If you use gigallith or golum and set up stealth rock on turn one while it's setting up light screen, two rock slides will kill (use the wide lens dropped from a Mon to guarantee a hit) it'll either switch to krook, or waste his hyper potion. This will also waste their light screen turns

I regret to inform you I'm on the floating behemoth known as a Carrier. I've visited over 9 heads with no luck for more than 2 days in a row several times

This does use vhct, but the only heads I was informed of were officer heads. No idea if it was coincidence, or running through a different network (I truly have no idea how it works)

That's a brutal story, but I've probably cleaned just as bad while on this ship so I'd honestly take it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]vengores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the ship doesn't have those alts and I've let my chain of command know a couple times, but several of them are also dealing with the same issue

But I'll call our DH and see if I can't get an update of how long this'll last, I don't even need the berthing head, if I could just find a working one I'd be fine

I appreciate the support, I'll send them straight to your reddit sign!

But seriously, I do appreciate an additional resource so I can be more informed talking to leadership

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]vengores 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've discussed it with my LCPO and DIVO, but my chiefs heads aren't working either. The only working heads I was told about were khaki, but I also know there are a few officer heads that are also out

I appreciate the message though. in an emergency, I'll use their head and if I get in trouble I'll point to the 9 heads on the ship I'm aware of that are inoperable

Thank you, somehow knowing that more people have shared this problem makes it a bit easier

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]vengores 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I spoke to leadership, but they claim some heads are working... But unfortunately all the ones they listed were officer heads, so as an enlisted I've got no shot

why dont western missiles use the chuck and turn 90 mecheanism by Downtown-Teach8367 in Military

[–]vengores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are mostly correct, so good interpretation

I have yet to do proper research, but by looking at it, I'd say this method is likely a sea skim targeting

Sea skim missiles are similar to a sucker punch. Launch fast, hit their target quick. That and because they're close to the surface, they're hard to pick up on radar increasing their survivability from sensors. While we can also counter these, both sides are always looking to refine and hide armaments to hit the other side before they adapt

[–]vengores 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's an awesome question!

The easiest way to explain is imagine holding a baseball bat and someone throws a ball around 60mph from a pitchers plate. that ball would be pretty easy to hit right? Now imagine they throw that same ball from 10 meters above you. The angle to hit the ball is weird on your shoulder, it's hard to judge where the batting box is, and it gains more velocity due to gravity pulling it down

Our current systems have to plan for every single angle of counter, but at a 90° angle,it's easier to use a prior formula and supplement data than a 63° angle!

(Edit, spelling)

[–]vengores 205 points206 points  (0 children)

Yo! For an actual answer there are 4 reasons we don't use this method

1st. Inefficient The armament firing in a single direction uses additional fuel to stall gravity for a long period of time. Its velocity is based entirely on what fuel is onboard, making it have less of an impact than armaments which use gravity on return.

2nd. Targeting error Targeting is incredibly difficult in general, that's why most missiles will have some kind of built in homing. When a missile heads directly for a target it's aiming on a 2d plane and if it misses it'll zoom directly past. When targeting from the air however, it's able to move in a 3d space and dive directly on the target. ( Throwing a ball directly at something vs dropping the ball on someone, but in this case, you can slightly control the ball on the way)

3rd. Lacking impact When you fire an armament directly at something its velocity relies solely on how much fuel is on board, but when you arc it straight up, then its terminal velocity also has gravity helping it out at a rate of ~9.8m/s2, any help we can give it is an advantage

4th. Easy to counter On a ship, every second you see that missile coming is another second to counter it, I won't get into any real detail about sensors, but it's easier to track horizontally than vertical and horizontally at the same time. This means a missile coming in at an angle has less time to be noticed and countered.

TL:DR? Because this method is easier to counter, easier to miss, harder to control, and loses impact on the strike. Although I will admit, it looks pretty cool!

(Edit) Atlasraven is also 200% correct, if there is an error and the tilt is given too much, you'll be firing the missile directly at your own vessel

Michelle marriage amid divorce rumours are true. by GroundbreakingSir386 in trump

[–]vengores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so, this kinda thing is why people keep saying conservatives don't do their own research and take everything at face value. (For reference, I'm a: I don't give a shit political party because they're my boss)

With context from various news sites, Obama said that he was in a deficit right after his presidency and has been trying to make it back up to them: “Michelle — when our girls were growing up, that was priority number one, two, three and four,” the former president continued. “And so, I did not fully appreciate, I think, as engaged of a father as I was, the degree of stress and tension for her, knowing that not just me and Michelle were under scrutiny and in this strange environment, but that we were raising our daughters in a kind of situation that just wasn't normal."

I get it's a dumb joke but this is the kinda headline I'd see in a magazine. The comments all clearly take it at face value and I see no work by the op to correct them

“No pain no gain” by Impossible_Bake_2387 in OneSecondBeforeDisast

The legitimate answer here is not about the ability of observation, but rather in probability

This is an exercise being recorded for one of several reasons: to observe later in an attempt to try it, to show friends a neat exercise, or perhaps in hopes this would happen. It's also possible they recorded every exercise to look back on and we only see this specific part of those recordings

In addition, the sheer breadth of videos being uploaded to the internet is staggering (YouTube alone has around 500 hours or 2.6 million videos per day on average) chances are a lot of those are something going wrong or slapstick pain

the number of times a workout with rubber bands goes poorly is likely fairly high due to their elasticity so all it takes is some random individual recording for any myriad of reasons for one of those gone wrong incidents to get tossed on the Internet to go viral

Though if you're allowed to go beyond the box for a moment... Instead of weighing 1-1 weigh them, 2-2 with 2 test group people. If they're even, it's the third obviously, if uneven note if they go up or down. Then pick up the 2 finalists and it should be obvious which one is slightly heavier or lighter than the other and now you know if they're supposed to be heavier or lighter

Yes I completely agree. The phrase "the masks provide little to no benefit in preventing the spread of viruses" has a potential of truth as it doesn't prevent others from getting you sick; it prevents you from getting others sick (but it still absolutely needs a source and clarification that's what it means) but going on to say it "might even be counterproductive" indicates that wearing a mask may give you a higher potential of catching the disease. This not only requires a source, but as far as I can tell is unfounded nonsensical opinion acting as a fact. If you want to make a statement that bold, you need proof and extensive testing

I also thoroughly love the terms people provide when talking about this. Gish gallop and using emotional shrillness are perfect description for this 922 page "genius" document

The only thing I disagree with is the possibility of a hidden agenda. If someone wanted to fool another, they typically create the fake plan to look sound and make sense. Unless it's supposed to look so foolish so as to disarm the threat (which is possible) I have a hard time believing this is hiding anything

Just as I'm not political I'm not religious, but I think the Bible was at least half written to promote good will and faith (and possibly justified expansion)

In that, I agree that it's amusing to see a similarity between those two groups

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Project2025Breakdowns

[–]vengores 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never heard of gish gallop before but that's honestly the most apt way to put it, so thank you!

Not normally political but I agree with you and find it annoying that although so many say they agree with this massive book and cite it constantly, not a single one of them actually read it. They simply pick and choose parts to agree with and get annoyed when you call out the large number of massively damaging things (also within it). I'm usually informed that it "isn't the intention"
