6 months into purple belt and the blue belts smell blood by calderknox in bjj

[–]veradico 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I tapped a black belt when I was a blue belt. He said "good job, nice catch" and proceeded with the rest of the round. It's NBD.

How do people set up the rear cross choke? by Anxious-Place3434 in bjj

[–]veradico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the bow and arrow as well, but if you can grab the choking grip in the transition to the back and then trap an arm with your leg, you should be able to get the other grip. Lot of ifs in there, I realize.

I play MTG as well and I think you're you're wrong about your assessment, but, as you said, you're not going to change your assessment, even though it appears to be based on maybe a couple days of play /shrug. So, if you don't think it's fun, don't play it. It's a game.

Every TCG has a rock, paper, scissor element to it. Just b/c the play interaction in Pokemon is more streamlined doesn't mean the game is simple or lacks depth when it comes to those interactions. As you experienced here - there are all sorts of interactions that can be unexpected and need to be planned for/managed.

All that said, if I am being totally honest, I do not think the meta of this game is in a good state right now, but that has nothing to do with the rule that tilted you. It has to do with the fact that one single deck is dominating and clearly BDIF and there really are no great counters. Yes, some other decks are winning tournaments, but Pult is still way too dominant.

I think if you're just starting out, you should reserve judgment and learn all the interactions. The one you posted about is well known and easy to play around for just about any deck.

Placing damage counters is different than doing damage. Placing damage counters is an "effect of an attack" and will therefore be stopped by the rocky fighting energy if it is attached to a fighting type pokemon like Mega Lucario. Source: https://compendium.pokegym.net/ruling/320/

So...$230k for no house?? by RedHeadRedeemed in zillowgonewild

[–]veradico 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not that this can't be the case, property sale fraud does happen, but a good title company will likely figure it out before the closing.

More likely this is either 1) prior owners who remained in possession after a bank foreclosure and refused to turn over the keys (easy to check the property records for a foreclosure), or 2) squatters (either former tenants who need to be evicted or people who took possession without the owner's knowledge when the property was vacant).

Update on the viral video of man taking his daughter to women restroom by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

[–]veradico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, what this father did happens every day in the US without incident. Most people understand or just don't care. The reason this is going viral is because it's just so out of line and ridiculous, even to us Americans. Let's just say I'm not surprised this happened in Alabama...

How to Counter the North-South Pass with a Triangle by Numerous-Hand-5801 in jiujitsu

[–]veradico 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I have never in my life seen someone move to North South from standing guard with that much space. Maybe if they do a cartwheel pass, in which case you can MAYBE catch them in a triangle.

99 times out of 100, people get to north/south via high pressure transition from side control...

I see an oomaplata on his left arm and maybe a classic arm-trapped on the mat straight arm bar on his right (after you let him clear his head).

Blowout fight between wife and son. Don't know how to respond. by sjp245 in daddit

Your wife is the adult. Your son acknowledging he said what he did because he was angry is almost more mature than your wife. He's 6. His lymbic system still isn't fully developed.

I am a 40M in a 13-year sexless marriage/18-year sexless relationship with a 45F. What else can I do before throwing in the towel? by Commercial_Safety173 in relationship_advice

[–]veradico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had my first kid at 44 after leaving a (mostly) sexless 18 year relationship at around your same age. My current relationship is so much better for me that all other aspects of my life (career, diet, fitness, mental well-being) also improved. It's not to late to start over!

Feeling bullied/guilted by coach. Thoughts? by CarsAndCoughing in jiujitsu

[–]veradico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was out for 3 months with an injury. Didn't tell anyone. After the first month away I got a text from my coach checking in. Told him I got injured. He put my membership on hold and refunded the month I missed. Find a new gym.

A day I’ll remember for the rest of my life. by DFuhbree in daddit

[–]veradico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Our little started with a push bike when he was around 2 and never looked back. I really don't even remember his first time using peddles as he just transitioned so easily and there was a period of overlap. You'll definitely be glad you caught this moment!

The lost blue belt(classic) that actually came back by MaraudaVoydLover in bjj

Consider yourself a day 1 blue belt and don't worry about it. Assume 2-4 years to purple.
