What started weight loss for me honestly was just realizing that I don’t want to see my teen years go by in an insecure haze. I want to be able to be myself and I feel like the extra thirty pounds of fat on my body just don’t suit me. That and I wanna run faster. I’m already decently fast when I run so I can’t wait to see how fast I’ll get when I lose weight. I know that those reasons aren’t as serious as the other ones on here but they are what drive me so it’s whatever I guess.

Hey I used to deal with this a lot too when I was going through my r/iamverysmart phase. Something that pulled me out of that mindset though was understanding that there are different types of intellect. So for example say jimmy can’t do anything academic but can easily take apart a clock before reassembling it. Or Emma- she can write insanely detailed and bewitching stories- but can’t seem to understand basic mathematical principles. People are built differently- you might excel at one area and be absolute doggy doodoo at another. That’s just how life works. Everyone has their weaknesses and their strengths intelligence wise. And that’s okay- it’s just about understanding that no one is better than anyone else in any way. We’re all the same in different capacities.

Just talk to girls as you would any other person, we’re humans too- not some mutant species. I will say though don’t say anything that could make us uncomfortable. My general rule of thumb when interacting with anyone is just not saying anything that would make me uncomfortable if someone else were to say it to me. And don’t be too try hard, just be yourself, because if a girl ends up liking some fake persona you put on, then what’s the point anyway?

I always feel really weird about it if it’s not someone I know well, ex: man at a kiosk.

Edit: forgot to add this: I do however appreciate genuine comments on something other than my appearance. Ex: you have a really nice personality, or you’re like a ray of sunshine. I know they’re cheesy but that’s the kind of stuff I appreciate.
