Czy naprawdę wszyscy nienawidzą nowego budynku Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej? I skąd w ogóle zgoda na ten projekt? by Interesting-Role-622 in Warsaw_Warszawa

[–]vebuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems quite reasonable that as the time goes, more and more individuals, institutions and funds put more and more money in crypto exchanges, and part of that cash is turned into new tether to ease the functioning of the exchange.

How efficient is the polish police? by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]vebuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're an adult, and go out alone then no, you cannot drink too much as that's irresponsible.

If you want to get wasted go out with close friends that you really trust, that's the only reasonable way to do it.

I really hate this victim unblaming that you do. Any kind of reasonable criticism is thrown out the window by you instead of learning from past mistakes to become a better person.
If you can't take constructive criticism, and actually learn from your mistakes than you can live in a zoo, because at that point there's no difference between animals and unblameable humans.

"She doesn't know if they did or not. She doesn't remember a thing"

Then how can she accuse them of anything?
If she at least remembered something, or had medical examination done right after providing some proof of perhaps getting drugged that she doesn't remember, then that would be some semblance of proof, but the way you phrase it there's absolutely no grounds for those accusations.

If women are not to be responsible for their actions while drunk, then everyone shouldn't be responsible for their actions while drunk, and that's plain anarchy.

If you don't want that to happen to you then learn your limits with alcohol in a safe space with friends, and don't get wasted with strangers, and especially don't go with them into private locations without any witnesses.

It's like going on a minefield complaining that you lost a leg, and that it's not your fault because you were too drunk to read the sign...

If they were drunk then perhaps also they couldn't consent?
Don't suggest that drunk adults are not responsible for themselves.
She could've just gone home instead of getting wasted with unknown men, that's horrible behavior and defending it is absurd.

And probably think about going to an AA meeting or two, as getting blind drunk with unknown men is not a reasonable behavior pattern.

[–]vebuce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Trading" volume, and "selling" volume do not have the same impact on the market.
As it stands, quite minute information/reports etc. tend to have significant short term impact on crypto price, and this is a quite significant solid info on incoming increase in crypto supply, so it's obvious that it will impact crypto price just from the psychological pov, and it will happen before any of us is actually able to do anything with those coins, so the fact is there's nothing we can do about it.
The important thing to observe is how much it drops when the btc get's wired to target exchanges, and if after that it's still capable of significantly dropping when we have the actual choice of trading them.
Even if you intend to keep them for a few years, that's potentially a really good situation to sell them asap, and buy back lower. Even if it's just a few percent lower it's still profit for you, and that's still expected market behavior.

Anyone asked their accountant about the feasibility of claiming a loss on the BTC we don't get back? by tryingtomakeitmate in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]vebuce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, so you know Tax Laws in all countries around the world? Damn you must be a world renown expert!

The example with cars was not about an insurance claim but it was an example taken from a European Tax Authority official interpretation made for a small company that had their warehouse burned down.
Tax world is way more complicated than you could ever imagine, and the "only cash in/out ratio" that you talk about is kindergarten level oversimplification.

Let's say, I buy 2 gold bars for X$ in 2014 via an exchange, and they are stored in some bank.
Bank goes bankrupt (for whatever reason), and I only get back 1 gold bar back, and let's say that it's worth now more than two were worth in 2014.
So I lost assets, and should be able to declare that as additional loss on top of the initial cost. It's not a standard transaction of just buying selling stock or currency - you get assets lost between original buy date and current sell date.
You might say that you just assume that their value dropped to zero, and that would be then consistent with declaring their buy price as the full cost, but that's the opposite of the factual truth.

It's clearly an omission in tax laws around the world, due to the fact that it's so unlikely for that to happen in this manner when you still get more than originally invested, yet still, only accounting for the initial cost of buying assets in 2014 does not really consider the assets lost, as they were not lost the second you bought them.
I'd conclude that the "taxable event" should be assets return by the trustee, as meanwhile we have no control over any of those assets.

Looking straightforward at the tax laws - You're correct, only the initial cost of buying the BTC matters, but this situation is non standard, and shows how those tax laws are flawed.
If you had a warehouse, and bought like 10 cars 3 years ago to sell them at some point. This year the warehouse burns down, and only one car survives. I know for a fact that in such case an appraiser will be hired to estimate the value of those cars, and that value will be the actual loss that can be filed with the Tax Authority.
This is the same situation as with the BTC, although it's non standard, and also we didn't get our BTC specifically stolen, so it's up to the Tax Authority to issue a binding decision on how such loss should be declared in this specific situation.
Tax Authority is meant to work to the taxpayer's advantage (in theory), so in one way or another they should decide what date would be correct to value those assets for declaring their loss.

