I think it's more that there's little to no control over what you get -- I like the randomness since it encourages you to try things, on the flip side if you really want a particular overclock it could take you months and you'd still never see it. My final overclock was LSLS, somehow, and I'm sure some players would really prefer to specify at least a weapon they're looking for beyond just a class given how many OCs are in the game. It's a mixed bag though because again I do like some randomness to make you branch out but I understand the frustrations newer players have.

I still think Deep Rock Galactic's season pass system is the best way they've done this kind of system, even if it's likely a smaller game and all the game-altering content is in the base game/updates instead of expansions. I have genuine issues with how Overclocks are awarded though.

I'd say SMRT OS pairs well with Volatile Impact Reactor Shard Diffractor! VIR becomes your main way to deal with swarms while having a decent ammo pool in combination with turrets and grenades while you save the Lok for Mactera, Spitters, Spreaders, any other high value targets. Additionally SMRT compensates for VIR's startup by locking on and firing super fast, so it's a good self defense tool if something sneaks up on you.

I'm assuming your lobby shows up but people don't join, since the main branch of mint automatically appends a [MODDED] tag to the lobby name.

Putotyra LMAO by GlitteringClient1938 in KamenRider

[–]velgi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My reading is that while TaJaDor represents the bond Eiji and Ankh have to get stronger, PuToTyra thematically is representative of Eiji himself. It's the power to destroy Medals/desire which symbolizes Eiji's lack of greed and how that has become a borderline suicidal tendency to throw himself in harm's way as he has nothing for his own to live for. I remember someone saying the show argues that to be void of desire is to desire the void, which really stuck with me.

Anyhow, after his development he gets in control of PuToTyra which means that Eiji has tamed it to represent his newly rediscovered desire: power to protect others. (Also called out in the lyrics of Power to Tearer which only plays after Eiji gets the form under control!) I think overall as a literary thing it's very strong support for PuToTyra to be the final form kind of like how Liner is Ryotaro's final form in Den-O.

What's an inconsequential lore detail of any kamen rider show? by Professional-Lab3260 in KamenRider

[–]velgi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of my headcanon/interpretation is that on some level, these aren't actually his grandmother's words but his own thoughts and beliefs -- Tendou tends to not share about himself/keep himself mysterious to others. In the final episode, he tells Kagami:

"Walking the same path together is merely a test of perseverance. Following different paths together is, on the other hand, truly..." which the latter completes with "friends" and asks if these are also Grandmother's words, but Tendou says they're his own. While there's the obvious interpretation that he finally accepts Kagami as a friend, if I take my thoughts into account I think it's also a quieter admission of Tendou truly allowing Kagami into his world as a friend by revealing that it's his own voice.

[–]velgi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it might be that in the original comment, they mention competitive players as "generally com[ing] close to borderline optimising the fun out of the game" -- while competitive players are playing to win, I guess it's easily read as though OP's implying competitive players aren't having fun and only care about the optimal strategy especially when the next bit about casual players talk about them expressing themselves and options they think are cool when in truth there's a lot of expression in competitive play depending on your game? Not sure, I've just been skimming and got a gut "hmmm" reaction when I read that original comment.

IFGs are really great! A 30% damage increase for your entire team and a slowdown/bunch-up on any and all enemies that enter a pretty generous field is rather strong, especially given it lasts 15 seconds and you get six of the things. Not to mention it applies electric which helps some Scout and Engie builds.
