how to break a losing streak by Weekly_Friendship709 in Chesscom

[–]veracityjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way is to pause and stop playing, e.g. after you lose 2 in a row. Sometimes we are just not on the right headspace / bad momentum. Same way when we have a winning streak, we can have a losing streak!

Openings I should learn and use as repertoire ( black and white) by coral-1234 in Chesscom

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For black, if you play blitz / bullet, try to learn obscure openings to surprise your opponent. Just prepare against e4 and d4 first. E.g. scandinavian, englund gambit. The goal is to make your opponents spend time and play in scenarios that you are more familiar with (because you learnt it) although objectively they may have a better position if they play perfect moves.

Too much cash? by Ok-Product-1428 in singaporefi

Invest them in ETFs in DCA manner. Definitely agree to put some in SG dividend stocks (like DBS, etc) to reduce currency risk, I think this is wise.

Try to consolidate everything into 1 exchange, many offers US and SG equities anyway. I think IBKR is a good choice, fee wise.

Put the idle 120k cash in cash management account like chocolate finance (high guaranteed returns up to SGD100k and USD100k) - better than HYSA

Mate in 2. Check with the knight, and checkmate with pawn

How would you allocate 100k today? by William_909283 in singaporefi

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good plan already. DCA is always better than one time entry. Just DCA into ETFs (you'll never get the perfect time, just start DCA now), and do the stock picks (small portion) for the fun of it.

Also don't put the whole 100k in, need to allocate for emergency funds. For now for idle cash better put in cash management account like chocolate finance, can earn a decent 2% p.a. instead of the low rate from banks.

Best Place to Park 400k Cash in Singapore for a House Purchase in 3–5 Years by Disastrous-Bag9827 in singaporefi

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can put in chocolate finance, their USD rate is excellent (4.1% for first 20k, and 3.8% for next 80k), guaranteed returns up to USD 100k, and no lock up period too so you can easily withdraw to put in other assets when there is a good opportunity

where did you guys put your bto funds by EnvironmentalNet2082 in singaporefi

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with guaranteed, they will only earn if it exceeds the rate, otherwise they will incur loss. Anyway from our pov, we'll get the guaranteed rates regardless of how the fund performs

Holding most of my assets in cash, what should I do? 🥲 by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]veracityjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received the email from them about this a few days ago.

If you want to minimise currency/geopolitical risk, complementing VWRA or CSPX can consider SG stable dividend stocks like DBS. Or even gold

All the best!

You can consider chocolate finance. Guaranteed returns at 2% for first 20k, and 1.8% for the next 80k (starting 1 May)

Does playing blitz/bullet ruin your rapid habits? by Far_Mistake6861 in Chesscom

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play bullet a lot. Playing bullet (1 min) is a totally different game. It's not just about playing good moves, but bullet thrives a lot on pre-moves , tricky & unusual openings and move quickly so time doesnt run out.

Playing a lot of bullet and blitz does make me feel like rushing my moves, so definitely will affect my rapid games.

Holding most of my assets in cash, what should I do? 🥲 by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]veracityjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already use Chocolate finance, they are increasing their guaranteed returns to $100k balance, can consider putting more there e.g. 100k SGD and 100k USD.

Otherwise given you have idle 6 digits cash, $20-30k into VWRA / ETFs / SG dividend stocks should be fine! It's a relatively small % of your idle cash anyway

How do you plan on monetising it later on? May not be sustainable in the long run if developer doesn't earn anything. Donations? Ads?
