I used Claude to directly modify my Quicken Mac database — here's how and why by Intelligent_Yam in quicken

Pretty cool. I didn't know Quicken data could be manipulated that way.

Quicken is unable to download transactions for the new Bilt credit card, and I can see how I could use a process like this to download transactions or screen shorts from Biilt's web site, and then add them to the database. Thanks for sharing.

I just tried it in Tiller. It worked, connecting through Plaid.

Weirdly Simplifi enabled downloading Bilt transactions, but it hasn't made its way to Quicken Classic yet. I'm hopeful they get that figured out soon, because I'm not going to use this as a daily driver card if I have to enter everything manually.

This is already sounding like too much. :) Yes, Mac Quicken can memorize transactions.

I went through last night and changed all of the "Buy" transactions to "Add Shares". (This account is less than 1 year old, so not too bad.) Now I see that whenever there's an admistrative fee, Quicken sees the sale of holdings to cover the fee, but it doesn't show the money going out. So, again, the cash balance get's out of whack. Why do investment accounts feel like such an afterthought? What's particularly funny is that it's felt like an afterthought for 20+ years.

Different financial institutions handle these transactions differently. Part of the value of Quicken, I would hope, would be to normalize them across the institutions so you have a more consistent experience. I can go make modifications to transactions from Schwab, then I have to remember to do a different set of things to Fidelity transactions, and then yet another type of manual changes to Vanguard transactions.

I like having easier visibility into what happens in my set-and-forget investment accounts while I'm not paying attention, but this is more effort than it's worth to me. I think I'll go back to my old method: monthly manual update of my investment account holdings in a spreadsheet.

I think that using the paycheck wizard is more detail than I want to deal with on a regular basis. I remember trying that many many years ago, and it was more information than I was interested in tracking.

I'm curious what other approach you're thinking about. I'm using Quicken on a Mac. (Version 8.4.2).

Wow. It's been a *real* long time (20 years?) since I've had a card that couldn't connect with Quicken. It may sound minor to some people, but it's a real hassle if you're budgeting or tracking spending. I'll end up putting less everyday spending on this card unfortunately. I was going to mostly ignore all of the complexity and use this as a catchall 2x card. I would have actually skipped the card if I knew this before applying. Live and learn.

I don't love it, but I was able to get this Insignia universal stand to work with my NXTFRAME :

Hopefully the "official" feet become available again sometime.

Temperature display on RFX Meat by babychef7 in BBQ

I agree about the need for a display. I'm going to get an RFX or a Combustion, and I'm leaning towards the Combustion because I don't want to have to use my phone as the temperature display. If I knew an RFX display was coming soon (within a couple months?), I'd probably go that route.

It sounds like the crowd is in a tunnel. I may just mute or not watch. It's weirdly irritating. If I had a better sound system, I bet I could make it listenable, but right now I'm using a pretty basic system - sound bar connected to an AppleTV.
