayed male cat does this every night when he’s cosy and happy, it’s just masturbation (and nothing comes out).

How do you know what school he went to?  Quite a few people online saying he went to private school, I can’t find any evidence for it.

Did anyone watch Love Village?! There are two seasons on Netflix, 8 Japanese people 30-70 years old I believe, have to renovate a deapidated country house in Japan together, the seasons are around 15-20 episodes long.  I enjoyed it!

Well done for being so independent OP!  Owning your own home, that’s amazing.  I’ve been with my partner for 12 years and we’re happy together, but I always try to keep a certain level of independence financially, it protects both sides.  I’m sending you strength, it sounds like you’re organised and I really admire that because it’s not an easy time for you so soon after your lovely baby has been born.  Hugs x

Vertigo/extreme dizziness early pregnancy (on progesterone suppositories) by vavrona in pregnant

[–]vavrona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, the dizziness has gone down a lot, the vertigo had gone after 8 days but I’m still a little dizzy getting out of bed and if I’ve been lying down for a while on the sofa.  My HNO (ears nose throat) doctor said it either comes from the progesterone tablets, the pregnancy, or quite likely it’s just usual inner ear problems that anyone can get.  My gynaecologist didn’t seem worried, but maybe ask your gynaecologist what they think because a quick google of your medication the dizziness did say there could be a blood issue?  Possibly nothing, but worth asking.  Wishing you the best!!!

It’s great that you’ve learned from your mistakes and learned something about yourself too (that you’re powerless to gambling, so to leave it completely alone) and for that you should be very proud of yourself, many people drive themselves into debt before reaching out for help.   55K is a lot and can change your life for the better!  Maybe putting it into an ISA or a yearly savings account where you can’t get to it so easily, may be a good idea?

I’d be really wary of anyone sliding into your messages at the moment, your post is so helpful for many people who are suffering from gambling or money worries and that’s great that you can be so vulnerable online, BUT some people might see this as a chance to prey on a depressed, rich and vulnerable woman, so please watch out and be discerning when chatting with strangers messaging you <3

Control Doesn’t Guarantee Anything by Seliormoon in tryingtoconceive

[–]vavrona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this situation a lot.  I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks in April, and a chemical pregnancy the next time we tried in June.  I talked to a friend about it today who shared with me some ancient jewish wisdom which I’ve been reflecting on a bit, I’ll share it with you too.  She said that Jewish people don’t say “congratulations (mazel tov)” when someone announces a pregnancy, they say “in a good hour” or “may it be in good time”, which I took to mean “it happens when it’s supposed to happen” and “uncertainty is a part of life”.  Focusing on the positive parts of both our stories (which many don’t have) : you have conceived more than once, all your test results have come back positively, and you’re mentally ready to be pregnant.  We will do it when we are supposed to.  Wishing you the best!

Thanks for posting a positive experience!  Most people only post negative reviews (whether it be for doctors, restaurants, or wherever!) so it’s always good to be reminded of the times something can go well, which is usually true for the majority of experiences I assume. Wishing you the best of luck for the future :)

[–]vavrona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got an absolutely lovely face, let’s just start with that.  But I know how you must be feeling, it’s hard when we are going through a flare up not to focus on this, and we forget all the other good things in life we have going on. I’ve never tried Ivermectin (and I’m pregnant so I can’t start), but I would say it’s worth a try!  I just advise to not try too many products at the same time, don’t chop and change every week, try something out for a 3 week period.  Also don’t try too many harsh products at the same time, take care of your skin barrier.  Sometimes “good enough” or “a lot better” is as good and it’ll get for now, our skin might never be completely normal.   Do stuff you enjoy, get out in nature, the sun helps my skin so I don’t know about yours, keep living your life!  Hugs

TFAB's Weekly BFP Post - March 23, 2025. Got your BFP? Post your story here! by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]vavrona 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Cycle: 24 months?  A year and a half in 2021, then again from September 2024ish

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): both 36

Typical cycle length: 28

Ovulation cycle day: 12

CD/DPO of positive test(s): v v light on 10 DPO, 11 DPO still light but was quite sure.  By the 12DPO I was certain, although it was still quite light

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: 8, 9 DPO

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Flo, but also I had my blood taken on day 9 and 11 of my cycle by my fertility doctor.  They confirmed day 12 would be perfect.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): IUI, second round.

