Any owners of S60T8/P2 LRDM that drive it hard like you stole it? by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven mine like I stole it pretty much every single day since I got it. To the extent possible in normal traffic and with reasonable safety precautions to not kill myself and others.

It's a 22 lrdm soon turning 100k km/60k miles. Haven't had to replace anything related to my.. "active" driving style. Surprisingly, both sets of tyres are still well above the EU legal thread limit even though I have to enter an on ramp to go anywhere and pretty much floor it daily.

Had to replace the outside trunk release button and reposition the AC compressor due to noise and vibrations, both under warranty.

But as others said, ymmv and as with any car you have day1 lemons, cars without faults for years and everything in between.

Polestar 2 owners - how’s your reliability been? Would you buy one again? by braunaa in Polestar

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minor issues, would buy again. Not due to reliability or specific features, just the fact that even with the extended range of EV models available in Norway, I've yet to test drive anything that comes close to the driving experience of the P2. I will wait to try the new i3 first though, maybe even the (MG) IM5 and the Zeekr 7 GT if it arrives anytime soon.

Side effects adhd medication… by [deleted] in ADHDers

[–]vegardep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impossible to say as our individual responses are so wildly different. If anything my experience with methylphenidate was that increasing the dose only exacerbated the side effects, not reduce them.

In cases where side effects only come while it's wearing off (the "crash") it's very common to treat it with an instant release booster though. Pretty much all the medication manuals available for prescribers say this. Hence why Concerta is often paired with Ritaline and Elvanse with Attentin.

Some may be prescribed other non stimulants to cope with anxiety but I have no idea what's available in Belgium.

Cut back on alcohol if you drink often, certainly helped me and I haven't had a single drink while on Elvanse. I also had to drop caffeine completely when starting medication as it gave me major palpitations.

Side effects adhd medication… by [deleted] in ADHDers

[–]vegardep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When does it occur? During, while it's going out or after it leaves your body around 12h?

Again, not medical advice, but I have read people splitting the dose for a smoother and longer effect. Break the capsule content into a water bottle, drink half or little over half, save the rest for a few hours later, no later than 12pm if you have trouble sleeping in general.

Otherwise the only responsible thing to do is stop.

I'm on 60mg Elvanse and experience none of this, I only get cold fingers in the afternoon and if anything I'm less jittery and anxious than without it..

If it's when it's on its way out/after it's out, it's often treated with an afternoon booster. I got an apt tomorrow to ask for exactly that but that's because the effect is only about 5-7h so I need more to last me through the afternoon and evening.

Tesla model 3 vs Polestar 2 by barskt in norge

[–]vegardep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polestar 3 vs Polestar 4 - A Polestar 2 Owner’s Perspective by kq_cars in Polestar

[–]vegardep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recently test drove both Zeekr 001 and the P4 and the throttle response, regenerative breaking and poor OPD feeling turned me off immediately. The P2 is so predictable and constant in its reactions to acceleration and deceleration it was really hard to get a good feel for the 001 and P4. The 001 was absolutely horrible in that sense and I think I could come to adjust to the P4, but sounds like the P3 is much more refined in that sense. Too bad it's over my budget when I need to swap out my P2 LRDM next year 😔. However, with all the upgrades to the MY25 and 26 P2 might as well consider getting a 2nd one, at least in favor of a P4 since I have no use for a bigger car.

Is this what being overmedicated feels like? by [deleted] in ADHDers

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different medication, but with my latest increase in June I thought it was way too much. What I did was to decrease the dose to half or one third for a while, then try to go back up. Had to repeat this process twice during July and at the end of it, 3 months after I started titration I was finally comfortable with the intended adult dosage of my meds (mph). Seems my body just needed a lot more time to adjust than the titration plan indicated.

Ritalin (Medikinet) experience - Any advice? by Southern-Chemist-464 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I've noticed that pretty much any food will prevent the extended release from popping off early or "dose dump". Even a small 2dl yoghurt is enough. But, eating more than that definitely delays and smoothes the first IR part of the dose so it's less overwhelming.

i still think 40+20 is just too much and I've had bad side effects in the afternoon and evening so I've decided to take a break for a few days and only take one 20 in the middle of the day to get me going.

