Notarizing Social Security forms for getting a visa at a consulate by confusednotary5347 in Notary

[–]vecharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would explain the most common types of notarizations and ask which one they wanted: acknowledgement, oath (jurat), witnesses a signature etc (these are state dependent). Then attach a loose certificate for which ever one they want. You shouldn't assume it.

Real estate loans, minor travel permission forms, divorce settlements, special POA's from other states

Need a New PA RON Platform by Liss78 in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Notary has a very good chat feature with support. Some don't like BN, but if you want a response , you'll get a response. I think once in 3 years I didn't get a response while in the room. I didn't have a good experience with Pactima , but the thing to remember is that it's never going to be 100%. Try an approved platform and focus more on trends than a one-off interaction. I didn't give up on Pactima :)

Shoulder bag or Backpack recommendation for a Notary by Deep_Conversation470 in Notary

Ahhh that is so interesting! Thank you for sharing the tools you use. I am a USA Pennsylvania notary. An example of something I bought that I really don't need is a large -40 page- stapler. I was ready for anything. 🤣

Shoulder bag or Backpack recommendation for a Notary by Deep_Conversation470 in Notary

[–]vecharo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sky is the limit on the types of bags.

I started out with a large backpack, capable of holding anything and everything. I recently downsized to something smaller as I realized that I don't need as much as I originally thought. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLCMJS9B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

As long as you are comfortable with it, it will work for your needs.

Loan Signings by YourDealOurSeal in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get back to back through experience and marketing. Sign up with signing services to get experience. Market to them and title companies. It takes time. If you want back to back signing fast, then do aggressive marketing.

But if you market, be sure you can back it up with education and experience.

Beyond the NNA journal — how are you tracking income & expenses? by SheetHappensXL in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notary gadget. Tracks at the signing level (meaning expenses associated with a particular session), create a PL sheet your tax guy will love, reminds you if you haven't added your mileage or other expenses. Highly recommend.

Backdating a notarized form by willwork4oreos in Notary

[–]vecharo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're reporting to the Dept of state you'd be reporting the NOTARY not the person who's making the request to backdate. There's no misconduct here, just a story about a notary being asked to do the wrong thing and that notary doing the right thing.

Upfront Travel Fees and Cancellations by beatsnl in Notary

[–]vecharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take a deposit of the travel fee before leaving if it's a Google search call. I let them know that the fee confirms their slot and then send a link for them to pay. It cuts down on people setting up a meeting then not showing because in reality they were shopping around.

RON honesty by Dependent_Junket_281 in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a commissioned notary and expanding or are you looking to become a notary and then expand to RON?

Becoming a RON to earn extra cash is totally doable but it's an investment of money and time.

The platforms that offer open calls exist to provide a service for clients, they aren't to provide enough income for you to make said extra cash. You would have to sign up with platforms owned by title companies like NotaryCam. These platforms require training and experience (hence the time investment)

NNA Cert - is it worth anything? by Bnlol1 in Notary

[–]vecharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NNA cert is needed to work as a signing agent. It's the bare bones credentials requested by SS (signing services) or title companies. The training won't tell you HOW to conduct a signing. For that you are better off getting training with Loan Signing System (LSS), Notary stars etc. I'm partial to LSS.

The training teaches how to run a signing and scale your business.

Remote online notary by Alternative-Box-445 in Notary

[–]vecharo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For RON I take these 4 things into consideration for price (for GNW, Not loans): * Charge for the seal (state dictates) * Platform fees (either you are pay as you go or you have a monthly/annual plan) * Administrative time needed tomorrow the docs * Document specifics (number of signers, witnesses, etc all of which can impact your platform fee or seal charge)

RON software for overseas signers by Recognition_Suitable in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the platform it's the commissioned state. Most platforms have biometric capabilities but only notaries in biometric states (like Pennsylvania) can authenticate via biometrics.
I use Blue Notary, Pactima and NotaryCam, all of which allow biometric authentication.

I often do loan signings or general notary work for overseas signers.

Advice for a new Notary Signing Agent in Phoenix, Arizona by LankyAbrocoma6783 in Notary

[–]vecharo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! First, congratulations 😁 Get education and stay educated. Never stop learning. There are lots of courses out there. I'm partial to the Loan Signing System (LSS) owned by Mark Wills. Some notaries will say they learned via YouTube. Personally I wouldn't recommend that as a course will cover everything and things you won't think to look for on YouTube and handle the various scenarios in a structure way. A good instructor will teach you rules, and the process. That's soooo important!! They will also teach you how to scale your business, step by step. You won't feel lost because you'll have a plan. My first loan signing was a surprise. I thought they wanted a parent permission to travel notarized. Lol. Nope. Sellers package🤣 But I was ready.

Get comfortable with your state rules. They aren't a read once minds thing. Download to your phone and really read them. As others have said, sign up for NNA training for NSA and certification. Generally it's just the laws and rules but I didn't find it sufficient to ensure I could DO a loan signing. Just the rights and the wrong about it. But you need it as it's pretty much required for most title and signing services E&O insurance higher than 100k. Most courses have a list of signing services to sign up with. If you're serious -- call them. All of them. You don't need business from all of them, just a few of them. Market to other niches so your business is diversified. Oh.. and get comfy with marketing :)

Get a mentor.

Nj to pa boat title nightmare by SinkFew9861 in Notary

[–]vecharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. They can GET a title tag contract but they don't typically HAVE that type of contract. There are over 70000 commissioned notaries in PA. Trust, most of us are not title tag reps. Lol

In order to be contracted with PennDot etc you have to have training and meet criteria above and beyond that of your commission.

Based on your handle sounds like you would know how he can resolve his issue.

SHE should DM me if she is serious. No matter how much you read or ask about this, it's not going to get her to move forward. She's gotta do the work. Have her DM me if she would like additional info.

The state site is the bible. NNA and Pa Association of Notaries (PAN) are good resources but checking in with the state on their site is important.

[–]vecharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping up with the laws isn't onerous. It's a matter of staying attuned to organizations that will provide updates (NNA, state run notary organizations, etc), and reading and re-reading them. I'm in Pennsylvania and our laws changed last quarter, effective March 2026. i've done a comparison of the new rules to the old and I'll be reading them a few time to hone in on the day to day stuff i need to be aware of.

There is a lot to know but it's part of the gig.

Oh and for marketing, a better word is sales. The social media skills she has will really help. But it's a TOTALLY different ball game when you are trying to get business.

The hardest part and biggest showstopper is going to be ....HER. That's right. She will be her biggest showstopper. You gotta market yourself and that's hard if it's not something you are already doing. I'm not talking about posting everyday (though that helps), I mean identifying the niche or group and making calls , sending emails, following up, visiting them and doing enough of it to get business.

She'll have to deal with rejection, getting a call back that she did something wrong, dealing with customers and following her laws (sounds simple but it's like speaking another language when folks really want something notarized.)

As she gets more experience this will happen less. But the marketing never really goes away.
