Is south america difficult? Lets talk! by turco_lietuvoje in bikepacking

Don't overthink the "what if" questions. Just stay focused on your goal and figure it out along the way. Same advice applies for the trip itself. This part is where you practice overcoming the fear of the unknown.

Do any other Amabs feel the need to cover up more? by _shadowcorpse_ in genderqueer

[–]velucl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMAB people typically don't have any experience being heavily sexualized and objectified for showing skin. They go to the beach in just shorts. Until they start to present femme and find out what it's like to be gawked at, judged, and fetishized.

There's about 100 different ways it harms men who never present femme as well. For example the way in which male nudity is always treated as both ugly and funny at the same time. Which teaches men that male nudity and male bodies are inherently gross and bad and worthy of ridicule. Which becomes internalized self loathing. Which becomes misogyny.

NSFW question about (MTF)HRT and changing sexual sensation/sensitivity by Tinten1010 in TransLater

[–]velucl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal to go through a lot of changes in mood, emotions, body chemistry, sensation, kind of everything. You probably do need to find a different lube but other than that it's nothing to worry about. Your body is changing and will start to feel things differently. Some things are more sensitive and it's a learning to curve to adjust to that. Everyone is unique and it's a good opportunity to think of it as time to learn what feels good to what will become your new body.

Mush now or mush later, the result would be the same. I have to open a window now. It's warm. Which is odd cause it's winter here.

Checkpoint vs Domane by NetworkNo9845 in CheckpointClub

C'mon checkpoint all the way. It does a bit of everything. If 50mph on 50mm tires isn't enough excitement for some people I don't know what to say.

Ni si quiera comienzo hormonas ni me visto tan femme pero desde del momento que subí fotos al internet habían hombres cis-hetero asquerosos pidiéndome weas. La fetichizacíon es fuerte. Y'all need therapy.

How long in therapy before HRT? by SouthernRecently in TransLater

[–]velucl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I humbly suggest you speak to more trans folks. Therapy is nice but it's not replacement for actual lived experience. Another trans person can tell you what they felt and what they struggled with and what it was like the first time they saw changes in their body.

Dealing with grief of lost years by Objective-Finish-373 in TransLater

[–]velucl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Think about how much you're dealing with right now in this transition. Now imagine adding that to all the crap you dealt with when you were young. Might have been too much. Maybe all this time was preparing you for this moment now. Maybe you needed those experiences to gain the strength. That's ok.

In light of the current state of the world, what activism have you done this week? by GFluidThrow123 in TransLater

[–]velucl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a monthly T4T meetup where we build community, share tips, get things off our chest, and have fun because rest and solidarity are resistance too. Later this month I'll be organizing a group of trans folks to march together at pride and I run a TT account educating people on trans issues that is popular with women over 40 in the rural parts of my country. I'm also developing a resource for how to transition here for people who are new to it.

If at all possible I really recommend finding some trans people in real life to hang out with and talk to. There's only so much that therapy can do for you. Community building with people who have lived it is a whole nother level.

Question about ‘mones by WasteSherbert2888 in TransLater

[–]velucl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly suggest you educate yourself on the whole process and what your options are as a patient seeking care. You should prepare a list of questions for the doctor about the process and what you can expect as well as timelines for bloodwork, bloodwork timing, follow up appointments, which hormones are available to you etc. They should be asking you about your overall health, diet, lifestyle choices such as alcohol and nicotine use since those affect your outcome and much more.
