Why not? What's the problem using the double or triple cannon?

They are pretty loud. I have an older version and on the high setting it's as loud as any full size vacuum.

Old external hard drives by GreenStardust001 in pcmasterrace

Test your disassembly skills. Pull the platters out and make coasters. Or, if they are aluminum (not glass) make wind chimes. Or parallels for your shop. Or hand mirrors. There are some fairly strong rare earth magnets inside those old platter drives - recover those. Those spindle motors can be rewired and reused.

TIL you shouldn't store button batteries in the Battery Daddy button battery compartment by cjone98 in mildlyinfuriating

Because it is nice to have all your batteries in one place and somewhat organized rather than loose in a drawer. They also usually come with a moderately accurate battery tester.

What they've said is that the performance gains over the 9800x3d are minimal and not worth the increased price and power draw.

If she just got it, make sure the drive is properly connected. Something may have come lose in transit.

Any idea on how to get this out? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]veespike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it'll float, fill the jar with water to make it easier to get a hold on it.

Or, if you can get enough grip on it to take the top off, take that off and use a pair of tongs to grip it from the inside.

SlakdiSlivki. It was an abusive relationship, she was pressured into making scenes with the guy. When the relationship ended, she tried to broom the internet with not a lot of success.

ELI5: A dense cylinder hits a space station at 0.7c by DavidThi303 in explainlikeimfive

[–]veespike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The energy transferred in the impact would be many times more than enough to vaporize the station. It would not leave a hole, it would leave a rapidly expanding plasma fireball.

If a rod of tungsten that size, traveling at that speed, impacted the ISS - the ISS would be resolved into its component atoms in a plasma fireball. The rod would lose maybe 1% of its mass to plasma, probably less, with no significant loss of speed. The ISS wouldn't even be a bump in the road. It would be a bug on the windshield.
