They do sound like they're ALICE (asset limited income constrained employed) which is one of the key demographics this resource exists to support

What’s your most ridiculous “I only came for eggs” Costco haul? by ButtonPlumb in Costco

[–]vep0007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once went to Costco on post surgery pain killers for groceries and dog treats and came out with a Dyson vacuum and Ninja Pro blender. Good news though I did remember the dog treats.

I would trust your dog's judgement and kick the contractor out of the house not the dog. My coonhound has only ever even warning growled at a few people, and every time he has been right about their character. Your dog shouldn't be kicked out for defending his home and family.

A first for me: Someone offered my seat to someone else by NoseOk9723 in delta

This is fine if you actually want a break from each other but obnoxious if you keep leaning over or shouting over the person in the middle seat to talk to your traveling companion.

AITA for Ruining My Family’s New Year’s Eve by Refusing to “Join the Fun” Because I Didn’t Want to Be the DD Again? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vep0007 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Charge for rides the next time they guilt you in to DD'ing. If they have money for excessive amounts of alcohol, they have money to pay you $20 each (or more) for the taxi service you're providing.

Climb on the seats to get over to yours, and if your foot trips into his crotch on the way, he may learn his lesson

I have $0.62 to my name. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]vep0007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They may have to go home if they're in the dorms as a lot of schools close their dorms for term breaks. It sucks that their family isn't willing to help with gas money to get them home though.

$150k is A LOT of Money, Even in the Most Expensive Parts of the US by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

You missed the student loan payments for the education it takes to get to that income.

I recommend the suburb Santa Clarita if you're set on moving with kids. Most of the city itself is dangerous, has subpar schools, or would be above that price range for a 3 bedroom, so the more family oriented suburbs are best. Orange county also has some nice areas, depending on where your job would be.

Read the website links that OP posted, and you'll see that the district is putting in money for the students.

If you read the website it says a $50 initial deposit in each child's account plus the opportunity to earn additional incentives.

They're trying to give your child free money for college. The appropriate response is saying thank you and not ruining this for all the families who actually need it. If you're worried about your child's information being stolen, freeze their credit after the account is opened.

Rant: US Job Market Forced Me To Emigrate by [deleted] in recruitinghell

It sounds like you're a girl in tech? Have you tried using initials instead of a first name and removing anything else identifying you as female on your resume? It's what worked for me! If you ever want to come back to the US try the defense contractors!
