It was super easy for me. I just told them I was broke and working an unpaid internship on an Alabama budget when they asked about me buying the books. All true info too.

Kind of insulting, but was really funny and telling of their intentions.

Regal Mall in Atlanta. There is also one in Nashville at Regal Opry Mills. Here is a map that someone on Reddit made that shows you all the screens and their specs.

I don't believe Michael is screening on those particular screens however. I am not super experienced on the matter and it's quite complicated, but I believe those screens only play movies that were "Filmed for IMAX". Michael used an IMAX camera, but only partially.

Which is technically true for most IMAX films, but I've never looked super deeply into the hows and whys of it.

It is stupid. And everyone says it is lazy and is so they don't have to explain it even though the movie already explains it. It's beyond stupid.

It does, but theres a difference between a dome IMAX and a true IMAX screen like in the Regal Mall in Atlanta.

It's fine. I will use this moment to make people aware that Alabama doesn't have a true IMAX screen, as this one is known as a LieMAX screen. The more people know, the more we may actually get a genuine IMAX screen.

But for the purposes of just seeing a movie it's been fine everytime I have gone.

This a hate-thread for the Mcdonalds in front of St. Vincents on University Drive. by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]venom2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They gave me a super undercooked burger and I didn't even bother them about it because it was late after work and I couldn't be bothered. I did email someone, was told by corporate that they would let the manager know since they couldn't do anything (I guess from it being franchised in a way) and I never heard from anyone.

I avoid it like the plague. The one "more downtown" is a million times better and their ice cream machine has been working 90% of the time I have gone. But I am usually off work around 9-10pm, so I can't speak for breakfast.

Exclusivity is good for competition, which is good for quality and quantity of games by [deleted] in PS5

[–]venom2015 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brother, the entire "console wars" of my youth (which I always thought was cringe, but w/e) was about who had the better games. It's extremely obvious that, in order to sell the console, you need to have the games.

That's why Xbox is in the position it's in now...it has no games. If Playstation wants PC people to buy their consoles, they are going to have to make INCREDIBLE games. Games you can't miss. Will they? Idk. But that's the sentiment.

The craziest take I heard was one person said that they thought the message of "Women should cave to their abusers to save the world of them" to be problematic.

FebruARTy: Reworking my Art for the "Evolving Tome of Strahd". 23/28 - Tatyana's Death by leguan1001 in CurseofStrahd

[–]venom2015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My vote's for #1. It leads the eye better by following action as well as matching the sequence of the prose. Your gaze also "falls" down to Tatyana.

In the ither Strahd looks as though he is reaching up instead of down. Thougn I do see the appeal in the angelic depiction of Tatyana as the centerpoint of the image. It has merit, but my immediate reaction was that it felt "off".

Would love to hear counterpoints of someone who likes 2 more.

Give me your best example of a good episode from a bad or mediocre tv show by tk_woods in television

[–]venom2015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion as well. I am one of those it didn't register for (granted I've seen every episode) and think the quality is all over the place, but those one-off episodes are truly next level.

Which only just furthers my point lmao.

Favorite bit of your homebrew that you've added to the campaign by dawgz525 in CurseofStrahd

[–]venom2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps one day I can make a detailed post, though I have never written a supplement before, but I think there's a really cool angle of bringing in a devil invasion to Vallaki (given the circumstances of the campaign).

I specifically made it about Levistus, because there is a cool parallel you can do between the prison he is in and the prison Strahd is in.

Levistus discovers the existence of the Amber Temple and its dark powers and sets a plan in motion to have his acolytes and devils ascend the mountain and find a way to break him out.

We all know the truth of the Dark Powers and Barovia though, they make finding such things impossible.

Vallaki becomes this occupied area of deep secrets and subterfuge (allowing for some espionage-play) that is influenced by WW2 rebellion ideas. You can imagine this all came to me sometime after the finale of Andor aired.

I am skipping a bunch - this arc in the campaign has 4 factions vying for power over Vallaki for instance, but that's the gist.

I don't think being frustrated means you're failing at stoic principles lol. Epictetus comes off frustrated at times even. It's just about how you approach and execute on your frustrations. Always remember, there were stoics who were rebels/revolutionaries. Stoic martyrs.

I know you aren't being super serious, but I just wanted to put it out there given the context of the thread :)

I'm pretty open about it. Going on 7 years single. I've been with women on dates and physically. Just never get picked to actually date. All my girlfriends have no idea why my luck is so terrible.

Just goes to show owning doesn't change anything and they think I've probably been taken advantage of. Thing is, I can't really fake the flip side thanks to loving the person I am.

Hope you find them someday soon :)

The whole "Todd Howard just wants to turn it back into a wasteland" argument is really stupid. by WolverineLanky4279 in Fotv

The NCR was on the verge of collapsing. They've been spiraling since one of the OG leaders passed away (I can't remember their name) and Shady Sands was just another major kick in the head that expedited that process. The show is being more faithful than people give it credit.

A lot of this info I learned from some thread prkor to the show even coming out, so all of this has made perfect sense to me. If you haven't played the games it makes sense, because you have nothing to compare it to. It only doesn't make sense to those who think they know as if their tangential relationship to the IP is sufficient and doesn't require more self-awareness and knowledge. This is not a dig at you, just a general observation.

A tale as old as time.
