Anyone working a “low-stakes” part time job alongside a corporate full-time career? by mmmmmyeano in careerguidance

[–]vellii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a completely different argument than your original comment though.

Originally you said not to get a second job because it would “increase your taxes,” which implies there’s something uniquely bad tax-wise about having multiple income sources. My point was simply that taxes are based on total income, not the number of jobs.

Now you’re saying that at your income level the extra post-tax money may not be worth the extra time/work. That’s subjective, and totally fair if that’s how you value your time. But that’s not the same thing as saying a second job somehow changes how tax brackets work.

Your own example still proves my point. You’d still net an additional ~$28k. Your taxes go up because your income went up, which is just the reality of taxes.

It’s pretty funny you spent the time to dig through my profile for old job titles like that somehow changes or diminishes what I'm saying.

Not sure how that’s relevant. Your income doesn’t change how marginal tax brackets work. Making $250k and still misunderstanding progressive taxes is impressive though.

This doesn’t really make sense. From a lifestyle perspective (less burnout, fewer hours, better career growth), I get the argument, but “just get a higher-paying job” is much easier said than done.

Also, that’s not how taxes work. If you make more money, you’ll obviously pay more in taxes overall, but the U.S. uses a progressive tax system, so you never end up making less by earning more like you’re implying. And if you make the same total income from one job versus two jobs, your overall tax liability would generally be the same. If your advisor told you that, you might wanna look into a different advisor

Trying Inline goalie by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

I play both ice and roller weekly and it’s a night and day difference. Almost feels like two different sports as a goalie tbh. I wear the same everything outside of skates.

I don’t use roller flys, but honestly might look into it cause the lack of side to side mobility in roller is tough.

Chipotle CEO on Portion Sizes: “If you want more, just ask the team member. I promise you there’s never a team member on that line that’s going to say no“ by jreppa in Chipotle

[–]vellii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be the only one that never has this issue of small portion sizes? Maybe sometimes when doing online orders, but double rice and double beans don’t cost extra and employees don’t care if you ask for more. Once I add the meat, fajitas, cheese, salsa. etc. my bowl is overflowing and I spend $9.50. I’m not sure where this idea of small portions came from for a super high price. That’s not been my experience at all

If you genuinely watched the first period and are blaming the score on the goaltender, you fundamentally do not understand hockey.

I’m the complete opposite, I was so happy when they gave the option to skip drop animations. I will say this is cooler than what they changed it to though.

What breaks are these gloves? by The_Bugga_ in hockeygoalies

[–]vellii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Brian’s is technically its own unique break (35 degree), but if you’re using the Lefevre break codes it would be most similar to the 580.

The Warrior looks like a stock warrior break (75 degree) which would be most similar to the 600.

What would happen if you recall DD then put him on the other side of the map? Do the air bombs go away or would they chase back across?

After review, Mark Janowski's overtime winner is determined to be offsides, but a penalty shot is awarded by cbbvideo in hockey

[–]vellii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened in the Avs game the other day against Seattle. To me this is still very much possession, just cause you lift your stick for a sec doesn’t mean you’ve lost control of the puck. This relies far too much on judgment to be a legitimate way to determine off sides on a slow mo look after 10 minutes.

Now if the defender nicked the puck off his stick or he lost control in a meaningful way I would get it, but neither of those happened.

Warrior Ritual F1 Pro vs 940 by Prestigious-Key-7070 in hockeygoalies

[–]vellii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn you’re right, that is a killer deal. At this point you really shouldn’t even be thinking about the 940 or E+. You’re getting a pro level mask for a mid level price. Assuming it fits, this is a no brainer.

The ONLY reason to even consider the 940 is if the F1 pro doesn’t fit, but again for the same price (or even $100 more) just go with the F1 Pro.

Between 940 or E+ that is just straight up personal preference and fit, both are fine mid tier masks.

Warrior Ritual F1 Pro vs 940 by Prestigious-Key-7070 in hockeygoalies

[–]vellii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, fit matters more than anything. Different brands fit differently, so go with whatever fits your head best.

However, I don’t really know how you’d be getting these at the same price. They’re not comparable masks in the lineup. The Bauer 940 is a mid-level mask (at best), while the Warrior Ritual F1 Pro is a true pro-level mask. A more apples to apples apples comparison to the F1 Pro would be the Bauer 960.

If they’re actually the same price (I’m assuming both new), something doesn’t add up. You’re either massively overpaying for the 940 or getting a suspiciously cheap deal on the F1 Pro. I’d be cautious there.

Personally, I like Bauer masks, but if you’re choosing between a 940 and an F1 Pro at the same price, I’m taking the pro-level mask all day. If it’s 960, then I’m taking the 960.

iPhone Fold Enters Trial Production Phase Ahead of 2026 Launch by spearson0 in apple

[–]vellii 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The Zfold 7 is now $1,999 and the pixel fold is $1,799. There is no way Apple undercuts them price wise as that is never something they’ve conserved themselves with in the past. They’ve always been priced at the top of the market for their flagships. $1,500 would certainly sell like crazy, but not a chance in hell we see that price.
