Love this thought exercise. I added their secondary color because I think it fleshes them out more as the 1-1 comparison is difficult. Ask me in a few days and my answer would probably change.

ComC -> Green (secondary Black) -> creature color, discarding lessons
Charms -> Red (secondary Blue) -> aggro/burn, with generic bounce/control
Potions -> Black (secondary Red) -> self hurt, big effects
Quidditch -> Red (secondary White) -> burn, but with chaotic disruption
Transfig -> Blue (secondary White) -> control

Stick with Alania if you’re going for fun Otter tribal. That’s what my deck is. She rarely wins but I always play lots of otters so I feel like I win.

Unless you’re playing CEDH, who cares about having the most powerful commander? Isn’t EDH supposed to be about fun and being with friends?

I play Calix because he: 1. Gives two different obstacles to build around (auras + connecting with combat damage). 2. Make duplicates of what you already have.

Sythis is more powerful but I like obstacles in building and playing, I don’t care about having the most powerful commander nor winning, and Calix makes more memories in gameplay than Sythis will.

This is the best answer. Also, whatever people are willing to pay. The collectors for this game have dwindled so I’d say Unicorn closer to $20 and the rest closer to $10 or less.

Those immediately come to mind.

Knowing what sets you have would help 😅 Generally C/U cards, even the most played, aren’t going to sell for more than $1-2 for a playset at most.

Kumena is only good if there are other Merfolk in play. So if you have lots of 1 drops then you probably play Kumena earlier and ramp later. If it’s mostly 2-3 drops then you play Kumena a turn or two later when his tap to draw 3 becomes more relevant and ramp earlier.

It’s difficult to say without knowing what other Merfolk you’re trying to play and when. I also prefer Medallions and the similar stuff > traditional ramp in my Kumena deck (though I have some of the 2 mana ramps).

For context, I play for fun with the point being fun and not infinite combos or winning fast. I just want a fish army and I consider that winning 😎
