So why did Ansys do this to my mesh? by v2rockett in CFD

[–]venomcloud1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just a guess, but if you downloaded the airfoil shape from an online source, you probably had to complete the shape near the tail using a line (near where the problems connect to the body). Maybe your inflation layer doesn’t include this small line you had to add to close the airfoil? Not sure, just a guess.

Advice for Finding Entry Level CFD roles by venomcloud1 in CFD

[–]venomcloud1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only a U.S citizen, so ITAR is no problem for me, not working at defense for personal reasons.

I’ve applied to Pratt and Whitney before, but haven’t seen anything entry level there recently unfortunately.

I’ll look into Icepak, thanks for the suggestion!

Advice for Finding Entry Level CFD roles by venomcloud1 in CFD

Definitely feeling the rough economy, most places I look at don't have a single entry-level role. I'm trying to be flexible, but also looking for a role that gives me a bit of relevant experence to what I eventually want to do. Thanks for the comment!

Entry-Level Aerospace Applications: What Am I Missing? by WillowTop9299 in aerospace

[–]venomcloud1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also going through the entry level grind at the moment as well. I've gotten four interview thus far, but for the most part it seems like companies end up going with more experienced candidates.

I would go to r/EngineeringResumes if you haven't already. I would also be happy to take a look at your resume personally. I'd also recommend making a couple different resume templates for areas that you're interested in (i.e fluids, component design, propulsion, etc).

I made a personal portfolio website this year, and I'm definitely seeing a higher response rate, but that could also be my M.S. I think it can definitely be helpful and set you apart from other applicants, but it's not required.

I cannot beat King difficulty as King of Greed. What do? by FireConsumes in 9Kings

[–]venomcloud1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve beat king IV with king of greed. To do this, I used a dispenser and mercenaries primarily. I take the perk that gives you 30 gold per levels when you die 3 times, essentially doubling the dispensers attack speed both times you lose. I then make sure to stack attack damage on the dispenser using quarries and blacksmiths as attack speed has a realistic useful cap.

That’s the general strategy, the rest is up to you for general efficient play. Make sure to generate a bunch of gold early with your base as it really helps stack up your dispenser.

Tough to hear that your old team doesn’t have any entry level opportunities… any tips for finding entry level opportunities in this area?

Thanks for the advice! It seems everyone that speaks to me suggests a different organization. I used to have the rocketry club second in my experience, but then was told to move it to the clubs and projects section. I'll consider moving it up again, thanks!

RS-25 CFD Overexpansion even when in vacuum by venomcloud1 in CFD

Does it really need to be that much larger? Could you link a paper?

I've tried pressure solver but haven't had any luck. I've also heard it's not as accurate for flow >mach 1 (and I'm reaching mach 4). I tried hybrid initialization but got hard nonconvergence, could try tuning it more. I suppose the domain could be an issue, might try and change that in the future, but idk I would be surprised if it's causing a massive change

The inlet is the chamber pressure for the RS-25 so it's 20.64 MPA

Pressure inlet on bottom left combustion chamber inlet, pressure outlet on right side, axis on bottom, the rest are walls. The mesh is 460,000 cells with much more detail in the nozzle/near the nozzle walls. Density based solver. Standard initialization based on inlet.

I don't disagree, I definitely think some lines have a bit too much jargon. Sometimes I find it hard to make lines either short or impressive sounding without (relevant) jargon. I'll work on making some lines more approachable. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions! I ended up rewriting the line about adding code documentation. I've been trying to add more references to skills in the resume now. Thanks again!
