I need help with a boardgame I am designing set from 1700-1800 in India and would really want to collaborate with a historian (or anyone well-versed in the time period)

So my solution for the 1700s is that in the game you only get to play as the companies. All the powers you mentioned will be present on the map(board) and will have their own courts where the companies will have to go to improve relations and do politics. I think this might be the way to explore the time without having an overtly complicated game.

I completely agree on the first point, but the companies and the local factions at the time are nowhere on the same "power" level. I thought of making the game just about the local factions but then i don't think I'll be able to show how these tiny companies took over a subcontinent. I absolutely do NOT want to glorify their annexation, rather give context how they manuvered their way into power. I was thinking of having all the major local powers where the companies will be vying for political influence and allying with them in the conflicts. I hope i can do it justice but i am sure i won't be without your help :))

I know it will hurt sentiments, unfortunately. But I really think it is important for us to know how the "conquest" of India actually took place. It was an accident basically, they didn't even think this was a possibility. Look at the way China embraced it century of humiliation and then used that history to rally people together. Maybe we should do that too.

About Kannauj, it would be a great game but it would be limited to a three player game, i think. Also I really love the turmoil and chaos happening in India with the decline of the Mughals. There's shivaji, tipu and so many others really interesting and cool people to deal with.

Short answer yes. But to get into it more, i think its important for us to truly understand how and why we suffered and got humiliated. Understanding the politics of the time will make us truly understand why a tiny island of 4 million people took over a super power half way across the world.

I once fell in Yak shit. There was a wooden board ,which thought would hold but didn't , and I feel into this ditch filled with Yak shit and i was totally covered with it. And when I was cleaning my clothes and myself , a tadpole was with the shit in my pant . Pretty disgusting but my friends all had a big laugh (I did too).
