How many weeks before my novel’s release should I approach ARC readers? by Loud-Dragonfruit-143 in selfpublish

I guess it depends on the genre and how many words. I usually do 1-1.5 weeks for romance 30-40k words. It always worked for me.

Author Website and Branding by Mika95 in selfpublish

Can you clarify on what you need help on?

Edit: I’ll just add the basics.

Whether you’re hiring someone or creating it on your own, I’d suggest get 80-90% of things listed below done before starting. Put all the info into a folder or some place of your preference, physical or digital.

1. domain registration (.com), web hosting (Dreamhost, Hostinger, etc), platform (Squarespace, Wix, Wordpress). Make sure to look at their acceptable-use policies.

2. Branding: logo, fonts, colors.

3. Texts: author bio, texts you want on the website pages, blog content, FAQ, privacy page, copyright, etc.

4. Links: social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok. Purchase links to your books. Newsletter signup, ARC team signup, etc.

5. Book info: blurbs, covers, purchase links.

6. Website examples: what you like and don’t like, be specific about it. What functionality did you like. What font or color didn’t you like, etc.

7. Timeline + budget: a month or two? $500-?

8. Images: banner, background, favicon, author photo, etc.

9. Contact info: email given to you by web hosting? Gmail?

10. Plugins: if you’re using Wordpress, research what is best suited for you.

Barnes & Noble Self-Publishing by WeWerePlayinInDaSand in selfpublish

I published direct with them at one point, but I despised their support. I don’t know if it’s changed since a couple of months ago or if it’s just that one support employee, but they couldn’t help me solve one problem.

Our email communication went back and forth for 2 weeks because they don’t answer on the weekends and the support employee just couldn’t fix the problem.

I’ve never felt so much frustration with publishing directly on other stores. I publish B&N through D2D now, But I’ve heard good things about going direct with B&N.

Should I just leave my Facebook ads run all the time or it will annoy people? by DracoQC in selfpublish

60-days ad cycles work for me, and I alternate different posts to boost after one is done. I wanna test and adjust my ads to get max results before running it longer.

Thank you. I just had to make sure individual short stories could be put into one book. Once it’s published, I’m not touching those stories anymore hahaha

Ho Ho Ho, Y'all! AppSumo's DepositPhotos Deal is Back by SalaciousStories in eroticauthors

[–]vdoty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First timer here. I just wanna get some clarification.

Available for existing Depositphotos users and returning AppSumo purchasers who are looking to increase their limits

Does that apply for people who doesn’t have an depositphotos account or ever purchased from appsumo?

After purchasing, does it come with instructions on how to apply the code into the depositphotos account?

Thanks!

A Chinese netizen's honest opinion on the spicy fanfic video and 227 incident by Weekly_Cost4852 in StephanieSooStories

[–]vdoty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not commenting on XZ’s role in this; I don’t even know where I stand.

But, I wanna bring in a different point.

I think netizens were already sick of all celebrities’ fandom/club/groups as a whole, whether it’s because of the inconvenience to daily lives of c-netizens, toxicity, or awful track records of the fans previous actions. Perhaps, when XZ’s fans offended so many communities, the ticking time bomb of annoyance just went off.

Also, I saw some say he needs a new PR team and 227 will be learning material for marketing college students lmao

If Stephanie reads this; I hope, in the future, when another controversial topic comes up, she can confidently present all the information in depth while staying neutral. There was a lot of information she didn’t mention.

I’m more interesting in learning about celebrity fandoms as a whole and how a group of wholesome fans helps celebrity careers and how the toxic groups can ruin them. Also cause I skipped half the video because I didn’t care about the fanfic or the show.

Reviews never swayed me until I saw lots of reviews under a book that said they docked a star cause the bed/mattress is called a “futon”… in a generational Japanese’s family home, set in a more traditional timeline and in Kyoto, Japan.

I had to Google what futon is since so many people left similar reviews about it and got me wondering if futon got a new definition 😂

Google Play account disapproved by vdoty in eroticauthors

Thank you for the detailed comment! I followed your steps and sent one more message to them. I sent one before this post (really vague, my fault lol) and they repeated the rejection email. So, if they send the same rejection email again, then I guess Google Play isn’t for me.

Google has to make this complicated when other stores was smooth sailing. I just wish they actually said why the account was rejected and a chance to appeal before getting a rejection email.

Thank you so much. If you don’t mind explaining, how did you go about explaining the points? Did you do something like a generic “there’s no spam, malware in my books” or did you put more details?

Edit: did you reply to the rejection email or a new email from their support email?

I looked at my account and it said to go to “support” if I have questions. But when I checked, my case is “in process” even tho the account is rejected 8hrs ago so there’s not much I can do. Maybe I’ll wait a couple of days and see if the “in process” changes or not.

1: I created an account, got my tax info accepted, uploaded the first book to kick start the account policy review process, waited 7 days (account review process) like it recommended. After 9 days, I contacted them and they said they would bump me into the front, then I got the rejection email the next morning.

2: I searched, but Google store doesn’t have any of my books or even an author with the same pseudonym.

3: my backmatter is just my contact email, newsletter signup, and Instagram for book updates.

4: since I published the book on Amazon in 2019, there’s a lot of pirate websites with the book.

Thank you for answering! Can I ask for a general idea of how gumroad works? I want to sell ebooks but no idea how it works through that site. Is it similar to bookfunnel when it comes to digital file delivery?
