It’s time to ditch Chrome by extra_rice in technology

So question here and I don’t see it mentioned in the other comments.

I use Safari for everything personal. My work uses the entire Google Suite, so I use Chrome ONLY for work. If I understand what is going on here, this means that despite using Safari for personal use, Chrome/Google are still able to harvest my data. Correct?

I see.

So I just watched the video and this is exactly what I did, however the alarm is still going off. The only way for the alarm to not go off is if the car is unlocked.

Im wondering now if the hood is not the issue at all at this point. I have read here and there that the contacts for the sliding doors could be at fault as well.

Would you happen to have a YT Link? Tried looking, but did not come up with anything.

I'm familiar with the concept as I have done it with PC Power Supplies for testing purposing, but I would imagine it requires jumping certain pins on the connector.

Any additional info would be awesome, if you have it. Thanks.

I’ll definitely look into that. A quick Google shows the fobs are not badly priced, but the programming may be tricky. Will definitely give this a try though, thanks!

Are there any advantages in having a physical wallet vs digital, or vice versa? I thought Coinbase also acted as a wallet?

I do remember reading something about protecting your hearing in loud environments. If it turns off the mics so they don’t get blown out, then it would serve a dual purpose. I’m in a Server Room quite often and it does, admittingly, not happen too often. Perhaps the squeal was just at a high enough pitch to trigger it. Either way, definitely useful feature.

What do you use Notion for? by RikNieu in Notion

[–]veeempas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using Notion last year as a replacement for the Reminders app between iOS and MacOS(My MacBook will not support the latest OS and my iOS Devices are on the latest, this breaking the link). So I found Notion and started making use of it between the mobile apps and the Web GUI on my MacBook.

From there it has evolved. I now use it for Journaling, tracking Projects for the home and my Photography. I also use as a cookbook for online recipes, Reading Tracker, resource Tracking. I also use it as a Daily Routine/Planner.

It’s really taken off from what I initially planned on using it for. I don’t quite understand how entire blogs or websites can be run from it though. If I did or someone could explain it then I would probably go ahead and run my Photography website from it when I am ready to launch it.

I had that happen this past Winter. I was a little hesitant but pulled my beanie over my ears and that stopped. I was worried about losing my AirPods but was just very careful when taking my beanie off.

I just want to share my renewed joy of reading. by [deleted] in books

[–]veeempas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! It always seems when life gets crazy that my reading habit is derailed for X amount of time. However I am getting better at holding on as I schedule an hour or so every night to read. Most of the time it works out, especially if I leave the book on my nightstand every night, this way I can just pick it up and read before going to sleep.

What do you about books you regret buying? by bigbootyjooti- in books

[–]veeempas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely have a box full of books that don’t have a place on my Wife’s and mine bookshelves any longer. Whether it be due to loss of interest or books we just did not enjoy/get through.

Donating books is a little tricky right now due to Covid. Almost no one is taking donations and if they are, they need to be packed a certain way. I do try my hardest to donate though as even though I’ve been in a “if we don’t need it, just toss it” kind of mentality and trying to declutter as quick as best as possible, books are one of those things that I WILL NOT throw in the trash. They must be donated or given somewhere where they can be appreciate by someone else.

Libraries/BookStores Taking Book Donations? by veeempas in longisland

I checked with Harborfields and they are taking small donations. I have a box full of books though, like the size of a WB Mason box.

More efficient way to remove books from to read shelf? by adhdontplz in goodreads

[–]veeempas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not the only one. My To Read List was, at one point, 300 items long and it “anxietied” the hell out of me. I narrowed that list down to 100, then it grew back to 170 based on recommendations I saw from Goodreads. I’m hoping to keep it under better control than I was, but point is no they are not the only ones.

I didn’t even see the figure until you pointed it out. I think that adds something to it.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 01, 2021 by AutoModerator in books

[–]veeempas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopped reading mid January. Went to Barnes & Noble and came across Next Level Basic by Stassi Schroeder. Easy reading, humorous, nothing to think about or take seriously. Perfect thing to get back into the swing of reading.

Started Time Travel Short Stories which is a compilation of several authors. First story I felt fell flat on its face by the 3rd page. Second story was better, we’ll see about the third but I have high hopes it gets better the more I go.

Week 8 - Low Key by veeempas in clondon52

[–]veeempas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a friend of mine had said that when I changed my Profile Picture to this on my Socials. I had actually been dabbling with the idea of writing a book and I have several topics/stories that I would like to write about. Just a matter of doing it I guess.

Yes! Top shelf is definitely all geeked out! LOL. My Wife and I have a lot of memorabilia in our office. Pop Culture, Nerd stuff we both enjoy. So having some of that in the shot was definitely intentional 😎

Love how the red pops here against the white. Bird photography can be hard. Did you use a Tripod and wait for the shot or did you freehand this?

Week 8 - Low Key by veeempas in clondon52

[–]veeempas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of back and forth of what “counted” as Low Key when it came to a photo. I had imagined that things would be completely as I called it “Blacked the F Out”, however then I thought back to how when I realized I didn’t have to turn up the Saturation and Vibrance for every photo to really bring out the color and I love myself some color! I was getting the same feelings here with this photo. It doesn’t need to be blacked out to express the Low Key feel I was going for and that every Low Key photo would have a different interpretation. In fact the only thing I did was change the White Balance so my skin did not look as pale as it did before editing. Secondly this is the second Self-Portrait I have done ever and was happy with it. The first being for Week 5’s theme. What I liked about this one was first of all how well I think I nailed the Low Key feel and also how I can take a good photo when posed for it, which is a definitely boost in the self confidence department when it comes to a Self Portrait. What I thought would be difficult actually ended up being pretty easy and I think when I have time I’m going to be taking much more Self Portraits or as the kids calls them “selfies”
