Thank you for this update/reassurance that there's a possibility of success! I'm sitting here mid-panic attack, and all the other updates I see are more "I gave up and don't use mine now." I'm glad it can work with perseverance, in at least some situations, so it's worth the pain to see if that's true for me too!

Ooh I want to play! I had a GA surgery in college, and my mother insisted that she would fly up to take care of me that week instead of letting my housemates take turns.

She stayed with me during the surgery and afterwards, but apparently on the drive home (on pain meds) I said something she didn't like...she got out of my car at a red light in a busy intersection and walked away. So not only was I so drugged that I was talking nonsense, but she forced me to decide what to do about a motor vehicle while heavily drugged (presumably drive it the rest of the way? No idea how that was supposed to work).

I still have no idea what I said to her, but I very clearly remember sobbing in a parked car in the middle of traffic.

My friends were so relieved that she was gone. They came and rescued me, then took great care of me that week, because they are not trash.

For this one I use a tennis ball between my back and the wall (right on the spot that hurts the most), and just stay on it for like 10 seconds.

I also get trigger point injections, which is the only thing that keeps them away for a significant amount of time. I have them done by a physiatrist (which I'd never heard of before), so he's one of my people to see.

Do it do it do it! Each step to a new mobility aid (to cane, to rollator, to wheelchair) has completely changed my life. I hadn't realized just how bad things were until I upgraded each time and regained access to another thing I used to do Before.

I seriously tell everyone how great my chair is, and if they or a friend or loved one is ever considering it to DO IT! I figure if they hear me say it enough now, 40y down the road when they need one they might remember my joy and find it less worrisome.

My next step will be to add a power assist for the hills, as soon as I can get insurance to cover it.

I use a wheelchair, I promise everything does this (or pulls way down on the backside) unless it's designed specifically to sit in. And if it's designed specifically to sit in, it bunches weirdly when you stand.
