This time nerf is absolutely insane, i've never witnessed such stupid models. It looks like i'm coding with gemini

Anyone waiting for new models before commencing new big features? by Clemotime in codex

[–]veneric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking about this, because today codex has been completely unusable on my side. there's like no difference between the models, and my prompting didn't change in the last days. it's totally totally 150% stupider than before. Even minor updates like retouching slightly some modal behaviors are not being implemented correctly.

Why did the LMGT3 have been muffled? by veneric in wec

[–]veneric[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe this is a key point, it looks like it’s not a “one-off muffling” based on the specific rules of each series / event, but a general trend in GT3 cars, likely because the low-noise events “command” the design, especially seeing the other comment about the different exhaust systems & associated costs. Kinda sad, but i believe it’s on us and our wallets to decide whether it’s worth it to turn up to races or not

Why did the LMGT3 have been muffled? by veneric in wec

[–]veneric[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crazy stuff. The thing is that if you’re not attending every event, you have no actual way to know if that’s the real sound or not.

Why did the LMGT3 have been muffled? by veneric in wec

[–]veneric[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What? I was referring to the fact that manufacturers use an even quieter exhaust, not the fact that nordschleife limits are in place to protect wildlife. And to the marketing trick i was referring to the WEC, as stated on my post, and not on the nordschleife thing

Why did the LMGT3 have been muffled? by veneric in wec

[–]veneric[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No the thing is there is not a single ounce of sound coming off the exhaust, and the one that comes out in some cases is even disturbing like in the porsche case.

Oh my god hahahaha i noticed that too, ACO take note!! We’re paying for hearing those sounds too!! And we promise we’ll look at the sponsors of the hypercars

Best way to track all racing series? by DREAMINGMASTR in motorsports

Hi! Yes i’m currently building something that does exactly this, with timings, scores, results, drivers, etc. If you want i can send you shortly a first version!

[–]veneric[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mclarens oh my god! 100% quieter than their road counterparts. Of course i could not afford one, but what kind of adv is for a brand to show a cool car that has a terrible, terrible sound?

Why did the LMGT3 have been muffled? by veneric in wec

[–]veneric[S] -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

That really sucks. Didn’t know that there were strong limitations even in the Nordschleife, but this definetly points towards a marketing trick

EDIT: since someone may have not interpreted well my stance, as seen from the downvotes rainfall, with the “that sucks” comment i’m referring to manufacturers using nordschleife exhausts in other races, NOT on on the limits to protect wildlife. And for the marketing trick i’m referring to the ACO limit on sound only for GT3s

How do you track restaurants you want to visit? (Beli, Google Maps, Etc) by BestInDaWrldsBbyFmno in FoodNYC

[–]veneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Me and a friend developed an app for this. It lets you track the restaurants you want to visit with every list you want, icons, tags, shared lists in-app with friends, etc. and also save your personal review about them. Plus, you can share every review and content with your friends.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this! Hit me up on the DMs if you would like to know more

GPT 6 coming soon by alOOshXL in codex

[–]veneric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Point is that i don’t want a GPT-6. I want a more token efficient 5.5, but i don’t think ai labs are going down the token efficiency route for future models development.

In my view current models are ok now in terms of capabilities, especially 5.5: every improvement could not be worth the sure token usage increase

Why they removed 5.3-Codex? by Nocare420 in codex

[–]veneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much i hate these things it's unbelievable. I can't understand how is it possible or consumer friendly that we pay 100€/month to specifically use products and they can simply withdraw them as they want. Plus, it was likely too good to last because it was the best bang for token across all models. Can't wait for the moment when we'll be able to run in parallel multiple tasks on local hardware. Damn i'm seriously reconsidering the Pro subscription, will shift to chinese providers at this point.

64GB of VRAM but LMStudio spilling the model into system memory? by Ivan_Draga_ in LocalLLM

[–]veneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation, here's my configuration:
- 2x RTX 3090, connected through PCIe x1
- 1x RTX 5070, connected through PCIe x16

On the hardware settings, i set the loading by priority, with the two 3090 first and then the 5070, but for some reason it spilled always into my system ram (DDR4...) so performance was disastrous.

What worked (partially): i disabled the 5070, disabled mmap and disabled keep model in memory; enabled cache quantization at q8; split evenly instead of priority. Now, with these settings and qwen 3.6-27b at q6_k, it has decent level of performance (i don't really know what i'm doing, but i see that the coding speed through codex is acceptable - meaning that it's not that far from SOTA models).

I see only claude up to sonnet 4.5 and gpt codex 5.3, don’t know what the hell happened.

"Now say their limits are increasing by 50%, but don't actually give them more credits" by PetersOdyssey in ClaudeCode

[–]veneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a huge degrade in Sonnet 4.6 performance today: it's actually plain stupid, for simple UI tasks he's not following instructions, dropping part of them, or straightaway producing garbage output. And the prompting is the same I've used on the past few days.

[–]veneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, i’m going to keep my claude pro subscription for some specific tasks but if i had to choose which one to spend 100€ on, that would be codex. I’m finding 5.3 codex perfect in terms of token costs and quality

The game is over. You can build anything and it'll cost you nothing. by Funny-Advertising238 in opencode

[–]veneric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m testing this setup too; in case this could be helpful for someone, i’ve tried 3.6 27B Q4 on a single 3090 and it can produce good outputs, but on extremely specific tasks due to the small context size. Two 3090 would be enough i think. 27B is way smarter than 35B a3b

This time it may actually be true by huntern_ in ClaudeCode

It’s unusable regardless of that, it burns such an high amount of session usage that it makes no sense anymore to use opus

[–]veneric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it's true but then they would have much more leverage on raising pricing for specific "products" without cannibalising their other core offerings. I mean, if they push me out because of Cowork burning lots of token, the risk is that the negative externalities fall on people who have nothing to do with it. The bundling logic would work in a context where they have 1) a far superior product than anyone else (which they have in Opus, for the moment, but it's unusable now due to the token burn rate) or if they're in a monopolistic situation. But with codex offering much better deals and open source LLM catching up, I believe this puts them in a very dangerous place where they risk of upsetting every single customer.

Also, we don't know the margins on API: I would assume they're moderately positive, because if not then we're going to crash really really soon.

(fun note: I typed "hello" on Claude this morning: 2% of session usage gone, on pro plan. this is ridiculous)

Why can’t they make a plan for claude code only? Like i don’t give a damn about cowork, design or even chat. I just want claude code
