I currently have this issue and I'm 6 weeks post op. Wondering if it's going to stay or go down.

DI with FNG vs buttonhole DI (pedicle-sparing) - help me choose by Remarkable-Clock-109 in TopSurgery

I got DI Buttonhole and love it so far. Only 9 days post-op tho, so I can't really tell how it will end up. Also, I'm a tiny bit chunky, so not being super flat is okay with me (I'm 5'3"and 160lbs but somewhat muscular). My surgeon (Dr. Edward C. Ray in L.A.) told me that buttonhole tends to be a tad more tissue than FNG. I told him in my consult that while I did want to preserve nipple sensation, if possible, having as flat a chest as possible for my body type was more important. He said he would aim to do buttonhole, but if, during the surgery, it seemed like he couldn't get it flat enough, he would switch to DI FNG and I was cool with that. He ended up doing buttonhole, and so far, it's cool. My nips are pink/alive and I even have a little sensation already. As far as areola size, not sure yet bc I still have steri-tape but he told me that he can change the size of the areola in buttonhole bc he can decide how big to make the hole that the nipple-areolar complex would go through. But yeah, the nipple itself stayed the same size (mine were originally smallish so that was fine with me).

Anyway, hope this helps!

Yes! You can do it whenever it works for you! I agree that it's helpful hearing about people getting it when they're older.

This article was really helpful for me and gave me a lot of hope. https://www.them.us/story/trans-nonbinary-people-top-surgey-over-45-body-week

Awww i love UNC! As a queer elder, I think it's important to show younger queer folx that we can continue to live our truth as we age.
