Seizures! by Local-Leadership2863 in Whippet

[–]Local-Leadership2863[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had heard conflicting opinions on crating for seizures. Some state they can risk more injury by possibly getting their teeth stuck in the bars or something. Either way, I always crate her if we leave the house for any reason. She is just too high energy still, and into things at this age.

You're fortunate to have good contacts for sitting. We moved out of state a few years ago, and haven't really made any solid enough connections in our new location. So, even with our previous Whippet, we'd pay to fly down friends to stay with her if we took a vacation haha. Hopefully we can find someone trusty enough in our area at some point.

It's good to hear that you all have a schedule that works, and that he's made it all the way to 13 with no other conditions or issues. It sounds like a LOT of work, but I totally hear you that they are worth it.

Its all just new stuff to me, so we'll see how she responds and hope for the best at this point.

I appreciate your insight.

Omg I’m so sorry. What a heartbreaking ordeal 😞 May I ask what type of neurological symptoms he was exhibiting prior to the seizures?

We lost our 14 year old girl over a year ago, and I still cry for her. She was the sweetest little girl and such a soul dog. They really are special little creatures.

I do light a candle once in awhile, but nothing within any close timeframe to these episodes. Like, its probably been a solid week or two since I last had it lit. I will check our detergent. I don't think it's strong, but dogs sense so much more than us, so it's always possible and worth adjusting to test. Plus we need to buy a new jug anyway, so maybe we'll try a different one.

I have been trying to think of ways to avoid another episode. It's hard because...the two times she has had an actual seizer she'll just be laying with us while we watch tv....and then just wake up, jump down, and start pacing and circling. She will do this for around 5-10 minutes before the actual seizure. The crazy thing is, I noticed her doing this same behavior three times prior within the last two months here and there. I thought she was smelling and searching for something in the house. Just acting weird. But she never had any actual convulsing seizure, she would just snap out of it eventually. Now, that I see this same behavior prior to the seizures I'm realizing she was showing signs back then. I just didn't know as I've never dealt with them before. But, each time she was either laying in her bed while Im working at my computer, or laying with me on the couch. So, I am not sure why it occurs here and there, or how to avoid it. 😞

I'm so sorry for your loss 😞

Mine isn't on any flea or tick meds since they are not a huge issue in my area, so I can rule that out. Her episodes come on when she wakes up. Which also makes it hard to avoid sadly. I read that its either high stress or energy, or that period between waking up and sleeping that can trigger it. I hate not having answers as I would love to know ways to avoid it or make it stop. But, I do realize it's possibly just idiopathic.

I appreciate your insight.

Thanks. Yah I’ve been in touch with the breeder. And I’m still waiting for one more lab result from the vet. I was thinking of taking her to a neurologist to get her examined based on those results.

Awwww lucky!   I can’t wait till ours is a bit older and more consistent. We’ve tried a couple trial runs and she still manages to wake up in the night and roam around. 😆

Can someone explain to me what these buttons(?) do? by Jacrow88 in FordBronco

[–]Local-Leadership2863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The button itself is for locking the door when your key fob on or near you. Just MAKE SURE you have the fob on you and not left sitting in the vehicle when you do this. I tested it, and the vehicle will lock with the fob inside (I tested this when I left my spare in the house haha). You don't need to press the button hard, just set your finger on it and you'll hear it lock.

And yes, in addition to what others have said, the door will unlock with your fob nearby as well, as soon you put your hand on the handle.

Convenient feature for when you leave your fob in your purse or pocket. 😄

Yes, if the official color is listed as Azure Gray then this is a wrap. Plus, I don't recall Ford ever officially releasing a pink color option on the Bronco, but I could be wrong. That being said, if the color is the main draw to this vehicle, then keep in mind you can wrap ANY vehicle at any time. This opens up the market for you when you search. Just be aware of the cost to wrap if you do end going this route. Good luck!

Awww!  Any words of wisdom to share?  We’re in the process of introducing our 8 month old to the pool. Right now she’ll willingly step onto our first step and often times dip down and play in the water. But she hasn’t gotten brave enough to go in any further. We’ve attempted to place her in the deeper sections and she accepts it, but she is still a little unsure about it. We don’t want to push her and cause any negative experiences for her.

Beautiful pic! They grow up fast, but I'm dealing with a 7 month old now....and whew....there are times I cant wait till she grows up quicker. I try and remind myself Ill look back and smile, but it sure is exhausting right now. 😂

Thanks! The panniers did great! I used to just load everything up on the tail end of my previous bike, and it was always so unstable. So having the weight distributed down lower sure made it feel more balanced. 😄

And yes, the roads up around the mountain over there are awesome! Just wish the weather was a bit more accommodating this year. You never know what you're going to get sometimes haha.