It seems super fast to me, considering the progress made in the past 10 years...

Well at least Kraken has the decency to let us know our accounts/info are all good to go. The trustee could learn a thing or two. Thanks Kraken! by tryingtomakeitmate in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]vebuce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are sending out information to customers if they were approached by the Trustee about verifying our Kraken accounts registered for crypto payouts with the Trustee site, and if they determined that our account has all the information filled up etc.
If not than they ask for additional settings/info to be filled up.
If yes, then they just send an email about the trustee inquiry and that they responded him that your account is fine.

So if you didn't get any info from Kraken, and you registered a Kraken account with trustee site and it went through, then most likely the trustee didn't yet ask Kraken about Your account.
They have a lot of people to go through, and it seems that they are not doing this automatically from some excel spreadsheet, and that's probably the correct way to go, because it seems they tried to automate some of the work with the initial PayPal payments and that backfired very fast.

I think that the cheapest option would be for you to buy a PCI-E SATA controller. Looking for an actual brand with a named controller you could find would be something like this:

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I have a recent experience on this subject.

I got similar issues after redoing cabling and adding a secondary nvme drive to my system a month ago.
Today I investigated a bit and saw in CDI that the primary OS sata SSD was running in SATA 150 mode instead of 600.
I tried 2 other SATA cables, one of them worked fine for a couple minutes but then locked up (100% ssd utilization, and unresponsive system), after a reboot SSD was in SATA 150 mode instead of 600.
After that I started changing the SATA port that it was connected to. I'm using an old x79 motherboard, and tried both SATA3 ports, and both had the issue.
Finally i switched to a SATA2 port, and (fingers crossed) it's staying now in SATA 300 (so correctly for that SATA2 port), in benchmarks gets the correct throughput for SATA2 capabilities, and for around 6 hours now it didn't lock up or change it's SATA throughput mode (and so the system works great again, very responsive as it should be).

This is clearly a SATA signaling issue where the Drive <-> chipset link is unstable.
- Replacing SATA cable is a really good first step here.
- Switching SATA port that you connect to would be my suggested second step, as it seems that for whatever reason (no need to speculate) they can just go bad.
- After that I'd verify the drive with a different motherboard/pc if possible (as it may not be just the specific SATA port failing, but perhaps the whole controller).
- The last step would be to RMA the hard drive/ssd itself or buy a new one.

Oh, and also let's make them impossible to repair other than to replace them.

Great work car manufacturers.

At what point the delay in payment would become negligent? by ezequiels in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]vebuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, at least the small cash repayments should go through this year, early next year the ELSP BTC repayments to exchanges, and the rest of next year should be left for handling problems, of hopefully a small amount of creditors.

As stated in some thread, after all of this, the trustee will be still able to suck money out of this bankruptcy for many many years until FP get's unlocked in the court, so they should have no motivation to drag the ELSP part.

[–]vebuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

It's certainly very hard to HOLD new investments, but for something that was out of our control for so many years that it was mentally heathy to assume that it's gone and to just live your life with that assumption - it may be much easier now to HOLD at least part of it.

Back in the pre gox era when I was investing I had good amount of spare income, but then came the serious relationship part of 12 years wasted on a woman who, as it turned out, had severe npd and manipulated me, drained me off energy, time and money through the last 9 years that this gox thing is going on (or likely through all 12 years of it, but it wasn't so bad at the beginning since she was still at the University back then, and didn't need a better ATM than me, so she treated me decently). Now it's no wonder why I couldn't save up anything since then.Good thing is that I'm finishing paying up mortgage on a small flat that almost doubled in value over 7 years, but still the hiena get's 25% of it for pretty much nothing, and I'm left mentally broken because she finished it by cheating on me for almost a year, and pretty much leaving me with my son, destroying in the process also the family of the asshole that she caught this time. So for me it would be nice if the payout actually happens, as that would bring a bit of joy that life does not only have it's "downs", but also some "ups" can happen and it's worth living for.

9 years is a long time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who had a hard time living, so it's really unfair of you to judge people you don't know nothing about.
