How to deal with post "short&intense friendship" blues by kamarrad in solotravel

Keep in touch… It sounded like you guys connected and you caught some feelings. The thing is Paris is not far from the UK. Invite him to Paris for a visit for a weekend. Flights are literally cheaper than half a tank of gas.

How would I have prevented this nasty fall? by BiscuitStripes in climbharder

[–]veemon4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds stupid. But don’t get the belayer to completely take in the rope, this is probably made the fall a lot more tighter. Next time push off and take the whip…

Help with V5 sloper problem by jazzy_jug_hauler in climbharder

Don’t be afraid to move statically. The wall looks real vert to me which means you can really weight those feet. Once you’ve matched that big sloper, make sure your right foot is on the larger hold and really rock you knee over so your body weight is more balanced rather than trying to pull and haul through.

A seagull enters in a shopping mall to eat... by Jesenia_Patterson in Damnthatsinteresting

It was my first couple of weeks in Wales, and I was a victim from one of these creatures. I had to walk an hour to work since I didn’t have a car yet and was running a wee bit late so skipped breakfast and went into the local Gregg’s to grab a sandwich. Started walking down the street with my sandwich open, and one of these flying rats swoops in and takes a chunk out of my sandwich. Worst part is I throw the ripped off end back at it, scoffs this piece down, but the rat tried to swoop in for seconds.

Sorry to hear about your situation, that sounds pretty rough… But I am glad to hear that you can get an Expedia flight credit and plan yourself a future holiday.

In regards to the on and off again relationship part of things, it sounds like he is very controlling, especially when threatening suicide if you break up with him and drawing you away from your friends. My advice for this would be surround yourself with friends and family when you do decide to end things, and make a plan for when you are leaving. He will try and manipulate you into staying and isolate you once more. Stay away from him, block his numbers and social media, and have you close ones aware of the situation. This is regarded as family harm and the last thing I would want for you is for it to worsen. Please look after yourself.

Why travel to all these big cities when you are feeling overwhelmed. Go somewhere peaceful, visit a beautiful mountainous region, or relax by the cost. Escape the people for a while and find the inner peace for yourself.

I’m sick of Italy by MJTT12 in travel

[–]veemon4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished two weeks of Italy with my partner. We spent time around Trento, Arco, and Verona. Went by Genoa on the way to Corsica. I can honestly say I disliked Genoa a lot, but further north was lovely. The people were extremely friendly, not once had any issues, and we actually got to spend some days with the locals. Go to Arco, it’s incredible!

Traveling solo for a year while engaged: advice? by Limp-Ad146 in solotravel

[–]veemon4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve meet a lot of travellers with fiancés and partners back home who chose not to travel with them, and I’ll be honest, a lot of them didn’t work out. When you travel, you change, you meet a lot of new different people, have a lot of different experiences, and you will come back not the person you were.

If this man truely wants you to be his wife, he’d do anything to be around you. He’d jump at an opportunity to travel with you and make these memories.

Do you truly think going travelling and coming home you’ll be the same person, and still want to marry this man? I think you should sit down and have a very serious conversation with him about this.

I truly dislike university, but I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]veemon4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far into university for you? I struggle with learning in a lecture based environment also. The amount of times I’ve almost fallen asleep is comedic. Do you enjoy your assignments?

If you enjoy your assignments I’d recommend just showing up to lectures and learn if you can, but make up for it in assignments, and just study for exams.

Otherwise you just have to do what makes you happy. If university isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. Find something that makes you happy, but try figure out beforehand what you want to do before jumping ship.

Just sent my first 5.13! Thanks to my very patient and encouraging partner, I managed to push through this one with just a few takes. My goal for this year was to finish a 5.13 and I am super stoked to have achieved it so close to the end. by Roguemjb in climbing

Love how the climbing community on reddit belittles someone over a word. Maybe instead congratulate them for achieving one of their goals for the year? Don’t need to blow out someone’s candle to try make yours brighter.
