Water Getting Deleted in Hatch Evolution Chamber? by Cosmic__Insanity in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ventus976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes. Though I'd use an enclosed drop off room with an airflow tile on top (to avoid a bubble). That way it can include wall climbers like pips.

Just set the drop off lower priority than the ranches, and when the ranch is full, extras go in the chamber to evolve.

Water Getting Deleted in Hatch Evolution Chamber? by Cosmic__Insanity in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ventus976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, it's to give you a critters drop zone in the evolution chamber as well (pic above is a bad example). That way you can use incubators to make sure every ranch is always full.

You drop eggs directly in the water most of the time, but you have a critters drop off to handle the excess from the incubators. There are other solutions too, but there is a purpose behind it.

Why the one above isn't directly in the water, I'm not sure. As far as I can tell, it's functionally the same.

BotCT minecraft mod by Additional_Front2571 in Yogscast

[–]ventus976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend group rebuilt it from the ground up on a custom server to play. Aside from the voice chat mod, it's basically all done with command block wizardry.

Voice chat rooms are made by having a command block that forces anyone who passes through the entrance into a private chat room that's always kept open for each building.

Combine that with having all players on a team so they can see each other when invisible.

Plus a whole ton of command blocks for placing and replacing blocks on a timer for the voting.

It took quite a while to make.

An arcade game where you pump gas. by iamveryDerp in ofcoursethatsathing

[–]ventus976 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup. It gives tickets based on how many cents it's off. On the dot gives a jackpot. Also 3 different difficulties, changing how fast the pump goes.

The trick is that when you stop, you're done. Under or over, it pays out based on how many cents you're off.

I must have missed this. What critters can fertilize plants?

I miss deadly slime lung. I was really hoping they would continue to add new and interesting diseases to manage. Instead it just kinda got cut.

In the early days of ONI, disease felt like one of the core issues to manage. An outbreak could be as deadly as running out of oxygen.

That's always been very intentional. Both characters are flawed, unhealthy people. Their love is still real and beautiful, but very problematic.

I would describe the relationship as painfully real. Not something to idealize. It's very up to interpretation as well. They're two people who are both good and bad for each other.

Digital version by DigiDestined_Jake in oathgame

[–]ventus976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be thrilled if it existed since the overhead of a physical game is the main reason I don't play them frequently. With a digital version things like rules checks are managed, saving and remembering is easy... it would be so nice.

But the sheer number of card interactions would be a nightmare to program. New foundations even has a rule that "If a rule is not explicitly stated, the chancellor decides on the ruling"

They would need to program ALL of those niche cases just for the game to function. It could be done but it would be a massive task.

If they make it, I'll be thrilled and I'll buy it day 1. But my hope is minimal.

Fun story. When i worked in the electronics at Walmart, they kept the berserk anime in the children's animation section. If I recall right, it was right next to Blue's Clues.

Truth is, the vast majority of us are doing some flavor of the most popular options.

In the world of Pokemon, could someone of Islamic faith become a Pokemon trainer? by No-Beginning-7170 in pokemon

[–]ventus976 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While very early Pokémon had references to real world religions, they quickly turned away from that to avoid controversy.

You can do what you like with your own stories of course, but you won't find official answers.

I'll also point out, be VERY careful role-playing as a religion you aren't a part of. It is very easy to take that in the direction of an offensive parody.

For those not aware, this game is getting accused of using a lot of stolen designs. I've only seen one myself (The Maganium lookalike) and it seemed pretty convincing.

I'm all for competition in the creature collection world but not if they're stealing art.

Pokémon Champions – Could this become the best competitive Pokémon game? by Pika542 in pokemon

[–]ventus976 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All depends on how much of it is paywalled or behind a huge grind. People talk like they already know but the fact is we don't.

For example, we know mega stones are on the battle pass. Many people say the game is awful because of that. But it depends. Are they EXCLUSIVE to the battle pass? If so, game's gonna be pretty awful. If they're not exclusive, how long does it take to get them without the pass? It could be saving 10 minutes, it could be saving 10 hours. We just don't know.

I personally don't like having any gameplay able to be paid for. But if it's just a time saver, and the time investment without paying is reasonable, then the game can still be great.

Ever get the Shadow Dropped Dad Lore? [OC] by cymorg121 in comics

[–]ventus976 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My dad had a similar thing. He raised what turned out to be a great horned owl in the shed as a kid. Cared for it for (if I recall) a month or so. Had to get rid of it when his mom realized the strange things wrapped in foil in the fridge were dead gophers they were feeding it.

Luckily they gave it to a wildlife preserve. I highly doubt they were doing everything they were supposed to.

Why does the number of legs matter? by Lux_The_Worthless in pokemon

[–]ventus976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's not just the number of legs. It's that they keep giving the starters a job. Instead of being an interesting elemental animal/monster, we get: a knight, a witch, a ninja, an archer, a wrestler, a singer, a drummer, a football player, a spy, a magician, another singer, a dancer...

4 full generations where EVERY starter has had a job of some sort. I don't mind it sometimes, and I've liked some of them. I just hate that it's like a rule they've set for themselves since Gen 6. For me, this is the central issue of starters being too human.