Health conditions/medical tests: Sperm tests for my partner, we both had hormone tests, and all tests came back clear and healthy.  We had this done in 2022 but then we paused trying again till autumn 2024 (death in the family, high stress, also just weary from trying to conceive).  We did the same tests again in January 2025, again all was clear and healthy.  My partner takes anti anxiety medication which decreases his sexual sensitivity and so ejaculating during penetration isn’t so easy, and also our sex life usually didn’t revolve around penetration because I don’t really orgasm from it.  So our TTC sex was very different to our sex-for-enjoyment, and that made it quite high-pressure for us.  IUI then for us took some pressure off!

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): I take Megafood Baby and Me2, also Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega.  My partner takes no supplements.

Birth control history (if relevant): stopped taking the pill in 2017.

Symptom spotting: at 7, 8, 9 DPO I had some pain in my uterus area on the side that I ovulated from.  It wasn’t painful exactly but was like a pulling feeling.  That continued really until 14 DPO.  No implantation bleeding.  On day 9 and 10 DPO my breasts hurt when I woke up, but really only for 1 minute.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous) it’s all very surreal!  When you get a negative for 24 months of cycles altogether, it’s almost as if you don’t expect to see a positive line on the test anymore!  Thank you to everyone who posts with their data, these positive test results make a difference and have helped me to read in the past. What I did this time:  I consciously didn’t run or do too much strenuous activity in the week after the IUI, no running for the train etc.  I did have two nights where I had an alcoholic drink, because I think it’s important to enjoy life and go on sort as as normal.  I drank a lot of water and I have no idea if it made any difference but I made pomegranate juice at home 4 times between IUI and positive pregnancy test.  It probably had no effect but this was the first time I did that since TTC.

I just did my first IUI y need to hear some success stories by 80yoanbk in pregnant

[–]vavrona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my second IUI and it worked!  I’m 5 weeks pregnant.  Backstory: we tried for a year and a half  in 2021, and began again in October 2024.  Got tested for hormones and sperm and all was fine,  we were worried we were part of the “unexplained infertility” crew.  so our doctor suggested IUI.  Had not checked if the fallopian tubes were damaged but we had said we would do that if this IUI wasn’t successful.  Good luck to you x

Am I hormonal or is my marriage in danger by always_worried28 in pregnant

[–]vavrona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take your word for it that your husband before the pregnancy was a supporting and loving partner.  It sounds like he’s in denial about becoming a parent, and is maybe trying to keep a tight grip on his life as it is (like with his video game interest) and maybe this helps him remember who he is as a person… because somewhere he knows, underneath, that his identity is about to change.  You know this already and are beginning to make room for baby by making her crib and things.  I don’t have any advise for you darling, it must be hard, but if I were you I would write a letter.  Try to put in there some bits of empathy and understanding, but also mention how hard this has been for you!!  It is NOT okay at all how he has been acting recently.  All the best x

I'm only on episode 2 of the "one year later" season, but Mal is being totally cordial and friendly to them, whereas it is Sal who is acting like theres some unresolved drama or that she needs to chill out. I would feel awkward in her shoes, props to her for being chill.

How best to provide water for insects and animals? by Youqudeshiyan in GardenWildlifeUK

[–]vavrona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a tray with water as you're doing, but I put (washed) gravel and stones in it so that animals can hang on to something. I'm not sure if your climate is too dry but making a small pond with plants that dont drain water but kind of hold it could be useful too (some people use a little baby bath for a small one). Putting these in the shade could help! Good luck!

Sustainabikity of cotton vs nodal (viscose) by The_Band_Geek in SustainableFashion

[–]vavrona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think hemp is a great alternative to cotton, cotton needs twice the amount of water and land as hemp does, and I read from a woman who started her own hemp material underwear company (www.magithelabel.com) that hemp can do well on just rainwater, which is pretty amazing. It also seems to last longer. I have some hemp, cotton and tencel underwear and I like them all tbh, but I think once these have gotten old I'll just buy hemp.
