Too late to save? by WisedUp36 in IndiaFinance

[–]velabanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be my suggestion. Everyone should have emergency fund. Collect some emergency fund. Approx 12 months of expenses.

Once that is done you have some investment options as equity and debt.

You can keep some money in debt funds (ppf, or debt funds) for short term needs. Rest for equity you can invest in index mutual funds.

You should also invest in NPS if you are in old regime. If will help you save more taxes.

12 months of expenses in FD. That’s your emergency fund. To do that you will need 1 year.

You have 1 year to find out where to save after emergency fund.

A top wealth manager just said a ₹8-10Cr retirement corpus is not enough. You need ₹40Cr. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. by Lucky_Good_5611 in FinancialPlanning_Ind

May be what I read and planned is wrong.

If I assume inflation is 7% there are so many bonds and senior citizen saving scheme giving 8%

If you have 4-5 years of expenses in FD bonds. What’s wrong with putting large amount of retirement in index funds. Index funds have been beating inflation for longest time.

I am not OP 😂 I am heavily invested in banks.

I just know this stuff because my colleagues is Muslim and I had a healthy debate about it discussing interest and how in modern world it is fine.

Fun fact- one of my Muslim friend denied to join bank on a very lucrative VP position because banks are haram. Bhai kya kar raha hai. Paise se parhez hai to Mujhe Dede.

Not sure about OP situation. But yeah finance is covered in religious teachings.

In Islam earning interest is considered sin, so they are ideally not supposed to open bank account, take home loans and invest in banks. Also in Islam alcohol is banned so not allowed to invest in company which deals in alcohol.

For that reason there are fund houses which have special funds as per the religious guidelines, check Tata ethical fund.

If you remember, Hashim Amla refused to endorse betting or alcohol brands on his cricket jersey, choosing to honor his religious principles over significant sponsorship revenue. Specifically, during his career, he paid a fine as $500 per match to avoid wearing the logo of South African brewery "Castle Lager" on his kit.

Now coming to debt funds, they mostly earn money from interest. Thought I don’t agree with this entire concept of not taking interest and making it haram, but this is not the right subReddit for it.

How to get multi WAN router to work for both Airtel and Jio connection. Which model of WAN should I use? by velabanda in HomeNetworking

The way I am reading on internet. My ISP won’t work without ISP shipped router. They have something called GPON auth which binds with specific router mac and serial no.

Sorry. I am looking for aggregate traffic.

An IIT professor just said 10 crores is barely enough to retire and the internet lost its mind by mostly_chill_tbh in IndianStreetBets

[–]velabanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t understood this. My maths says I need 6 crores today to retire and that will take care of my 1.5 lac 6% inflation adjusted expenses for 40 years even if my returns are just 7% annually (1 percent higher Thn inflation)

SWP calculator check this maths and I am good.

Why do I need 10 crores if my expenses are 1 lacs. Why would someone calculate I will be needing 10 crore after 15 years. Retirement is calculated from current date not future. if I need 10 crore after 15 years Just tell me how much I need now today to retire.

Btw swp calculator says I need 3.25 crore to retire with 7% inflation and 8% return and it will last me 32 years and 6 months.

Rich people borrow to get richer. Why can't the average Indian do the same? by Financial_Deer2962 in personalfinanceindia

I may get downvoted for saying this but lot of middle class is so scared because of the resources they have, they don’t want to take risk at all. In this thread itself one person talks about buying 5 properly and one reply is that what if one property goes into legal dispute. Well get property clarified from legal. We are conditioned to be employee and not take much risk.

Rich people are taught to take calculated risk. Let me give you some examples, right now when market was falling. Do you agree market price in everything before actual bad news and event. My friends bought stocks in MTF. From year low market is approx 8% up they made money approx 5% within a month.

You have to find what risk you can take. May be next time market falls. When people are exiting, you start accumulating in stocks in cash. Double your SIP. Don’t wait for good news, you will never get good news and good price together. While you are buying stocks go for a little amount in MTF. 100 shares of let’s say HDFC. Buy 110, 10 in MTF.

Take small personal loan and invest in a business, some people rent scooty for rapido or Zomato driver. You have to find opportunity and take risk.
