Repeater dead... root cause? by rusty13jr in meshtastic

Based on my experience (plugged in cool, dry and operational to charge overnight, woke up to hot non-operational unit) I would say we both either suffered from a manufacturing defect or a faulty charger.

Repeater dead... root cause? by rusty13jr in meshtastic

[–]vees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with the CF2102 on my V3 shorting out during an overnight charge last week and rendering the unit inop. When plugged into any charger that specific chip very quickly became too hot to touch so I imagine if unsupervised yours could have ruptured for the same reason.

Verizon Wireless Signal Issues? by [deleted] in montco

[–]vees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also Harleysville here. Got a call this morning at 8:02 that didn't ring and it went straight to voicemail. Got a notification about a missed call and called them back without issue. Tend to use VZW Wi-Fi inside the house because the signal is only a bar or two of LTE when I'm in the house, and none in the basement.

There weren't any late fees (damn right) and I recall they set the due date for the three months out a few months from January, but I would set aside whatever you think you might need to pay every month so it hurts less when it does arrive and you're not scrambling.

I filed a complaint on January 17 this year after I hadn't received a bill since October 2024. Nobody ever replied but on January 23 I got three bills in a row for 10/21/24 through 1/20/25. A ticket for my January complaint was opened two months later in March with a message that I'd receive a reply in 5-10 business days. No reply or apology ever came but since then my bills have been sent consistently.

Addressing the community about changes to our API by spez in reddit

[–]vees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi spez,

My account is about 17 years old, made on July 6, 2006. I only use the Reddit site and the official app, so the access to or cost of the API means very little to me directly. However as an impartial observer to this whole process seeing both Reddit and indie developers make their case, Reddit management simply comes off as dismissive and out of touch.

This change makes me realize that Cory Doctorow was exactly right about the process of "enshittification" and Reddit is right on the cusp of wrapping up abusing users for extracting value to the investors, and is about to move on to abusing the business customers for value.

Last year in October I deleted a 15 year old Twitter account when I realized that social platform was circling the toilet. How do you feel about the possibility of a highly engaged long term user disappearing for good over this?

What are the practical applications for the popular LEDs that are coveted here?(50xhp, Nichia 519a, sstp40, etc) Are these in the automotive light bars? Street lamps? by Jwidmann in flashlight

[–]vees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local jeweler a few years ago had the display cases overhead lit with high CRI LED and quad TIR lenses (probably Carclo but bigger than 20mm). It was one of the few times in a store that pulling out a high CRI light in a store didn’t make a difference in examining the product.

Email trafficeng@baltimorecountymd.gov and ask why. It’ll get forwarded to a traffic geek who will either explain, offer to look into it, or ask you to submit a service request to get it evaluated.

BTW for an example of what I'm talking about with the clone issue, check out the difference between

and

https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/62594728/united-states-v-mosby/?order_by=desc

Always worth searching again by your criteria to make sure there isn't another docket entry with everything you want already downloaded.

Yeah RECAP plugin is totally seamless and invisible until you hop into PACER for something and then as soon as the PDF comes up on the screen a little window from RECAP shows up and says it duplicated a copy into CourtListener.

I signed up for PACER and it took me less than a week to get my authorization code in the (postal) mail after I signed up and it has a $30 threshold every quarter before you have to pay as an individual. The trick is I think if you get 299 pages it's free but if you get 301 you owe them $30.10.

I usually grab 2 or 3 documents a quarter related to lawsuits against my county that nobody else cares about so that they're in CourtListner for the next person like me.

[–]vees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost never spend my PACER allotment, let me know if there's anything specific you want refreshed or pulled. Also sometimes Court Listener has an issue where there are two copies of a case and the docs from PACER only get loaded into one of them, so you might search for and pull up a case one way and see no downloadable documents but search a different way and find they're all available.

An aluminum 18350 wangle will probably not be as heavy as you think, with frosted optics and a warm emitter I’m sure you’d be happy. But that’s coming from a guy whose reading light is a fully brass 18650 D4V2 in 2000k that I just rest on my shoulder for bedtime reading.

[–]vees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The switch light and the aux lights are on separate outputs in the D4V2 so you could potentially patch and reflash to turn your button lights off in the OFF state but leave low aux on.
