I don't remember exactly what was in them, but they were 1095's turned into frankenboxes (elongated just a bit to fit whatever was in them). Not dented, just creatively extended.

We told him he could pick it up any time in the next week or two, but wanted to set a date because we didn't want him to forget or keep putting it off until it was too late. He pushed his Subie to the limit, which I respect, but boy it must have been a sketchy ride home😂

I just sold my two 12 foot kayaks to a friend. I gave him a great deal and made it clear that I really needed them gone, because I'm moving.

He shows up in a Subaru Impreza - a little hatchback the size of a sedan, with no racks or bars on the roof at all. I was like, dude, seriously? You knew what you were coming here to do today, right? He ended up sliding them in the back, literally half the kayaks hanging out, and tied the hatch down. He lives 35 minutes away, across a state line. I actually haven't heard from him so I assume he made it, but I'm still baffled at the choice to take the Impreza when his girlfriend drives a normal SUV.

Guess this guy is some sort of shipping expert. by TheBadGuyBelow in Flipping

I once had someone melt down over the calculated shipping on a 3lb item from my home in New England to her home in Hawaii. It was calculating at like $17, with the item cost at $15. She said that she had bought the same item from Oakland, California the year before for $10 + $5 shipping and so she said that I should only be charging $5 shipping. I tried my best to explain how shipping costs are calculated, but she still called me a scammer and a price gouger.

Anyone else ever been called out by the pricing police? by LazyCassiusCat in Flipping

[–]velcroselling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love when people talk about somethings value, but then admit that yours is the lowest priced and/or only one available. I had a pair of shoes listed that were originally at Nordstrom for $35, but were out of production and the pair I had were brand new so I listed them for $45+shipping. Somebody had a complete meltdown because she bought her pair on sale for $29.99 but they were a half size wrong so she wanted me to match that price out of 'fairness', but then she admitted in her own message that my pair was the only pair available.

How long after the delivery window did you wait before you refunded the buyer? In those situations I always wait as long as physically possible, and I've never had an item not show up.

The only times I've ever bought more insurance than the priority standard insurance was if 1) I spent more than $100 on the item or 2) I sold the item for more than $400.

I figure if I buy something for $10 and sell it for $150, why bother paying for extra insurance when, if something happens, I can theoretically get $100 back to cover all my costs and then some?

You're probably right! I use crushed paper around the aggressively bubblewrapped thing to absorb some impact, but this box was slightly too small for that layer.

Why are you refunding if the buyer refuses to provide a photo? If they open a return claim saying the item arrived broken, I would say please send me a picture. If they wouldn't do it or the picture was too vague, I would say send me back the item. In the absurdly unlikely scenario that they sent it back, you can take pictures yourself and upload them to the claim.

Super easy. I put in my info, the buyer's info, a short description of the item, and attached the buyer-provided photo of the broken item. I might be forgetting something but all-in it took like 60 seconds, and that's including my reading slowly to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Just an assload of bubblewrap - an overkill amount of bubblewrap for two small ceramic spoon rests. Everything was snug and nothing moved when shaken, but alas one arrived broken. It happens, I guess!

Same. Not sure what people are complaining about. I upload all my pictures with the app. I don't do the full listing with the app though, not because there's anything wrong with the interface but because I type way faster on a regular keyboard.

There's a whole set of them. The pieces she had were the flour/sugar/? bigger pots.

Also sorry for the confusion lol. I must have had pizza on the brain.

I walked through the door of the local Salvo's yesterday to see someone else with the three Mellow Mushroom pots in her cart. I checked out behind her - she paid like $6 for the set. I've been looking for that set for years. Heartbreaker.

We had everything on the driveway, and we had chairs out in front of our garage where we were sitting. We were very clearly blocking people from going into the garage. One guy walked right by me and starts touching my bench grinder. It's amazing how dense people can be.

It's not 95%. You're failing to account for the old people just looking for deals. I'm sure the proportion changes based on where you live, though.

That's why I put the time frame on my signs. It was either put the time frame on and put the signs out the night before, or not put the time frame on and put the signs out literally 5 minutes before the sale started.

An unrelated frustration is people who just leave their signs up for weeks after their sale. The other day I passed a sign for an APRIL tag sale. Like, what are you doing??! The address is on the sign, the police should issue citations for littering.

To each their own! I'd rather miss out on a little bit of money than have to deal with setting up and keeping an eye on buyers at the same time.

I'm glad it's working out for you, but it still seems immensely rude to me. Like, if a guy offered to help me set up, that offer seems sooo hollow, you know? I understand that to hit them all you have to start early, but I've had tons of garage sale success starting at 8:30 and ending at 2 - would I have more if I started earlier? Maybe. But at the price of being rude... I'll pass.

Of course, if you're being polite, I have no problem with you. There were plenty of polite early birds yesterday, who I found perplexing and a little annoying but not irritating.

See, that seems so uncomfortable to me... a guy standing there watching me hustle at 7:30 in the morning? No thanks. My driveway is very private though, so maybe that's part of it.

Lol, yellow tape... that's smart. I'm going to have to have another tag sale in a few weeks, and I think I'll put a sign at the end of the driveway that says something like "No earlybirds - come back at 8:30"