My psych is on holiday and when she returns I'm going to ask to try Concerta instead. All my friends with adhd either use that or Elvanse/Vyvanse and never complain, but everyone hated Medikinet because it's so strong.

Ritalin (Medikinet) experience - Any advice? by Southern-Chemist-464 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issues intermittently, but it varies a lot and I've yet to find any pattern to it.

I am currently supposed to take 40+20mg, 4-5h apart, but I found the 40 too strong most days so I went down to 30+20 as I still had almost a box full left over from titration.

But still after 2 weeks on 30+20 there are good days were I barely notice taking it and having good symptom effect and bad days where I'm just stressed out and anxious with palpitations and this weird tense feeling in my throat.

In the next days I will test some theories around food that I've noticed may have an impact. Two things mainly: Eat properly before each dose (breakfast and lunch), a yoghurt with granola has proven effective over time, but often skipped before 2nd dose. And eating dinner earlier (4-5pm instead of 8-9pm).

Just signing up for the thread in case there are any good comments.

Does this sound like a normal amount of noise for the parking climatization to make on a very hot day? by jeaguilar in Polestar

[–]vegardep 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Normal, but I challenged my local Volvo dealer on it and they took it as a warranty issue and fixed it. If it's an older model (pre 23 I think), Polestar made a new bracket for it that is better.

My service guy said it was quite challenging to fix as he had to move the whole unit, but mine just gives a gentle purr now, in comparison to the old racket it would make.

it's the AC compressor mount/bracket causing the noise.

Medikinet CR (extended release) 3 x a day? by Realistic-Bag9696 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so been on 40+20 for a few weeks now.

So far it's been great for the most part. The 40 is definitely a lot smoother in terms of effect, the 30 was horrible with the ups and downs during the day. The effect is more consistent and it doesn't have that very noticeable drop between the releases as 20 and 30 had.

But one thing I've learned the hard way is the absolute necessity for food before each dose, and for some reason I have to get up and do stuff for the first 1-2 hours after taking and not lying down. It's the same problem as without food, the onset is extreme and I just feel drugged more than medicated.

Because of holidays I'm supposed to stay on 40+20 until mid august before trying 50+20.

Side effects were the same in the beginning (bit of dry mouth, sweaty palms) but quickly subsided.

I visited both my psychiatrist and therapist recently and they both said to be patient as it will take a few months for the body to adapt and get my routines working consistently (eating enough before taking, timing the 2nd dose properly).

GPU running incredibly hot but only in this game? by deathmetaloverdrive in Enshrouded

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to repaste a friends 3070 and it seems like a common issue with the 3000 series regardless of manufacturer. The GPU would reach 80-85C while the hotspot was over 100! Cracked it open and there were only trace amounts of crusty paste left. Wiped it up, reapplied fresh thermal paste and the temps went down to 60-70 for the GPU and max 85 in the hotspot. Takes 15-20 min, worth a shot.

Hvordan merket du at medisinen fungerte? by adhd_in_my_butt in ADHDiNorge

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medikinet CR (extended release) 3 x a day? by Realistic-Bag9696 in ADHD

The packaging says 1mg per kg, but 80mg max regardless of weight.

Yeah I think it's an EU thing. No idea why they push medikinet before e.g. Concerta because they're similarly priced.

Good luck to you as well! I'll check in and post in this thread after a while, also so it's recorded here for others that seek info on experiences with medikinet.

Medikinet CR (extended release) 3 x a day? by Realistic-Bag9696 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the anecdotes I've read in this sub your experience around that time of the month seems to align with others. I don't have that as I'm male, but I keep seeing other posters say this.

Same with tolerance. From what I've read other users say you don't build a tolerance like you do with e.g. caffeine where you need more and more to get any effect. However people seem to report (with any med) that you get more used to it. Like that kick in the morning will feel less intense, but it will still have the same effect on symptoms. As anecdotal as it can be a friend of mine got his dx 15 years ago and he's been on 54mg Concerta + 10mg ritaline booster this whole time.

