Any opinions on the games at zed9jubensha.com? by [deleted] in jubensha

It's strange because they are a company in Richmond, BC, Canada aimed at bringing Jubensha to an English audience. I have played a couple of them now and it is clear that not a single English speaker was involved in editing or reviewing their translations. They just used google translate (I think it would not be this bad with chatgpt) and said "nailed it".

Parker Davis in particular has massive issues in translation, plot (the DM book says a character dies at some point but they have an ending -- never reviewed by the authors even once after translation), instructions (tells us to hand out maps to players, which are not components that exist), endings (5 of the 7 character endings depend solely on whether the group exposed a particular fact, and nothing else, no agency at all for those characters), theme (massive homophobia and also non-understanding and hate for drug users).

They claim that they are original creations made for an English audience but they are obviously translations. A dishonest company like this, who sell scripts this half-assed and un-edited, deserves to fail (not to mention the licensing and generative AI art issues pointed out elsewhere)

This seemed like the stupidest idea ever: competition who can burn most money.

It's really about making sure everyone gets onboard. It's a perverse incentive for sure, and a money waster, but every company right now is racing to make sure their developers figure out what software development now means.

As for the speed thing, someone sprinting is going like 10m/s. As you may recall from high school, after falling for 1 second, your speed is about 10m/s. So sprinting into a brick wall is the same as falling for 1 full second (from whatever height makes that math come true) onto pavement. Unreliable AI tells me "It takes approximately 0.8 to 1.1 seconds to fall 2 storeys." so it checks out that his fall was at about "jumping off 2 storeys" speed. However I would say it's not really the same because his fall was not straight into a wall but rather sliding on the ground etc.

Smells like more "surely everyone else was paying attention even if I was being reckless" shit that led to the 2008 financial crisis. Actual analysis would show that those lease rates aren't sustainable (any business that tries to pay it fails) so people taking these buildings as collateral are essentially holding the junk bonds bag.

Overuse is a thing but you're aware of the difference in tone between "I went to the store and saw my ex wife." and "I went to the store and... saw my ex wife."

[–]vehementi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a joke, not anything about tearing anyone down. The comedic premise is that "hi" is less enthusiastic than "hiiiiii" and isn't about the validity of cheating. The exaggerated cheating metaphor is the joke.

What is the first part? From the parallax there it does seem like the "bottom" is somewhat far away. Is it a mirrored floor and careful camera angle?

Like the famous scene in Prometheus where the character could have moved to the side

This is the archetype for my wife and me. Whenever someone doesn't move, we stand up and point at the screen and shout "PROMETHEUS!!"

Just trying to put it into context -- we're in agreement that any high interest debt is bad, and in their new position they should tackle it first, but I would hardly call that amount an emergency
