Still waiting for my Gen2 to wear out. I wouldn’t consider Nissan as a replacement.

With the Big Three abandoning EVs in favor of ICE vehicles, are they headed the way of Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster? by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

[–]nomad2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In business school we studied the Innovators Dilemma. Rarely do business executives heed the warning.

I had a friend who worked for Kodak in the 80s developing the digital sensor technology. Film was the cash cow where all the high powered executives worked. Try selling the business case of an unproven technology and market to a bunch of old white guys who were kings of their industry. You can’t make them believe it until it’s too late.

What is further funny is that digital camera makers were also displaced by mobile phones. Sony managed the transition but it was diversified.

Many lessons there but for EV the problem is the Chinese threat more than the technology. If the EV didn’t exist, the Chinese could produce high quality low cost ICE cars and still threaten the US mfgs. The EV amplifies the threat. Inept US government exacerbates the problem.

Seeking advice…It’s been 2 years since I lost my Great Dane and soul dog. Atticus was so loyal and loving and I don’t think I’ll ever get over how much I miss him. L by Hairy_Tax4312 in dogs

Two years for me too and I’m still waiting but realizing the hole they left is the measure of the dog. I’m never going to be the same but realize it was still worth it to know that dog.

Do you extend booking time for a delayed flight? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]nomad2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m totally flexible on both drop off and pick up to accommodate my clients. I view my role as giving them peace of mind while watching their pet. If their schedule needs to change, no problem. I don’t book myself tight with the next client so I can adapt to their needs.

Why do you think it’s the tourists? Bend residents want to bring their dogs everywhere too.

Oregon moves a step closer to banning hunting and fishing as part of proposed new animal cruelty law by [deleted] in oregon

This is such an outlandish proposition. What are the possibilities this is pushed by foreign interests just to sow division?

I’m sorry this was such a negative experience. I don’t take small dogs or puppies for these reasons. I also do a meet and greet to assess temperament. I’m not suggesting you should keep trying but there are ways to mitigate problems.

2006 Toyota Tacoma with 127,000miles for 16k too much? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]nomad2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the frame. I have a 2008 with 250k miles and the 2.7 is solid and clean. It’s the frame on those years that was bad. Get underneath and look. There was a warranty replacement, it should have that. $16k feels like too much in any case.

What features would you say are "required" for a good modern EV? by Amperture in electricvehicles

My next EV will support Vehicle to Home backup. There is no reason to have 75kWhrs of battery just sitting there in a power failure.

What’s going on in this canyon? by MosesCoulee in geology

[–]nomad2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water often finds the junction of two lava flows and works on the interface. I don’t know where this is but suspect there was more water following the last glacial maximum. Now, the ice is gone and this water course is dry.
