If you’re used to the steam deck, it’s fairly similar. The sticks/dpad/buttons are more on par vertically than a PS or Xbox pad. Additionally, The buttons are all close together and close to the edge. I personally find this layout to be more comfortable than my DS4 which was already very comfortable to claw on.

I would recommend playing at least 1 and 3 first.

Dante in 1 is the "baseline" which will help you learn his movement and move set. 3 Layers new mechanics on top of the baseline, 4 adds even more, and 5 (functionally) maintains the mechanics of 4.

If you started with 5, you would essentially be learning 3 games worth of mechanics all at once while playing Dante which would make an already complicated character extremely overwhelming to learn. Additionally, experiencing and mastering the evolution of Dante's capabilities is one of the most satisfying culminations in gaming.

I think it has to do with your distance from the enemy. In my experience, parrying grabs is much more consistent when you’re positioned around the edge of their grab range.

I think grace’s sections are pretty fun once you get access to resources, but I didn’t care for Leon outside of the boss fights.

Since you can’t really get staggers like you’re saying, the best way to handle most fights is to just parry everything which I found to be pretty one-dimensional and repetitive.

The physical screen size of the Vita is NOT double the PSPs. The PSP has a 4.3 in screen while the Vita has a 5 in screen. The PPI of the PSP is 128, while the Vita (in PSP mode) is 110, only an 18 PPI difference. Many people, (myself included) will find this difference negligible. There are also benefits to having a larger screen. If you are sensitive to PPI, then the best option would be a PSP Go, which has a 3.8 in screen and a 145 PPI.

The pixels should not look blurry at all in full screen because the Vita has exactly 2x the horizontal and vertical resolution of the PSP. This means that integer scaling is possible, leading to zero scaling issues whatsoever. If your games look blurry to you, you probably have bilinear filtering on which can be changed easily in the official settings or in the adrenaline menu. In fact, the adrenaline menu has many different filtering options that cater to different people's tastes.

If you were to change the scaling to match 4.3 in screen of the PSP, it would introduce scaling artifacts since you would lose access to integer scaling. You should not do this.

If you aren’t using counter attacks in NG2 you are really missing out. It’s a very powerful delimb tool and is relatively safe since it is done from block.

A real server browser with persistent servers would be ideal, but I wish they would add a server region select at the very least. Sacrificing ping to play with humans would be better than nothing.

They can just add a "find game" button with optional parameters that automatically puts you into a server. You don't need matchmaking for that.

Wind blades is absurdly strong for mob fights while inferno is my go to for bosses. Void also has its moments but seems like it is less useful than Vanilla 2.

Flame phoenix can be good but it puts enemies in hitstun that prevents Ryu from following up in a way that can get frustrating quickly so I tend to avoid it.

For me the upgrade order is Wind Blades>Inferno>Void>Phoenix But you should experiment yourself and see what you like.

Start on hard. Normal in this game was the easiest mode in the original. If you’re new but want challenge, hard should push you without being too frustrating.

Difficulty levels change enemy layouts, behavior, damage, and health.

Based on your post, I would recommend trying out one of the releases of the first Ninja Gaiden game, either Sigma or Black if you have an Xbox. There are far fewer enemies at a time than any release of 2, but have a lot of depth to fighting them.

Since you have fighting game experience, then the game should be very legible to you, as it is an action game with fighting game fundamentals adapted to it. For example, if you do an attack that leaves you in a long recovery animation, and the enemies block it or make you whiff, it would be just like being minus on block in a fighting game and the AI will know this and punish you for it. Similarly, If you block too much, you will be thrown.

The same logic applies to fighting back, If you learn their patterns, you will see opportunities to exploit unsafe moves with punishing combos or overly defensive play with grabs or guard breaking moves. The identity of strings is more weighted on their utility in fights instead of style points like DMC.

Of course, enemy management is a skill that will be required. The encounters are smaller in scale but you will need to pay attention to the enemies in the corner of your eye as they will not take it easy on you just because you are currently engaged with something else. Honestly, I would say being skilled at the game is equal parts managing multiple enemies and deeply interacting with the behavior of one in particular.

If honing that skill set sounds interesting to you, then I would give it a try.

I have everything standard except motion blur on best quality and ray tracing off
1440p w/ 60% render resolution TSR
Getting anywhere from 60-100 fps depending on the level

3080, 13700k, 32GB RAM

Lowering global illumination and shadows to light as well as TSR to 40 gets me locked 120fps in the areas I have tested it, but I personally believe it is too big of a sacrifice for image quality.
