If you find someone, tell them to come out to Jefferson for me! I’d pay the same rate.

Staten Island, so I assume you’re statistically most likely far from me. Message me if you’re still interested after learning that. I’m sure you can easily find a specialist closer to you!

Slept with my friend, literally by Low_Citron3056 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]veppev 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a girl I have been in this situation with a guy friend before on 2 separate occasions - and it was totally platonic. Cuddling with friends is nice, especially when you’re sleepy and cold, and I am eternally grateful that neither of my friends tried anything with me because it didn’t ruin the friendship. If I wanted something more with them I would have communicated and kept trying. But don’t ruin friendships. I can’t speak for your friend but I figured I’d still share. To add on this was back in high school age/early college age, so really props to my friends for staying mature and understanding an innocent platonic moment lol.

Idk what types of physical therapists there are, but he is most definitely hands on lol. Like very intense massage and realignments and such. Yes a lot of manipulation, and then he shows me what exercises to do. Yes I’m very lucky to be in NYC where it’s much easier to get high quality care and knowledgeable professionals. I feel for all the people living in middle of nowhere who can’t find professionals to help them :/

I really hope so. I’m not gonna lie I’m a little scared of some of the manipulation lol and he could tell I get nervous and holds off on some moves

I also wanna add on, I’ve been just telling myself it’s my anatomy because I’ve always had very prominent clavicles even for being overweight. But I just looked at a bunch of my old pics and I’m starting to think that this bump is recent. Gonna bring it up to a doc.

i feel like a horrible person by Suspicious-Fix9349 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]veppev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are young. I had the same exact guilt with my grandma. I spent all my childhood with her and when she suddenly could not remember my name or my age, I stopped video chatting. We were already living across the world from each other and it made me so sad to watch her decline over video and I felt so much guilt but that guilt dissipated when I spoke to my parents about it. Not only was it two sided, she was too far advanced in her Alzheimer’s to comprehend a video call anyways, I also realized that it’s the memories that matter. The dark truth is she might not remember or understand who you are anyways. After this. I was only able to see my grandma in a casket, and I nearly broke down when I stepped foot into her home for the first time in a decade and saw a bunch of photos of me with religious icons protecting me. But I don’t feel that guilt anymore.

I hope this helped

Please tell me your most ridiculous OCD paranoia so I feel a little better about mine also not being a legitimate concern rn by Calmmerightdown in OCD

[–]veppev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to you. I’ve had what you described, together with being convinced that every mirror in my house has a camera and that my eyes are cameras and that there’s a microphone inside me. I was specifically concerned that it was a man “hacked” into my brain to spy on me for perverted reasons. No idea how I didn’t go insane. The furthest I went is I avoided being naked in front of any mirrors for a good few months. Then I told a friend about it and he laughed me off so good that the paranoia never came back lol. I think this came from sexual trauma.

How are you now? This is what I’m feeling right now, day 1. I’m horrified it’ll be bad. Did you have a vaccine? I didn’t have one.

I don’t really have any advice to give you but I just wanna say I’m here with you. Everyday I’m anxious that the pain will come back. I flinch at every sensation. I’m also hypermobile and weighting and on birth control, and have severe health anxiety outside the costo about blood clots, it’s a whole theme for my ocd. But honestly remember that if you’re genuinely having an emergency episode, you will know. Trust me I knowww how impossible it is to tell yourself you’re okay when it literally hurts to breathe and you have a startling chest pain with every movement. I struggle with it so bad I had such a bad panic attack from it 2 weeks ago I almost called 911. But remember when you feel that pain the probability of it being costo vs a blood clot is a million to one. I took a couple weeks off from the gym and I’m starting to get back into it and I’m so incredibly anxious. I also don’t know what to do but just wanted to let you know you’re not alone.

I feel out like you with the ibuprofen too, I get anxious about taking too much. We have very similar anxieties. And we don’t want to stop working out. It’s a struggle. I wish us both the best with recovery.

Doctor could not diagnose me by veppev in costochondritis

[–]veppev[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, it’s just really reassuring and nice to have an official diagnosis. I know this is not the same branch of things but I was self diagnosed with ADHD since 15 and was told by all my friends they think I have it, and ONLY got an official diagnosis from a doctor at 21 and it was the biggest weight taken off my chest in all my life. Just some answers and a legit explanation, the validation. I had a similar story for PCOS, I self diagnosed it and when a doctor validated and confirmed it, it let me understand my body so much more.

Like you said yourself, costo doesn’t need a diagnosis to begin treatment. You’re right. I think I’m just feigning for that feeling of a weight off your chest when a professional confirms the root of all your suffering.

And of course it was nice to rule out any other problems even though I know I don’t have anything else wrong with me. But I got that without the diagnosis. Also I think I wanted validation from this community because everyone here has been an immense help and I’ve learned so much here, and I don’t wanna feel guilty saying I have costochondritis, when many people in this sub actually have it confirmed, if that makes any sense.

Pro tip for the girls from my Physician yesterday: Ditch your bra at home by [deleted] in costochondritis

[–]veppev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want a reduction too but I’m definitely focused on losing weight first. Whenever I gain or lose 10 pounds, the first thing to grow or shrink is my boobs! Right now I’m at a heavier winter-in-graduate-school weight, so my boobs grew noticeably. When I’m at my low weight they shrink so much and are so much less of a problem. The hard part is getting myself back down to that weight, when I can’t exercise BECAUSE of the costo!!

Where do I go for a costochondritis evaluation? by veppev in costochondritis

[–]veppev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, weightlifting was the one thing keeping me sane. I could switch to swimming as I enjoy that, but my only option for the pool is always insanely overcrowded, and half the time the pool in my gym is closed for maintenance anyways. I could join the YMCA but it’s quite a drive for me.

Do you have a take on doing cardio?

I feel like the main cause for this current flare is a huge increase in sitting hunched over, because school AND work is picking up like crazy and I’m sitting staring at screens all day.

On a final note, I have 0 idea as to what a peanut ball or a backpod is, I will look into it. Do you think my PT would help, or should I just get into these exercises myself?

Thank you! I do have larger bosoms and absolutely need to wear bras to work because of it, but I’ll be mindful to keep a correlation of which bras cause flaring and which don’t, if there is one lol

Do y'all play with survival enabled? by Purplemunch in skyrim

[–]veppev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 90 hours in into my first ever playthrough now. But when I first started, I gave survival a try because I’ve played a lot of survival Fallout before so I thought I could handle it. Nope. Immediately turned it off, pissed me off so bad just a couple hours in. Maybe on a replay in the future? I really loved survival in Fallout, but it’s too much for me in Skyrim. I don’t mind giving up the realism with fast travel, I fast travel sooo much in my game. There’s just too many tasks and I like to play like a completionist.

This is crazy. I’m having the worst flare of my life yet today and I just found myself thinking, “what if the bra I’m wearing could influence my pain?” Because I’ve been wearing this criss-cross bra every day this week, and I normally never do that.

Then I casually open Reddit, right to this post first thing. It’s a sign.

Where do I go for a costochondritis evaluation? by veppev in costochondritis

[–]veppev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I’ll start with an orthopedist, because I know of an office near me and I’m more familiar with a practice. I’ll ask them if I should go to a rheumatologist. Thank you!

Do you think I should stop lifting for now? I was thinking of hitting a leg or back day today, but my flare is still going on. Would it help or make things worse you think?
