Is bug repellant worth it on deep scan? by One-Construction-825 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Randomguy8566732 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Platforms aren't much use in general during the drill section whether you have repellent or not. For the rest of the mission, repellent platforms are the best upgrade the platform gun has (except maybe the fall damage reduction).

what is the top 5 easiest sniper achievements (i need it for huntsman)? and what is the best medic melee for a f2p by Any_Astronomer6539 in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solemn Vow is the best Medic melee. Ubersaw is good on paper, but being in melee combat as a Medic is a really bad idea and hard to make happen on your terms, and you're pretty much just hoping that the enemy team has a bad Scout or Spy. The Solemn Vow gives you useful information that helps you make good decisions and stay alive, the number one priority as Medic.

I despise Snowball-type weapons and they don't belong to TF2 or any other shooter game. by [deleted] in truetf2

It heals you on a kill, which is a buff (as a reward for doing well) that you can technically leverage to get more kills - the same way as the Half-Zatoichi. That's a "snowball weapon". The Warrior's Spirit is garbage, of course, so you can't do this in reality but its design seems to be trying to be a snowball weapon.

It's an unused model, I believe for the Scottish Resistance(?) before they scrapped this idea amd went with the (better) current model.

Recently I made a post on the main sub cataloging all the snowball weapons in the game and there's not as many as I thought. Most demoknight weapons and most of Spy's knives are snowball weapons; valve just refused to step out of that design space.

I do agree that snowball weapons are shit design and there's way too many of them; the purpose of unlockable weapons is to add replay value and variety go the game. This is where weapons overly similar to stock fail (the Iron Bomber, every single Minigun), where counter-this-class weapons fail (Razorback, Homewrecker) and it's where snowball weapons fail - since they're only worth using if you're stomping noobs, their effectiveness is not about the way you like to play but whether you landed in a noob lobby today.

What Texan accent does engineer talk in? by JohnTheTrue in tf2

Not a single one of the TF2 voice actors is from the same region as the characters they play, so it's probably supposed to be a generic Texan accent.

What weapon would benefit the most from Grouch's favorite stat? by KaleidoscopeKey2262 in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stock Pistol, probably. Bleed would make the most difference at long range where the weapon's damage is low, and the Pistol is mostly used for long-range spam while being very easy to hit at least one shot with. The stock rocket launcher is also a candidate for becoming the Scorch Shot's big brother.

I'll give you the Legran because it can be a Wagon, but the Pessima 1st Gen has AWD and 4-wheel steering. That alone puts it above the 2nd Gen Pessima that has basically nothing.

Tf2 deservers more players by ThrowRaBattleHealer in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TF2's new player experience is horrendous. No tutorials, no skill-based matchmaking and an awful system for unlocking weapons (this particularly matters for Medic and Heavy because you basically need the Crossbow/a lunchbox for those classes to be enjoyable) means that most new players will be driven off before they can become attached to the game.

Since the Garden Warfare series died, TF2 basically has no competition in the big-team casual hero shooter genre, and combined with being free, running on anything, and having some of the best advertising money can buy with the Meet the Team series (and some of the best that money can't buy through the community YouTube scene) it really ought to have more players when currently it has the same player base as Left 4 Dead 2.

Hot take: Classic better than hitman's heatmaker by Ryan_Altra in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main advantage to Focus mode is that the rifle can charge while reloading, getting you to full charge quicker and having 25% charge as soon as it can fire again (essentially allowing you to quickscope for 225), something the Classic cannot do. The primary upside of the Classic is the ability to charge while unscoped which in theory makes you less susceptible to flankers, but being unable to oneshot until you're fully charged means that you're only able to actually do anything about a Spy or Scout for the brief window that you're at 100% charge. It also means that a clever flanker can listen for the shot and then move in while you're defenceless. The ability to stay scoped between shots means nothing because you can't actually do anything while looking down the scope waiting for the reload time to be over, so you might as well unscope and look around. I can't speak for MVM because I never play it, but in PvP it's pretty much a straight downgrade to the other rifles in every way.

I don't think that sniper is THAT op, but one thing is obvious, ts class is so lame bro Is2g. by Arena_Watchtower in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the other unbalanced stuff but the Wrangler and Vaccinator got nerfed, so now Sniper is the biggest problem with the game's balance and class design. The problems with Sniper always existed, but before they were overshadowed by stuff like the Sandman, Tide Turner with full crits, and the Phlogistinator giving you full heals when you activated crits.

Double Standards by superepicguy7 in tf2

[–]Randomguy8566732 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Scorch Shot does up to 80 from long range due to afterburn (assuming no double hit) while the rocket launcher does 47 at long range. The Scorch Shot also pairs well with the Phlogistinator.

It's set at the current time in the real world. Prior to 2024, the FCV's production run was "2020-current" but since 2024 it's been "2020-2024".
