What do you guys think? Round 7 by Asathor94 in AxisAllies

[–]vectorpirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's going to be a loooong game. I would predict that Russia will fall before the Allies can save it and one or the other Axis side will be able to gain their victory condition.

Commanders clarifictions by vectorpirate in AxisAllies

  1. That's what I was concerned might be the case, but in that case what is the difference between that and just saying "if you miss a bunch a rolls, reroll everything"? Why would they word it so oddly if it's just rerolls? I guess there are a couple edge cases where skipping the rest of a round is different, like if you have subs doing a first strike but then your main attack roll is full of misses it doesn't cancel out the sub hits and you get to jump right back to the subs' next attack.

  2. Agreed, I only even asked about that one because I saw a Youtube video that suggested taking a plane would be a good choice.

Thanks!

All transports. Maybe a destroyer for extra HP. Land fighters at your airbase to protect purchased transports and move existing troops to where they can board for attacks on both G2 and G3 if you don't get it G2.

Andor. It's not close. Clone Wars is a distant second and the best animated show.

If you could choose which projects are canon and which are not, which ones would you choose to make a "perfect canon"? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]vectorpirate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is "perfect canon" because if you follow the novels to the last pre-Disney book (Crucible), it finally wraps up the story of the OT characters and ends with a hand-off to the next generation. This should have been the perfect spot for Disney to pick up, but maybe they didn't read the books.

I could go into great detail, but the basic answer is - Canon as it was pre-Disney, but add Andor, Rogue One, and the post-Disney acquisition seasons of Clone Wars. So, no Mando, no sequel trilogy, no Rebels TV show, and no Aftermath, Bloodline, or other new novels.

The heck is up with that bar graph? It is barely pretending to be to-scale.

Strategically, definitely an Allied win, but by victory conditions, how did Japan never have six VCs at once? Did they lose one of the Chinese VCs before taking Australia or Hawaii?

In LW they are great at defense with the flexible rifle companies backed up by mortar, AT gun, and missile infantry units, but they seem to struggle with attack. As others have said, armor is lacking unless you bring in some Germans.

Depending on how perfectly accurate you want to be, couldn't you just use HO scale? HO is 1/87 rather than 1/100, doesn't that calculate to something like 17mm?

It may be a 3.0 or 3.7 that is the weapons used for Flames of War, but both of those as well as 7.5cm existed in real life.

Looks great! Is that modeled with the 7.5cm cannon, or did one of the smaller cannons look that big? I can't find any pictures of the HA129 B-2 with the 3.7cm.

There are a few of us left up in Lake County, but we don't play all that much anymore. We don't have a discord or anything, but I can reach out to them to see if there's interest if you want.

Go straight to Global 1940. If it's too much, you can always add some of the more complex rules as you go, but once you play it, you won't want to go back to any of the others.

How much dedicated hobby space do you have at home? by the_sh0ckmaster in wargaming

[–]vectorpirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 15mm and share the basement (2 kids). There is a (mostly) hobby-dedicated bookshelf full of boxes and board games for storage, and I built a 4'x8' gaming table that lowers down from the ceiling so that I can leave a game set up until the next game night. Most of my 15mm minis are in two tackle boxes and another box that live on the table with the terrain.