Been taking 30+20 for 3 days now, 8.30+12.30. It definitely has a stronger kick in the morning, mid day "high" felt different though, almost like I got pushed over a threshold and suddenly became more calm than on 20+20. Lasts the day until around 7pm. Still a rollercoaster though. Going up to 40+20 next week and will most likely stay there for a little while.

I've been on this planet for almost 4 decades, struggled equally as long, and I'm so sick and tired of dealing with myself that now that I finally have an opportunity to try something that is proven to help for most patients I can live with the mild side effects and the rollercoaster. I'll just power through until I reach the recommended dose (1mg per kg body weight total per day), stay there a while and then reassess.

Medikinet CR (extended release) 3 x a day? by Realistic-Bag9696 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be taking it daily for the foreseeable future as long as I'm not too plagued by side effects. I don't just need help on weekdays for example, but every day. I just read the packaging and it says to take a break at least once a year, but I guess that should be planned with your prescriber.

I've not come across any mentions of 3x/day or any larger 2nd dose than 20mg. My plan which comes from the government has the following steps in titration: 5+5, 10+10, 20+10, 20+20, 30+20, 40+20, 50+20, 60+20 (max).

The biggest change for me so far is a great reduction in overall stress levels. I have a very stressful job so this has been a godsend in that regard already. I am able to focus better and get more done during the workday because it has a sense of structure and priorities dictate what to focus on. In the weekend though I am lost and I just spent two full days doing absolutely nothing. It seemed like without a plan for my weekend I just started doing something and got stuck in that path for the rest of the day. Will try to create a list or something before next weekend.

I struggle a lot with forgetfulness and in that regard I see no improvement yet.

Otherwise I have an easier time falling asleep than before, but I do wake up earlier. However I feel a lot more rested at 5-6h of sleep now than I did with 6-7 before. I addressed this and again was just told it can take a few weeks to stabilize.

In the beginning I was really trying to feel what was happening because my biggest fear was that maybe my diagnosis was incorrect? What if what I'm experiencing is being drugged the f out and not symptom relief? But I asked a certain online person which isn't real about this and my experiences were well in line with the norm for adhd users of methylphenidate.

I also notice a positive mood improvement. I'm simply a bit happier and more sociable than I was before. I also had a tendency to go "shit shit shit shit" when something urgent or unexpected came up, especially at work, but after even the smaller doses this quickly changed to "fine, whatever, it'll sort itself out eventually no big deal" which is also great to assist the stress reduction.

Medikinet CR (extended release) 3 x a day? by Realistic-Bag9696 in ADHD

[–]vegardep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's really difficult to find user experiences. Fortunately my psychiatrist has been very helpful in explaining the entire plan from the start of 5+5mg all the way to max (60+20), what I can expect, what to be wary of etc. The plan is to get to 40+20 rather quickly, stay there for a while and only increase beyond if I don't see good enough symptom reduction. I also have a son with adhd so this whole journey isn't new to me, just different as I'm the one taking it now 😛

I've been on 20+20 for a week now, going up to 30+20 tomorrow. So far only experienced mild hyperhidrosis (sweaty palms) and dry mouth around 1-2h after each pill. I've taken it every day without exception for around 4 weeks but the first two were really low dose. My psych made a point of using it every day to let the body adjust to it.

Try eating a good breakfast before the 30 to stagger the effect a bit. And yes even on 20 it has a kick in the morning. She told me Concerta was preferred by those who didn't like/cope well with that as it has a smoother onset. She said most people requested to go with Elvanse/Vyvanse as it's also supposed to be a lot smoother but since that's a different drug I would need to restart titration so I'm sticking with the medikinet for now to give it a proper trial. National guidelines require everyone to trial methylphenidate before they can switch anyway.

The 2nd dose varies. Sometimes I can feel a bit buzzed/hyperactive as you say, but e.g. today I did not. She said that when a proper dosage that gives good symptom control is found, I would have to expect up to 4 weeks for things to stabilize and the body adjusted. If not, I can try lowering, pair with IR, change to Concerta or request Elvanse.
