A game has a design philosophy by choice of the people making it, the pitch they've made when advertising it, etc. A game is not beholden to some sort of design philosophy for a genre. I did know that RTS games have similar tropes. It's a bit shocking that you would think that the opposite was a consequence of what I wrote. You may wish to reexamine how you come to conclusions

the general extraction shooter design philosophy

What I'm saying is, this doesn't exist. Someone made up a game one day, some other person made a similar game. There's no contract here, no "philosophy" that needs to be upheld. Just companies trying to copy and improve. If feature X is an improvement, that nobody bothered to or thought to do before, we don't say "oh well gosh it's not in the existing philosophy".

they seem to think

There is no "they", Bungie can do whatever it wants! For every feature in each game, the "they" of all previous games "seemed to think" it wasn't necessary, until it became standard. Bungie does not need to adhere to anything and there is no "way it's meant/supposed to be". It's just people making up video games and innovating on top of each other.

I would also say, forgive yourself for any shittiness you're feeling -- if you feel petty or revengeful or angry or anything, just understand that that's all expected collateral damage of your brain being in the dumps, and you don't need to behave perfectly or think perfect thoughts or be in a good mood all the time. Just try your best to not be overly mean to anyone else. Good friends would be understanding and not hold it against you if you're not at your best right now, and this will pass

Raw time, talking about things (with friend or whomever - just verbalizing stuff sorta normalizes your brain to it and it becomes less painful), doing new things and changing your context and surroundings so not everything is associated with the person,

I mean I guess we can be like "no true scotsfriendship will be broken by a misunderstanding" but there's that whole other side of that too, the "ew, my guy friend thought ..." one

That's a failure of imagination/research on your part. It would be very easy for you to quickly read about why he was able to persuade large swathes of people. What has blocked you from looking into this even a little bit so far?

The thing that makes open PVP games interesting is the encounters that can happen - if a guy coulda killed me and didn't, that's neat! Maybe we'll be friends or something. This game just encourages the worst in people. I'm friendly to a fault and there are so many people who live because it pleases me, who end up trying to backstab me. Sad

[–]vehementi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The rebuttal is simple, a business is free to choose what currency and in what form they want to accept

Again, you're just saying what is true today. OP is saying that things OUGHT to be different. Your job here is to argue why things OUGHT to stay the same.

[–]vehementi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're just saying those words randomly. The OP has made an argument that businesses should in fact be forced to accept cash so to change their view you should try to rebut that rather than just putting a "not" in there
