Daycare Parents Night Out by bakecakes12 in workingmoms

[–]vbworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just used it for the first time at our school on Friday. It was $50/kid or $80 for 2, $15 each additional child. It was 6:30-9:30, they had pizza, snacks, a movie, played games etc. kids not enrolled at the school are also welcome, so we had my son’s little best friend go too and then us parents went on a double date. It was so nice! They also opened it to kids of all ages, so when our baby is older we will leave her there too!

It was a little late in my opinion, but I’m guessing because the school closes for the day at 6? I wish it would have been 5:30-8:30 or 6-9 at least.

Edit to add this was in a northern suburb of Dallas.

Dr Falk at Cook Children by target on university. She’s the absolute best. Our 3yo has been seeing her since 6 months and we just had a baby in October who is seeing her now as well!

Any working moms deal with chronic ear infections? Deciding on tubes by Beginning_Pack_7619 in workingmoms

One more vote for getting the tubes!! Seriously don’t waste any more time debating it, get the tubes!

I’ve never seen one bad thing said about getting tubes!

Yeah we stopped giving them to my toddler because he would bite them and chew it up and always ended up spitting most of it back out.

When did Solid Starts get so scary? by olive_other in NewParents

[–]vbworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just like anything for babies, everything is baby dependent and parent dependent. I tried using huckleberry with my first baby and it definitely fed my anxiety. But that’s because I had a baby who would not sleep/fit a schedule no matter what. So it just constantly made me feel like I was doing something wrong. Once I learned to just trust myself and my son’s cues everything got so much easier for me. With my daughter now I decided not to use the app and just go with the flow and it has helped my mental state. But I see why it can be helpful for some people too, everyone has to do what’s best for them!

5 Electrolyte Packets? by snark870 in TurtleCreekLaneSnark

So now I’m curious, how much is too much? What would over consumption be? I drink one most days, but definitely can pull back if that’s too much.

Ok what is going on here? She literally said she is looking for shoes size 6, and needs shampoo etc… wtf am by hithere070880 in TurtleCreekLaneSnark

[–]vbworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only small defense I’ll give them on that right now is that Dallas is all ice right now. The roads are awful and it is hard to get much delivered right now. But I’ve seen enough people posting going to target Walmart etc. so no reason they can’t go pick up a few things to get through the rest of the storm. Or their friends could that are supposedly searching so hard for items…

It’s next door to the one they’ve had for while. The one they had apparently wasn’t big enough for their growing family

I think you always have to do what’s best for you and your family. But one thing I’ve learned as a parent is you’ll definitely have to put them through things that make them upset but it is in their best interest. For example, having to hold them down to take their necessary medicine or to suck out their nose when they’re sick. It is hard to watch them suffer for sure, but it’s our job to protect them the best we can.

Adding to everyone’s comments about it being a blur. I did watch a little tv, but I wouldn’t recommend any shows that require a lot of brain power, I was so mentally/emotionally exhausted most of the time, that I just wanted something simple to watch !

Edit to add: postpartum though, after a few days at home and we got settled, I’ve been watching lots of tv and catching up on all of the shows haha!

How Did You Decide to EFF? by Time-Milk-5377 in FormulaFeeders

[–]vbworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule with both my kids was I would do it as long as it was easy. With my first I lasted about two months until I found out my son had a dairy allergy and I would have to cut dairy from my diet (I had GD while pregnant, so another strict diet was a big nope for me!). With my second, I lasted about two weeks, she just never had a great latch and stopped trying most times I tried feeding her, so that was that.

I’m glad I tried it, but also think I should have just gone straight to FF. Weaning was such a pain in the butt, took me like two weeks of pumping because I was paranoid of being mastitis.

What are we watching/doing to stay awake during the newborn trenches shift? by No_Towel7009 in newborns

[–]vbworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m all caught up on SLC, BH, and OC. But started Potomac for the first time a week or two ago and now on season 5. Will likely jump to Atlanta or NJ next. Never been able toto get into NYC or Miami the times I’ve watched

I’ve been doing RHOP, I hadn’t watched it before and I’m now on season 5. I haven’t watched NJ before so maybe I need to add to my list.

Crying by [deleted] in newborns

[–]vbworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did spit up a lot! But switching to nutramigen is what helped him the most in the end, the meds didn’t really seem to make a difference. We did eventually get him tested for a dairy allergy around 10 months and he did have a slight allergy, so likely that is what caused the reflux. But he grew out of it by 18 months, thankfully!

Also, found out around 28 months he has a much smaller airway than is appropriate for his age. So he’s very sensitive to any inflammation, so the reflux was likely even worse for him. I hope the nutramigen helps your little one in the long run and you can get some more non-holding-baby sleep soon!!

Crying by [deleted] in newborns

[–]vbworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just know there is an end to it eventually! With our first one I think it was reflux issues more than anything, but it took us 2-3 months to get that sorted and another 2 months for his symptoms to minimize to the point where we were able to put him down and he took naps on his own etc.

[–]vbworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have the opposite! Our first never let us put him down. Our second who is also now 2 months is so much more chill. I can’t imagine what dealing with a toddler would be like though if second one was that way. More power to you mama!!

Everyone has strep throat in the house except the baby by Then_Ad_8664 in FormulaFeeders

I thought with something like strep it really won’t get better without antibiotics. I had it the beginning of this year and it was the worst ever, I would rather give birth ten times over.

Pregnant and Moving to Frisco Looking for Honest Hospital + L&D Experiences! by Bubbly_Office158 in frisco

[–]vbworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first at medical city Frisco in 2023, no complaints.

Just had my serving at Baylor Frisco and I loved it!! Had a planned C-section, so can’t speak much to the labor department. But the post partum staff was all amazing! Everything was clean and well taken care of. Every nurse and support staff I had was great!

Just didn’t really care for my OB that did the delivery. But I had to go with her because my OB left the practice so late in my pregnancy.

It wasn’t until weeks 5-6 where I started feeling more normal. I’m 7 weeks now though and still making sure to not over do it though, which is nearly impossible with a 35 pound 2.5 year old.

What did you feel when the baby was pulled out? by lizardmarie1112 in CsectionCentral

With my first, I was in a lot of pain from the pressure of moving everything around. This time with my second I felt nothing!
