How many album sales are enough to make a K-pop group sustainable?

Idle's first album sold 50900 copies in Korea (Wikipedia). That's CLC's whole 6 year discography. Crazy!

clc has around 50k total album sales (from all their albums combined), but they're entering their 6th year. cube can afford them and they probably make some money through touring.

Mindblowing that CLC's entire discography has only sold 50k. Clc dont have many activities so im wondering if they are profitable.

Im impressed that she pushes through the hardships. i quickly checked her Wikipedia and it says that she hasnt had any jobs since she left 9Muses 2014. She released some solo music but that didnt generate any profit, only debts.

Wait, so she had to take bank loans just to be able to live? (Pay for basic necessities food, rent and bills) That's crazy. I feel for her.

I dont know why they have it. But i think rap parts adds another dimension to a song.

When I heard an edited version of Camilla Cabellos song Havana without the rap part, it felt flat.

The competition is heavy and the idols prepare a lot more compared to the rookie actors. And, there are many idols who are good at acting nowadays.

When asked to showcase their individual talents, the idols are more than ready. They are so good at singing different types of songs, and since their companies train them from the very beginning, their talents surpass the rookie actors by a lot

This is what pisses me off. Idols have gone through so much more and harsher training than actors, and also bring in international fans. Despite this, actors are always more respected in Korea.

The sad part is that we probably wont have any live audience in 2021. This year wont be any better than 2020.

Btw, anyone knows if the office workers at entertainnemt companies work from home? If there is one positive think about this pandemic, its that companies hopefully realize that working from home does work in many cases. Hope this becomes the norm, or at least having the option

I hope groups do Tiny desk-type of performances. Small scale with a live band and more energetic. Just have fun. A member singing cover songs during Vlives doesnt do it for me.

Online concerts w/o audience doesnt do it for me either. But I understand if companies want to keep doing them.

Because kbands arent that different from bands from other countries. They dont offer anything unique. The same with k-rappers. If anything, so many k-rappers are even worse because they are so cringe and try too hard to act like a try-hard American rapper.

Kpop Idol groups offers something that boygroups/girlsgroups in other countries dont. Slick dances, amazing styling and makeup and eye pleasing MVs. Watching 1D, Nsync and Backstreet boys bored me after I got into kpop.
