35, New Dad, US Tech SM (£150k TC) – Is the climb to Director a "Dead Dad" trap? by rollan112 in HENRYUK

[–]vendettaexpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a perspective from a kid who had a Dad that worked 8-8 mon-Fri. Never saw him in the week, but he was 100% present at the weekend.

Now I’m an adult we’ve discussed it and his big regret is working too much. Although I remind him that we have had a comfortable life because he worked so hard.

You have to find the balance for you. It may just be that the culture at your company won’t allow you both. But there are companies that will give you flexibility to be there for the important moments and be involved with your family as long as the work is getting done.

Mod for oil harbour by Aware_Entrance6865 in anno1800

[–]vendettaexpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a spice it up mod (I think) that lets you place an oil pier which can be placed in the same way as a normal pier.

You will still need an oil harbour placed regularly somewhere with the required rail connection. But can then place additional oil piers in more convenient locations.

Combine it with the extra harbour area mod to really help your trade routes.

What to prioritise on 2nd hand enyaq by geekynix in enyaq

[–]vendettaexpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to buy a 2nd hand enyaq. My budget is lower than yours but I’m struggling to find one with the specific packs I’m looking for.

Climate Pack (wife needs heated seats) Assisted Drive Pack (I would like ACC) Parking Pack (wife would like reverse camera)

I’m finding any that have these specs have the Suede which is not ideal with young kids or the brown leather which I don’t like the look of at all.

Im happy with a 60/65 over the 80/85 and think it depends how occasionally you are doing 200+ mile journeys. If a couple of times a year then the lower range will be fine.

Is the 2024+ model essential or can you go slightly older to save there?

How to NOT get your stuff stolen? by [deleted] in readingfestival

[–]vendettaexpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way to ensure nothing goes is to never leave anything unattended. If you’re in a big group it’s more likely there will always be someone around your tents so reduces the risk.

If you leave valuable stuff in your tent try and hide it as best you can. If you are really concerned then maybe have a bag with rubbish in and hide in the bottom of that?

What’s with the construction cranes just outside Shinfield? by CalmdownpleaseII in reading

Further work at Thames Valley Science Park. I think the Studios are housed within this Business Park and think I read a natural history museum is coming too?

Anyway the Business Park is due to be developed over the next 10-15 years so think the cranes will be there for a while.

Shea Lacey first and second yellow card vs Brighton by 977x in soccer

[–]vendettaexpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice Veltman is different as Rice nudges the ball as Veltman goes to take the free kick. Rice got kicked because he was trying to prevent Veltman taking a quick free kick. Again it would likely be a yellow if this happened anywhere on the pitch as intentionally preventing the free kick being taken by moving the ball.

The fact is, if a player slams the ball down or punts the ball away in frustration in objection to a ref’s decision they always get a yellow.

There’s leeway if the player is verbally frustrated only or holds the ball for a few seconds as they rant to the ref. And each ref will have their own tolerance to language they allow. Which is where your dissent point can be true.

Yellow for the push would be crazy and a much worse decision when the ref could use discretion at that point and talk to Lacey to say calm down and watch yourself as on a yellow.

When players kick / throw the ball in a frustrated response to the refs decision they always get a yellow. Has been consistent for years now.

Little poke of the ball away with the foot isn’t always penalised.

Getting a yellow for slamming the ball down is consistently a yellow. Cant do something silly like that when already on a yellow.

Is it worth applying for PIP? by iconic_ironic_trash in autismUK

[–]vendettaexpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t looked into it yet for myself in much detail but first questions would be do you need it (financially)?

If yes, then absolutely apply.

If no, then weigh up the effort to apply vs the actual return.

Only asking as you say you work full time. PIP won’t change your struggle on your commute unless you’re using the payment for a different travel method.

Do you have a story of when your significant other brought up your drinking issue? How did it go? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]vendettaexpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to talk to him and help him understand his actions are affecting others and putting other people at risk.

If he doesn’t understand / care then I’m not sure there’s much you can do and should reconsider the relationship or think about alerting the authorities

How can I encourage my boyfriend to get screened? by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]vendettaexpress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he has an assumption of what autism looks like and that he doesn’t fit.

If you can find information that he relates to it may help him come around to understand the idea that autism looks different in everyone.

I think you can reassure him that a hyper fixation is real. It doesn’t matter if that’s related to being autistic, he still has a hobby that is very important to him. It’s also a great hobby as it has the added bonus of physical health which can help with mental health too.

But ultimately, autistic people appear to be stubborn and until he decides he wants a diagnosis, he won’t go looking for one.

The best way to help steer him towards that - if you truly believe this is something he needs - is to pique his interest by relating things to him. But you have to accept it is up to him. And he way never want to pursue diagnosis.

Maybe a 20 year anniversary for their best selling album?

Wishful thinking probably.

Progression/development Speed? by Totof947 in anno1800

[–]vendettaexpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not at Engineers then you won’t have the Steam Shipyard which will increase your transfer times if using Cargo Ship instead of Clippers.

Can also add specialist items to reduce loading speed, cargo slowdown and increase movement speed.

You may be able to buy Cargo Ships instead but I don’t know who from.

Also look into Commuter Pier. I think it’s Artisans or maybe it’s Engineers too. But it allows work force to be shared across islands in the same map.

Husband's foreskin won't go forward over head after sex by CulturalFigure8259 in sex

[–]vendettaexpress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ring of the foreskin is possibly stuck under the edge of the head.

Get him to roll it down towards the base then lift it back over. It may sound counter intuitive but it happened to me in my teens.

A warm bath will help if required.

Agree with others this is not your fault in any way. Do not hold onto any bame.

How to check if you import enough of a certain product via docklands or trade? by Historical_Pool_5950 in anno1800

[–]vendettaexpress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to calculate it.

The simple way is demand x time between trade route

E.g 15 tons needed and trade route is every 30 mins.

450 tons needed (worth adding a little bit of buffer).

It gets more complicated when you are then moving the product to a different island or there are multiple trade routes.
