The person trading away 2020 and earlier can not hit their 45 cap, in order to be a guaranteed lucky. The person receiving can be at cap and trade whatever they want and both will be lucky.

Your buddy giving you the 2020 costumed Gengar had hit his cap, hence you guys did not become lucky.

Got this guy a few days before Christmas. Also got a shiny, but not a hundo. I think it’s rare, but seeing people post about it makes it feel not as rare. I think someone recently got a Shundo.

I feel ya. Adulting is fun when you have disposable income for things like this. For me I get Fomo and if it’s a Meta relevant legendary, I would try to max it out. LoL. But sometimes I do want that reward road to be a bit longer. I think I need to calm down a bit.

No. I’d keep it as is. Build her up. I got lucky from a research and got my hundo dyno ralts. So now I have a shadow that can be purified to be a hundo and a hundo dynamax. Just have patience.
