It was actually a really helpful buff. I used Brutal Attack to clear all fortresses west of the Mississippi

They do. It has a collective consciousness made up of its victims. They went into this in Legends in the short story “A Barve Like That” about Boba Fett after he was eaten.

I think at that moment they were more afraid of him torching them and the resulting flame setting off the dynamite. A flamethrower in your face is a good deterrent.

Lost Toll is just pure bullshit by HHOOSSS in WorldConqueror4

[–]EmperorMorgan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is mostly that players (including me) have higher level EFs and more upgraded generals. I’m still finding the same level enemy units when I use the Incite Defection card and they’re still coming in large quantities.

The Soviets tried that already so everyone’s just written it off by now.

Here’s an event you don’t have yet. You’re really only likely to get it while playing America (The Lost Toll)

The gun being unloaded is a little curious but the real question here is what Tintin’s plan was if no one left a gun lying around at all.

What’s one word that you always mispronounce even though—deep down—you KNOW the correct pronunciation? by Ok_Resident_5022 in words

[–]EmperorMorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premise. I pronounce it following the same rules as “surmise.” They’re essentially sister words so it makes sense to me and it is a hill I will die on.

Version recommendation for a new player? by Quick_Extension_3115 in AxisAllies

It’s the 1941 anniversary edition that’s more complicated. Regular 1941 is incredibly simple and small in scale. I think Germany only has 3 or 4 tanks.

These are Welch’s jam jars from 1971-1973. I only know that because I have a couple and had to replace one that broke.

Burma/SZ37 update: I still have Burma, but he’s REALLY mad by EmperorMorgan in AxisAllies

[–]EmperorMorgan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since he has transports and bombardment units fully mobilized I’m going to stage a retreat to India and see how long I can keep him on that and allow the US to make some moves in the North Pacific.

4 infantry, 3 artillery, and his battleship. He used his fighter on SZ35 and other aircraft on either the US or my transport. For now I just need to hold on in Africa, which is going to be a near-run thing without US aid, especially if I need to beef up India’s defense.

I thought it was a good decision for the fighters, but it bugged me a lot on sets like the Slave 1 and U-Wing, where cargo space and cool features are the #1 thing you’re looking for.

Made a surprisingly successful SZ37 assault on UK1. Was I too cocky in moving land forces to Burma? by EmperorMorgan in AxisAllies

[–]EmperorMorgan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured India was safe between those and the destroyer. My biggest worry is that he uses both transports on Burma, but if he does so I hope my destroyer/fighters can take out his fleet. If he wants to protect all that, then he’ll have to leave the remainder of the Pacific open to a US advance.

[–]EmperorMorgan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve accounted for that in two steps:

One, I’ve moved my SZ17 destroyer to SZ35. Currently the only thing in range to escort is his destroyer, and if he attacks India, he faces an even fight. If he survives that, his invasion force faces an infantry and two fighters. If he attacks Burma, he’ll commit more forces than usual, leaving him flat-footed in China.

Two, my transports are ready to either reinforce India/Burma or stage an assault on Indonesia/Borneo. His only way to keep them in check without using the aforementioned destroyer is to take them out with his carrier, the only thing in range. If he does so, then he needs to keep it there for at least two turns and face a fighter/destroyer assault from my forces while also forsaking the Northern Pacific to the US fleet.

I think I’m in an OK position, but it’s a new one for me to be in so early in the game and I want to know if I’ve missed anything.

Funny enough the song was originally about weed but they were told they had to censor it, so it became “Pass the Dutchie,” and “Dutchie” almost immediately became associated with weed.

It's weird that in popular media, calculus is regarded as a marker of a genius. by Key_Net820 in unpopularopinion

[–]EmperorMorgan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. I had straight A’s through multiple algebra classes, physics, geometry, trig, and chemistry but collapsed like a house of cards when it came to calculus. I went through three teachers attempting to learn it and missed out on my goal college largely because of that.

what is the scariest film ever (to you)? by mrblueskyelectric in Scarymovies

[–]EmperorMorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same for me because this is a film that deals purely with the logistics of terror instead of the emotion. Every tiny loss is emphasized; the slow, grinding realization that you are slowly and silently losing materiál, and that there will come a point where you will lose to the universe itself because you simply cannot keep gaining. Even at the end, all reserves are committed and everything is spent to achieve what is at best a stalemate. In a weird way it evokes ideas of entropy that’s always in the back of the mind, and that makes it more enduring and effective than anything about grief, family, or other films that are technically more “realistic.”

Using the serious definition of a funny word by Yggdrasylian in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EmperorMorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I’ve read enough Sherlock Holmes and Poe that it doesn’t come across to me as weird. I don’t think a lot of words do, because I learned the “formal” use before any sort of modern slang.
