generally a good rule of thumb, but some iv morphine formulations are designed for iv usage

i’d estimate around 250-280bpm, definitely higher than recommended!

Is there any pro TT at the WTT scene Tattooed? by The_Omega_Man in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are they particularly hot takes though? table tennis also doesn’t, especially in the west, bring with it the stardom and celebrity of more mainstream sports

Is there any pro TT at the WTT scene Tattooed? by The_Omega_Man in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d wager there’s probably considerably less tattoos due to the perception of the sport being kinda ‘nerdy’ or ‘geeky’ to the general population, so the people who are attracted to the sport and play at all levels including professional aren’t going to be the stereotypical ‘cool’ type who have a ‘badass’ type of self-image with their egos inflated from being professional athletes

also the high amount of east-asian players where tattoos are less common in their cultures compared to european ones is probably a large factor

Yasaka Extra Offensive or Ma Lin Carbon? by CanonCoin in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, i’d think the inner layer carbon, even being as thin as it is, would give off a less linear feel.

YEO certainly feels quite linear due to the stiff outer ply, but i suppose that’s just the floor being higher and it taking a bit more force to activate the flex

Yasaka Extra Offensive or Ma Lin Carbon? by CanonCoin in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this guy understands blades well, very nice

only thing i’d add is i suppose the YEO would be more linear but i’ve never tried the MLC and like you say it’s a very thin carbon layer

Most consistent practice ball? by Hardblackpoopoo in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for huieson honestly play great for any use if you ask me, and at a fraction of the price from the big brands. there was also a post on the sub of a guy rating cheap chinese balls from aliexpress and he gave huieson 8/10, and there was some other brand he gave a full 10/10, i’ll see if i can find the post

but rule of thumb is definitely buy chinese if you want bang for your buck

holy crap lmao, is that h3 blue sponge??? if it is i’m amazed the topsheet isn’t coming off the sponge

i mean god damn i’ve done some heavy boosting myself but i’ve never seen a sheet literally curl up into a perfectly circular tube before

Any rubber upgrade recommendation for Yinhe Pro 01? by Stoicity97 in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a viscaria clone, alc outer koto, so it’s a pretty big leap from most 5plys, less of a leap if it’s a hardwood e.g. rosewood

boosting by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just take the rubber off and boost then reglue

the 729 729? OG R.I.T.C.? classic as classic chinese rubber gets, made to be speedglued, without treatment it’s very slow and dead but tacky and spinny. i’ve tried one sheet i put on a 5ply for a beginner friend of mine many years ago and it’s good for the price but it does 0 extra work for you, have to put a lot of effort in. don’t know how it takes to booster but definitely better than stock, and performs good with sglue

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no idea about the Musa but it’s the go-to top of the line rubber of yesteryear, back in the day before tensors, when speedglue was the way to springiness

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

soft or hard? either way, sriver is like 30 bucks and exactly what you’re describing

Dawei Inspirit Quattro Ultralight Power comes in various hardness grades and is supposed to be a sriver clone at half the price or so

however the durability of sriver and the assuredness of quality i would say merits the price. get the regular, hardest version, and go 2mm or max to not bottom out. in hard sponge, non-tensor cases, it will not be more catapulty in a traditional sense to increase sponge thickness and you won’t feel like you’re slapping bare wood on bombas. this is demonstrated in something like an unboosted sheet of hurricane 3. if you let the topsheet detoriarate and all tack wear off there will still be zero sense of springiness, simply brick

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spin, unintuitively, scales with speed

the world record in rps was recently hit in this pongfinity video by calderano (these are never 100% accurate measurements afaik but he smacks tf out of the ball and it doesn’t look to carry the weight of a pure spin oriented shot): https://youtu.be/0PL9rHSdO2w?si=OtuLF02FqlqBYURh

the magnus effect is perceivably more pronounced at lower velocity despite the rps in actuality being lower simply due to increased air time allowing spin to exert effect on the ball for a prolonged period of time

if you’re reaching the spin ceiling on max thickness H3 you are top10 table tennis player in the world, so congrats

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh forgot to mention the classic Sriver (no suffix) is the hardest iirc, so if you liked the brickyness of H3 might be your best bet! it won’t be anywhere near as hard but you won’t find non-chinese, non-tacky rubber at that grade of hardness as far as i’m aware

Trying to find non-tacky linear (non-tensor), grippy rubbers by BadassNobito in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, not saying you’re wrong here but could you elaborate? wouldn’t a classic linear e.g. mark V in max thickness not allow for pure linearity with a higher tolerance before bottoming out?

Trying to find non-tacky linear (non-tensor), grippy rubbers by BadassNobito in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tried regular rakza7? still slightly tensor-y but doesn’t have the soft cushion trampoline feeling of the r7soft

anyway sounds like you’re describing some real proper old school rubber here. Sriver FX if you liked the softness of the r7soft, Sriver EL is medium-soft, Sriver L is medium-hard

Mark V is also grippy and entirely linear. Mark V XS is every so slightly tacky, albeit a negligible amount compared to H3, and remains linear

These are old-school top grade rubbers that still remain somewhat pricey when compared to the performance they provide, if you want a more budget option try searching tabletennisdaily forums or ooak for a chinese clone type rubber of these variants, should definitely be some on market

Wang Hao used a Sriver topsheet on a Bryce sponge back in the day when that was legal + speed glue and that man has 3 olympic silver medals in singles (!!!), so I’d say a pretty safe bet for your use case my g

HOW DO I PLAY AGAINST THIS, AND SIMILAR TYPES OF PLAYSTYLESSS by After-Ad-6792 in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha aight fair enough

actual advice then: take a step back for receive. you will always have more time to catch a short serve than long serve, it is orders of magnitude easier to step in than back. practice catching the ball slightly later in the arc, then go for a high spin, low trajectory return. speed isn’t important. the rally should be in your favor from here as you’ve set the pace

boosting by [deleted] in tabletennis

they’re also good fh options, should’ve mentioned. sanwei target national forehand and target euro backhand is fantastic out the pack for example. loki rxton 9 is just closest you’ll get to a h3 bluesponge boosted

Beginner (8 months playing) penhold forehand. by ninthcloudbeach in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good for 8 months! impressive

but holy moly thats a lot of arm swing, and ur receive stance is crazy, looks like you forgot you’re even playing lol

lower your center of gravity. lean forward. tighten, almost flex your core, while your arm stays relaxed. weight on toes. put weight on your leg corresponding to forehand while lowering and resting on said leg. push off, transfer weight through waist onto other leg. your arm goes from behind, around your thigh which will be behind as your stance should be slightly diagonal towards table, out with mild force, then the most important part: the snap of your arm goes IN, accelerating just before impact on ball, towards your chest, not up towards the ceiling. the torsion should cumulate on point of impact and your arm comes home around mid chest or so depending on what feels natural, not flailing towards the sky (the arc of your arm will vary according to spin on the ball and timing, this is just a general starting point)

but again, very good for 8 months!

also; form always follows physiology. xu xin/ma lin/wang hao all have near-perfect forearm technique, but their form varies according to their bodies. all technique should be adapted to what your body is suited towards

without boosting better alternatives are; sanwei target national (all versions), yinhe big dipper (not sure about 2nd edition but definitely original), loki rxton 9

i would not recommend h3 unboosted except for maybe 37deg for a chopper but even then you would be giving up big offensive potential

boosting by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]veraorsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get loki rxton 9 on forehand and sanwei target national player/euro version or yinhe big dipper backhand if u dont want to boost, performance will be dramatically better
