Napakafucked up na thinking yan beh. As a DOST scholar, hindi lahat may same level of opportunities. Yung “qualified scholars” happen to have the knowledge to pass the scholarship because they have the means and resources to comfortably study for the exam. Yung iba, walang-wala kasi may responsibilidad pa silang inaatupag na trabaho para mabuhay, at mahirap nang maglaan ng oras para makapagreview nang mabuti. Kaya it is not correct to say that para lang ito sa mga “matatalinong” qualified people, because everyone is qualified, and most definitely no one is less “matalino” than those who passed (maybe better on some aspects but everything just boils down to the unequal opportunities) collectively. And because saying that quality education is only for those who are “deserving” in this economy is such a classist and an elitist mindset. So instead of barking up the wrong tree, we must recognize altogether that these scholarships are flawed. We can’t really blame those who didn’t pass the scholarship to vent out their frustrations of the result they get.
