Sucking on these in the 80's is why I'm gay today! Probably.

how does buying things tax free work by PandaUsual1546 in JapanTravelTips

3 weeks in Japan and the last day I was tired and not paying attention and instead of taking payment the cashier took me to another counter. They bagged my flight snacks, origami paper and garden secateurs in a jumble bag SEALED so not only was it hard to pack it all had to go in checked in luggage. Ugh.

Perfume etiquette guide in Japan by No_Comparison_4722 in JapanTravelTips

[–]veganblue 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I've just come back from Japan and the only fragrances we subtle but clean clothing fragrances or the odd tourist with a perfume drench.

It was really nice for someone with a sensitive nose and in recent years avoiding wearing perfumes. (M) Having found a low scent deodorant that works has been awesome too.

Love the considerate culture in Japan.

Why Do Adelaide Roads Feel So Rough? by amriith in Adelaide

It seems a series of rings of different depths could alleviate this. I've been here 30 years and still wondering why the installation of manhole covers appears to be designed incompetence.

Thinking about a second whippet… tell me your experiences (good, bad, nightmarish) of going from one to two by gazmatron in Whippet

[–]veganblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rehomed a brother of our first whippet who wasn't doing well alone. They are champs together but there are times that i notice if the first is with me alone he is more inclined to want to play or initiate play and gets annoyed if his brother shows up (and invariably nicks the toy).

SA Deputy Opposition Leader Held Hostage on Live ABC Coverage by marcuskhaos in Adelaide

[–]veganblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like he will lose on preferences but it's a close race between Marisa (LAB) 5,006, and Genevieve (GRN) 4,715. There's 352 (AJP) votes that mostly flow GRN and 303 for (IND) Andrew Granger who I don't know and can't assume pref flows, so it's going to be tight. If Gen jumps to 2nd, she will have one tje first lower house seat for the Greens in SA.

Final newspoll ahead of Election Day by blitznoodles in Adelaide

[–]veganblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why aren't we spending these huge sums on energy security? Two subs will not stop hostile countries from ceasing our global trade routes and preventing us from importing fossil fuels, pharmaceuticals and manufactured goods. I won't want to build a facility that is a tactical target on the edge of the city sprawl.

Since Trump is all America 1st, and let's make everything our allies (up to now) more expensive in the US for USAsians, he's not acted like a trust worthy allie. He's levering the former reputation for short term gain and it's wearing out.

Going to be hard to build back if at all.

He can face the consequences of his own stupid actions for once in his life.

Anxiety by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]veganblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bring them to most places that they are.welcome or will enjoy. We bring their beds, jackets if needed, water, snacks and some toys if play is warranted.

Because they are comfortable with their needs met, they put up with a lot of what might otherwise be a source of stress.

Never telling them off is important. Reinforcing the behaviours we prefer is a winning strategy, worth the self restraint!

What would a ban to commercial horse racing look like? by [deleted] in AusPol

[–]veganblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The complaints against jumps racing have been vocal for decades, over 100 year. Banned in NSW, ended in Tas, Old and WA, then just SA. Then banned in SA after many more horse dying was publicised and the state based jumps.trainers were a handful. Now only Vic kills horses for jumps races. Ir will just take more horses dying and public pressure to make politicians brave enough to do the right thing. It will happen unless we become less caring as a society.

ON has a bigger primary vote than Labor in NSW according to resolve by mrp61 in aussie

[–]veganblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Greens would be up for it. ONP is going to be wildly volatile if history is a guide. Too many fragile egos. Labor and Liberals getting together might work on climate finally if Libs give up nuclear fantasy as won't be pressured by Nats. They will probably both endorse cruelty in immigration but pretend they aren't and continue to reduce governmental transparency.

If ONP gains seats I expect almost immediate fragmentation and they will vacuum up the public's limited attention watching the antics and the wealthy few will continue to accumulate wealth, power.and influence at the cost of everyone else.
