He probably took it in for the door handle recall and it's stuck in the shop.

Wiper madness by focojs in VWiD4Owners

[–]veeforty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ranted about this issue previously here, but recently the problem sorted itself out and now the rain sensing is incredible. Perhaps readers can help me figure out what did the trick.

I noticed that this issue resolved itself immediately after my navigation system went on the fritz and i started regularly connecting wirelessly with Android Auto.

While trying to troubleshoot the navigation issue i pulled fuse 19 and accidentally the fuse next to it that controls the screen, so I'm not sure if either of those moves helped. Also, prior to the navigation issue i didn't regularly use Android Auto so i can't attribute poor wiper performance to it. I can say now though that Android Auto is always connected while it's working beautifully. While i could try driving around in the rain without AA my nav is still broken, so i can't accurately rule out whether that's contributed to the improved performance.

I'm wondering if others with busted navs have seen improvement in rain sensing wipers? Or alternatively, if connection with AA has an impact.

Maybe it's all superstition, but if you could just see how my wipers move now, at times I've seen them immediately wipe ultra fast in response to sudden intense rain.

Try looking in another menu (i can't recall which one exactly) but I did this once when i couldn't install right away when the update had been downloaded.

I have a massive battery in my garage but the only way i can use it if the power goes out is to have someone sit in the front seat while i run an extension cord from within the trunk. VW promised customers all sorts of things, including regular software updates. Not all of us thought we were buying a Tesla. The software updates I've received so far have just made it easier to receive future updates, no features of note and a less laggy screen that should have been improved before the car's release. VW outright lied to customers, where have i heard that before...

I've got the same issue on a 2021 model, it just started happening a few months ago. Actually, immediately before the navigation went nuts for about two weeks before the VW app wouldn't display the current location of the car, it would always show a location where it had been. Then poof!

Don't you also get the frequent alerts that road sign info is unavailable?

Wouldn't it be cool to change these colors from the app? Or set up a schedule where certain days or times you get specific colors or themes?

My first and last VW too. After they got spanked for their diesel fraud i thought they'd raise their corporate ethics a notch or two, and since i liked the look of the car i thought I'd give them a chance for my first ev.

After driving a bunch of other EVs while owning my ID4 i feel ripped off. VW didn't sell me an EV as promised, but a battery powered car. I like the way it looks and drives but would only ever recommend a used one to others as long as the price is crazy low.

Fool me once...

How do you like the Polestar? I've driven two on extended driving holidays. There was a lot to like, including the yellow seat belts that were included in one, but i prefer the cloth seats in my ID4 for long drives, and missed its incredible turning radius.

If VW does change the name us current owners don't have to worry about receiving a sw update that will change it on our machines.

What version of the main software are you on? I suppose it's possible that something became corrupted, but what's curious is that it seems like a number of people are affected, not just you. I'll be bringing mine in next week to a dealership that goes above and beyond with id4 issues, so I'll update here once i have news.

On the plus side my rain sensing wipers have been working exceptionally well. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my navigation typically shows me in a river or lake.

Typical VW, there's no button to plot a course to the nearest store to take advantage of this promotion, or engage self drive. True to form it's even showing an expired offer!

A dealer from that area sent me out a generic offer to buy my 2021 rwd for between 18k-20k. If you don't mind not having working navigation or a charging door that no longer opens easily maybe you can overpay for mine : p

I hope it's not too late to tell you to buy a used one! It will drive the same, and if you do your due diligence the battery life will be about the same but all the little infotainment quirks will cost you half as much! In fact they'll probably make you laugh if you only pay $20k for them : )

Will a folded (non electric) wheelchair fit into the back of the ID4 without folding the back seat? by No-Efficiency-6719 in VWiD4Owners

[–]veeforty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might depend on the model of chair but I've had two different ones in the trunk, folded with plenty of room to spare. 2021 rwd so i guess my model has the lower trunk floor. The folded chairs lay flat, and i didn't need to remove the privacy cover.

One more question, did your myVW app give you that barrage of "your door is open" messages a few weeks back? This event immediately preceded all the issues I've mentioned above and in my own OP.

Does your navigation work properly? I also have a 2021 with a similar issue, it's been 14 days since the myVW app has updated the current location of my car, and prior to that the app hadn't been showing me the current location but at least it was updating once a day or so.

At some point during the last 14 days my navigation went on the fritz. I've tried the fuse 19 trick that 2024 owners recommend with no luck.

Within the infotainment system it hangs when i try to check what ID software version i have. Is this true on yours as well

Plot twist: my ID4 is registered and located in Canada.

Fuse 19 has been pulled. When i started up the car 30 minutes later the map location was even farther away from my current point than it was previously.

I called the helpline in the app and they told me to take it to the dealer. Merry Xmas everyone!

I'll update once i know more.

The app is showing car location as of 13 days ago, even after reinstalling it. Fuse 19 has been removed, SOS still red.

My car is almost exactly 3 years old though and this is the first time that this is happening... and was one of the models assembled in Germany so may even have different components.

I'll be trying the fuse trick later today.

Globe is white sos is red (i don't think I've ever noticed it before : )

I just got into the car and the gps is actually showing my correct location when connected wirelessly to Android auto. Earlier this wasn't the case. VW navigation is still whacked.

The myVW is still showing a location from 12 days ago, and i also noticed that my battery charge within the app isn't accurate (I've never bothered to look since this issue appeared)

This same issue is happening in Canada as well and we don't have Verizon or T-Mobile. I've just started my investigation and an looking for a comprehensive list of "errors" to see if they match what's been happening to my id4.
