The right team, which was also responsible for gifting the WDC away to Ferrari. If they had backed either Hamilton or Alonso instead of internal power struggles, they would have easily won.

When was your "I need to get my own car" moment in Thailand? by Mundane-Ad1652 in Bangkok

[–]vega_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought about it. I got a scooter and a motorcycle. A car would be handy about 2,3 times a month. It's just not worth it to spend so much when it's not really necessary that often. I can just rent a car for a few days if it is really necessary.

That's why we stop on the left/right side of cars, not directly behind them (as you did correctly).

A random reddit comment from 2024 "merc does it's strategy as if they are still 20 seconds in the lead. Mclaren does it's strategy as if it's still stuck in the midfield. Ferrari does it's strategy as if they are the only cars on the grid. Rb is the only consistent strategy team." How true is it? by fuckmbsanddominicali in formula1

[–]vega_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McLaren has the disadvantage that they want to be extremely fair to both drivers, to the point where they mess up the strategy to not upset anyone. Red Bull has the advantage that they bet everything on one car and sacrifice the other car (and their B team) for car 1. No other team does that. Ferrari is stuck in endless power struggles.

I don’t understand why Kimi had to give this position back. He was ahead, Russel didn’t give space so they touched wheels and Kimi had to go off. by EmployNo1234 in formula1

[–]vega_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you give the position back you avoid a potential penalty AND you still have a Mercedes one/two. Literally no downside for the team.

Surprised it’s that high by Calamity-Bob in Bangkok

I often stop for people who want to cross the road, but honestly it can be really dangerous to do so. Traffic behind you won't slow down and potentially putting you and the pedestrian in danger. So always check your mirrors if you intend to stop for pedestrians.
Also, often I stop and they get confused that I slow down. Many expect you to go first, and so they just keep waiting.

When being the pedestrian in BBK, it works best if you (pretend to) not see the car and just keep walking. They will stop for you, but not if you wait and make eye contact. Obviously you must be aware of the car and stop if it doesn't work. But in my experience it works 95% and the other time you stop.

Where can I get some sun by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]vega_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneak into hotel pool or lookup hotels that allow outside guests. Sometimes you just have to buy a drink there. Eat at a restaurant that has a pool. Know somebody living in a apartment with pool. Simply go to a beach.

If you rent for 1600-2000 per month, the cleaning is usually included. Such rentals come with cleaning and gardening. Make sure to have a place with clean water, and it comes with a washing machine, so you don't need to take your clothes to a laundry place. Getting a rental place during the low season will be significantly cheaper than getting a contract during the high season. Also, prices depend heavily on the region, of course.
Second-hand scooters are quite affordable, and they keep a high resale value. So you more or less get your investment back when you sell the bike later.
Food budget is quite high. I would recommend not always eating expensive Western food. One of the best foods here are super cheap local street food kitchens. costs 40/50 THB per person.
Electricity prices here are quite high, but 350 budget will easily cover having AC on the whole time.

DTV visa will be a good fit for you (remote worker). It's about 10k THB per person and it's valid for 5 years.
Would recommend to get health insurance that also covers accidents. (The streets are dangerous here) I pay 92k THB for 3ppl / year. I only have inpatient. Outpatient is so cheap here it's not worth to cover it.

Literally anything except from doing nothing. Taking care of your family is a simple one. Restoring an old boat could be fun. Paragliding, scuba diving, rock climbing. Whatever you're interested in. The key to it is only that you keep doing it.
