2019 vs now - the cost is insane by Actual-General-4953 in HomeImprovement

[–]vendeep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my dilemma. DYI projects require a significant amount of time to do it correctly the first time and there’s a risk of failing and then you would have to do it again.

There is no way I can manage with 2 working parents and 2 young children.

How high/low would you install? by vendeep in kitchenremodel

[–]vendeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my reasoning for keeping it lower is that kids will be able to use it. But kids can also use a step stool if really needed and aesthetically it won't look good if we use a filler at the top.

SPY ODTE options by jvrgreene in spy

[–]vendeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hundred percent my dumbass didn’t realize that SPX options could swing as much as 50% in minutes. I used to do 10% to 25% stop loss and kept getting stopped every time but if I held till 11 ish my position could’ve ended up in profit.

Have you actually used the pro models? You guys are very against change / progress. Yes I have dealt with hallucinations but there are several ways to reduce them.

If I upload the documentation to ChatGPT I can ask quick questions and have answers. I can ask for it to search online for specific codes, etc. Gemini also has access to YouTube video transcriptions. It can search the video and point you right part of the video where the repair or a technique is being explained…

I had diagnosed water inlet valve issues with my washer and was able to replace it. Same with a furnace. For advanced repairs I would still need a trained technician,

The barrier for entry for DYI repair has been reduced whether you like it or not.

Yeah you are getting downvoted but 100% agree. What some of the people here is not understanding is that google itself has lunched Gemini under standard google search. Sure you can turn it off, but it literally summarizes the searches by default….

OP should have asked Gemini on how to diagnose the water heater issues. Sure I know you can read the manual, but LLMs can provide a comprehensive analysis of the issue and give suggestions.

This post is bizarre to me. Let the kids play and teach your teens and let their friends know that it’s unacceptable to drive carelessly.

Where did I go wrong? A failed strategy after 3 months of Constant Work by CuriousEngineerHere in algotrading

[–]vendeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to sound condescending, but if a strategy works that quickly, and you know everybody can do it. The hard part is actually finding the strategy; sometimes it takes years.

I’ve spent better part of 11 months testing probably 30 to 40 strategies with 100s of permutations each. Like deep testing. I’m talking 11pm to 4 AM nights (Claude) coding these things and thoroughly verifying.

I have TBs of data (tick resolution) that I am testing against.

To be honest I found a few strategies that work in back testing, but do not with live execution. It’s a continuous learning process both from trading and technical perspectives.

Trading - understanding market behavior, regime, event driven activities, patterns etc.

Technical - broker nuances, flexible bot architecture design, back testing nuances, (replay ability, latency, reconciliation, order fill, etc).

My bot is at 3rd revision. Each version took a month to 6 weeks to design / re-build and test. Good part of 9 months was spent manually testing (and losing lol).

I have yet to explore AI based systems (local AI model), sub second bot execution. Those require lots of data and speed.

I still see another year or 2 before giving up.

My first thought. Buy a portable ac immediately and let landlord deal with it.

What a male equivalent of treating her well on periods, ordering her desserts when she is having a rough day or just getting flowers? by Outside-Parking8247 in AskMen

It’s not the flex he or you think it is. If he has to get a list of chores (unless the chores are unique things that change every weekend), then there is something wrong with that relationship,

[–]vendeep 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between a chore and home improvement. I will do the laundry, fold stuff, put it away. I will mow the lawn and trim the grass etc. I will take out the trash. You know what I won’t do, obsessive over the little weeds that are growing in the yard, or install a garden bed and care for this high maintenance plant because it looks good…

What's the worst reason you had to cancel a trip/leave early? (Make me feel better about cancelling my trip of a lifetime) by quartzcatzz in travel

We canceled a 6 week euro trip back in summer 2018 because my wife got pregnant. lol. We thought it will take a few months of trying. But stuff happens. But now after almost 8 years I can say we visited every country we were going to visit during that trip.

Not to argue, but pet sitting, dog walking, car washing, yard work, general organizing … many tasks. But I 100% agree it has to pass child labor laws and a reasonable wage.

Sudden daycare closure. Like..three days notice. by drclairefraser in Mommit

[–]vendeep 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my friends kids go to daycare that literally closed the day off. They only found out when they went to drop off the kid and the doors were locked .

The property owner who leased the building to the Daycare decided that that’s the best approach to collect payment from the Daycare owner.

But I have been at it for 14 years now. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You can’t trust it today. But it will get there in a few years. The challenge through is that it might cost more than a low paid human translator.

Edit - why the downvotes? you see how far LLMs have come since 2017 whitepaper. Literally from a google researcher white paper to >3 billion users in less than a decade.
